Williams is considered probable to play in Friday's game against the Blazers due to a right knee contusion.
Williams played 13 minutes in Wednesday's season opener, scoring two points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt) to go with two rebounds versus the Warriors. While he's likely to play Friday, it's unclear if Williams' knee issue will limit his involvement.
Tue Apr 22 201416:57Derrick Williams set to play in Summer League
Kings GM Pete D'Alessandro said that Derrick Williams will play for Sacramento's Summer League team in Las Vegas.
Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum will be joining Williams in the Summer League as well. It makes sense for McLemore and McCallum, as both players will be entering their second seasons and need to refine their game against NBA competition as much as possible. Williams is entering his fourth season and players with his tenure usually do not participate in Summer League games. This perhaps raises more questions than answers as to what his role with the Kings will be next season.

Mon Apr 14 201400:00Derrick Williams plays 40 minutes as starter
Derrick Williams had 13 points, one 3-pointer, four rebounds and one steal in another fill-in start at SF for the Kings on Sunday.
Rudy Gay was a late scratch due to his ongoing back injury, so D-Will logged 40 minutes in a tough three-point win. He averaged 12.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 13 starts this season, but the Kings' personnel moves this season may determine his fantasy value for 2014-15.

Sun Mar 30 201400:24Derrick Williams returns from illness
Derrick Williams returned from an illness against the Mavericks on Saturday with four points and two rebounds in 10 minutes.
The Kings giving serious run to Ray McCallum indirectly hurt Derrick Williams tonight and perhaps it was because he's not all the way back from his illness. Regardless, he's still too inconsistent to own in most leagues.

Sat Mar 29 201419:26Derrick Williams ready to go on Saturday
Derrick Williams (illness) will play on Saturday night vs. the Mavericks.
He missed Friday's game and was playing well before that, so he's an interesting player to use in some cases. Rudy Gay will run the point a bit and that will open up some minutes at small forward for Williams.

Fri Mar 28 201418:43Derrick Williams (illness) out vs. OKC
Derrick Williams (illness) will not play against the Thunder on Friday night.
He played 31 minutes on Wednesday and was developing some more consistency. Plus, he would have got some more run alongside Rudy Gay, but it's a moot point. Travis Outlaw could get more run while Jason Thompson should see an uptick, too.

Sun Mar 16 201422:29Derrick Williams erupts for 26 points vs. MIN
Derrick Williams exploded for 26 points on 8-of-15 FGs and 8-of-10 FTs as the Kings lost by two points to Minnesota on Sunday.
He made two 3-pointers, grabbed 11 rebounds and stole the ball once in just 28 minutes of action, despite coming off the bench behind starting PF Reggie Evans (eight points, five rebounds in 19 minutes). Head coach Mike Malone said that the two players will alternate starts based upon matchups, so there's a chance D-Will will get the nod vs. the Wizards on Tuesday.

Fri Mar 14 201410:51Sacramento's starting PF job to remain fluid
Coach Mike Malone declined to name a starting power forward for Saturday's game against the Bulls.
In Wednesday's win over the undersized Sixers, Malone went with Derrick Williams as his starter. In the game before that (at DET), he used Reggie Evans. And in the one just before that (at BKN), he rolled with Jason Thompson. Our best guess for Saturday is that Evans will start to bang with Carlos Boozer/Joakim Noah, but it's impossible to be certain. Malone might not even have his mind made up yet.

Wed Mar 12 201418:39Derrick Williams starting at power forward
Derrick Williams is starting at the power forward spot against the Sixers on Wednesday night.
The Kings get the friendliest matchup of all tonight and putting Derrick Williams in the with the starters shows they're probably anticipating a fast-paced game. He'll join Isaiah Thomas, Ben McLemore, Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins. We're expecting DMC, Thomas and Gay to have a big night, while Williams could be a nice play. Interestingly, that lineup has been used for just 2.5 minutes over the past month, so it should be foreign to these guys to say the least.

Sat Mar 1 201401:22Derrick Williams goes for 26 and 12 vs. LAL
Derrick Williams started with DeMarcus Cousins (suspension) out on Friday, scoring 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting (6-of-10 FTs) with 12 rebounds and two steals in the Kings' loss to the Lakers.
Williams' defense was terrible tonight and it's doubtful that Mike Malone is going to go overboard about a game in which the Lakers hit 60 percent of their field goals and 70 percent of their 3-point attempts. Carl Landry (knee) was also out, so there are plenty of reasons not to get too high about this. The Kings would love to make their mid-season acquisition look good down the stretch, but a fantasy-deficient producer like Williams should be approached with extreme caution.

Derrick Williams is expected to start in place of DeMarcus Cousins (suspension) in Friday's game against the Lakers.

Thu Feb 20 201403:05Derrick Williams invisible on Wednesday
Derrick Williams played just 18 minutes and hit 1-of-4 shots for four points and three rebounds in Wednesday's loss to the Warriors.
The fact Williams didn't get more run with DeMarcus Cousins (hip) in street clothes is disheartening and it's likely going to take an injury to Jason Thompson or Rudy Gay for him to regain any fantasy value.

Fri Feb 7 201423:43Williams double-doubles on inefficient night
Derrick Williams started for Rudy Gay (illness) in Friday's loss, scoring 11 points on 2-of-11 shooting with 12 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 42 minutes.
Williams was the best of the role players for the Kings tonight and that's not saying much. His fantasy deficiencies have been well chronicled and he'd need an extended absence by Gay to matter in most leagues.

Fri Feb 7 201418:17Derrick Williams (foot) will play vs. Boston
Derrick Williams (foot) will play against the Celtics on Friday night.
His strained foot injury doesn't appear to be serious and the Kings are going to need him. Rudy Gay is out of the lineup, so Williams is likely to get the start and could see as many minutes as he can handle tonight. Travis Outlaw might help him off the bench, as well. The Kings will likely start Isaiah Thomas, Ben McLemore, Williams, Jason Thompson and DeMarcus Cousins in their shorthanded lineup tonight.

Fri Feb 7 201414:15Derrick Williams (left foot) is day-to-day
Derrick Williams (strained left foot) is listed as day-to-day and is questionable for Friday's game against the Celtics.
He missed Wednesday's game with the foot problem after playing 24.0 minutes per game in his previous three games. Williams is still getting involved with the second unit, but he's not getting enough shots to be a factor in most fantasy leagues. If he can't go, Travis Outlaw and Quincy Acy could be used to help out a bit.

Sun Feb 2 201400:56Derrick Williams scores 14 off Kings bench
Derrick Williams played 25 minutes off the bench and had 14 points, one rebound, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in Saturday's loss.
Williams has lost a lot of his fantasy appeal now that he's back to coming off the bench for the Kings. But the minutes were there tonight and he did enough little things to help his owners. He may still be worth owning in deeper leagues, but owners will want to weigh options carefully before starting Williams next week.

Thu Jan 30 201402:14Derrick Williams back to a reserve role
Derrick Williams moved back into a reserve role on Wednesday, playing 19 minutes for eight points with one board, one steal and one turnover.
With Rudy Gay back in the lineup, Williams is going to be hard-pressed for minutes. He can be left on the wire in most leagues unless Gay's Achilles becomes an issue again, which is a possibility.

Mon Jan 27 201423:57Derrick Williams goes for 17 and 15 vs. UTA
Derrick Williams started for Rudy Gay (Achilles) in Friday's loss to the Jazz, scoring 17 points on 5-of-13 shooting with 15 boards and one block in 38 minutes.
Rudy Gay was very close to returning tonight and that alone could sink Williams' value, and when DeMarcus Cousins returns there simply won't be space for him. Still, Williams has had a few good moments and that always bodes well for his future. He's a spot-play at best if Gay and Cousins cannot go on Wednesday against the Grizzlies, who will likely draw bigger players out Sacramento against their frontcourt.

Mon Jan 27 201420:47Derrick Williams is starting on Monday
Derrick Williams (mouth) will start in place of Rudy Gay on Monday.
He'll get a very friendly matchup against the Jazz and looks like he'll have one more good game in him. Gay almost played in this game, so chances are Williams' fantasy value will take a hit on Wednesday vs. Memphis.
