ATLANTA (AP) — Slugging rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. was hit by a pitch before he could take the Marlins deep again, but Dansby Swanson filled the power void for Atlanta, hitting a two-run homer that led the Braves to a 5-2 win over Miami on Wednesday night.Acuna, who had hit leadoff homers in the last three games and homered in five straight overall, didn't get a chance to extend the streak. Jose Urena plunked him on the left elbow with a fastball on his first pitch of the day, triggering a melee. Benches and bullpens for both teams emptied onto the field twice after the pitch. LOS ANGELES (AP) — All-Star pitcher Alex Wood agreed to a $6 million deal with the Dodgers and catcher Yasmani Grandal settled at $7.9 million, among seven Los Angeles players agreeing to one-year contracts that avoiding arbitration.The deals Friday added $24.1 million to the Dodgers luxury tax payroll and raised it to $149,069,286 for 18 players with agreements. The Dodgers' tax payroll projects to $183 million, including $10 million for the rest of their 40-man roster, a $10 million charge for cash transactions in trades, plus benefits totaling $14,044,600. RHP Pedro Baez's September struggles continued Tuesday night as he took the loss in Philadelphia to fall to 3-6. The reliever came in with a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning but gave up four runs on only two hits, with a pair of walks and a hit batsman proving to be problematic. In seven September outings, Baez has given up 10 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings -- a 21.89 ERA after throwing to a 1.79 ERA through his first 55 appearances this season. "There is a point ... where production has got to come through, especially where we're at in the season," Roberts said. "For a player to not believe that the manager has confidence in him, it makes it that much tougher. But yeah, there is a point where obviously we've got to make some decisions here in the next week or two."

RHP Pedro Baez was activated Friday and relieved Kershaw in the ninth. Baez worked 2/3 of an inning with a walk and a strikeout. To make room for Baez, the Dodgers optioned RHP Josh Fields to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

RHP Pedro Baez (bruised right thumb) could join the Dodgers on Tuesday in Chicago unless the Dodgers decide to have him make a third rehab assignment at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he would pitch an inning, sit down and come back to begin the next inning. If that happens, Baez would rejoin the team when the Dodgers open a homestand next weekend. Manager Dave Roberts said having Baez pitch, sit down and pitch the next inning is the last box Baez needs to check after pitching on back-to-back days Friday and Saturday with no lingering effects of the thumb bruise he suffered in spring training.

Baez did not appear in a game at Tulsa, working on his mechanics in side sessions instead. He is 3-2 with a 3.55 ERA in 63 appearances with the Dodgers this year.

"With Pedro, the usage is considerably more than he's had in his career," Roberts said. "This is an opportunity for him to reset. We haven't seen the last few weeks Pedro being who he is supposed to be. Casey is a fresh arm, so it makes more sense. Pedro will be back." Baez has pitched 62 1/3 innings and allowed 11 home runs, both career highs. He is 3-2 with a 3.61 ERA in 62 games.

He pitched three of the past four days, including Monday, when he gave up two hits and one run in two-thirds of an inning and threw 19 pitches. By sending Baez to Tulsa, he can be recalled after that club ends its season.
