Fri Apr 8 202214:05Red Sox, Rafael Devers Won't Reach An Extension
The Boston Red Sox and third baseman Rafael Devers will not reach a contract extension before the start of the regular season. Devers is under contract through the next two seasons, but he said this offseason that he won't discussion a long-term extension during the year. With shortstop Xander Bogaerts in a similar situation and likely to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract to become a free agent after this season, the 2022 campaign could be the last with both Devers and Bogaerts on the left side of Boston's infield. Devers, 25, is one of the best all-around hitters in the game, regardless of the fact that he doesn't have an extension in hand before Opening Day on Friday against New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole.

Wed Apr 6 202218:12Rafael Devers Turns Down Extension Offer
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers has turned down a contract extension offered by the team. According to MLB Insider's Hector Gomez, the offer was something lower than Devers was willing to consider. The 25-year-old is under team control through the 2024 season, but it's not a good sign for the franchise that he's passing on a long-term deal at this juncture. Devers is coming off yet another standout season. Over 156 games in 2021, he slashed .279/.352/.538 with 38 home runs, 113 RBI and 101 runs.

Tue Apr 5 202221:56Rafael Devers Extension Looking Unlikely
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers is unlikely to sign a long-term extension with the team at this point in time, according to Red Sox beat writer Chris Cotillo. Devers put an Opening Day deadline on the extension talks and Cotillo reports that there is "still no momentum" on a deal, despite the fact that we are now less than 48 hours away from Opening Day. Devers signed a one-year, $11.2 million deal with the club in March to avoid arbitration and through the terms of that deal, he is under team control until the end of the 2024 season.

Tue Apr 5 202214:19Boston Discussing Extensions For Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts
The Boston Red Sox have had recent discussions with both third baseman Rafael Devers and shortstop Xander Bogaerts about long-term contract extensions. However, neither player is expecting to reach an agreement before Opening Day this week, and neither Devers nor Bogaerts want to discuss contracts during the regular season. Devers can become a free agent after the 2023 season, while Bogaerts has an opt-out clause in his contract after this year that he seems likely to exercise. The combination of Devers and Bogaerts on the left side of Boston's infield is an elite combo, but the pairing could be in their final season in 2022. RotoBaller has Devers ranked as the No. 10 overall fantasy player, while Bogaerts sits at No. 39.

Wed Mar 23 202210:32Red Sox Give Rafael Devers $11.2 Million
The Boston Red Sox avoided salary arbitration on Tuesday with third baseman Rafael Devers by giving him a one-year, $11.2 million deal, according to a source. The 25-year-old Dominican was a first-time All-Star in 2021, hitting .279/.352/.538 with an .890 OPS, career-high 38 home runs, 113 RBI and 101 runs scored for the BoSox in 664 plate appearances over 156 games played. Devers has a high floor and a high ceiling for fantasy managers and is still relatively cheap in fantasy drafts. He's so attractive because of his elite barrel rate and his low strikeout totals, and he should also continue to rack up the counting stats in a loaded Boston lineup.

Mon Feb 21 202214:14Rafael Devers Enjoys Strong 2021 Season
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers enjoyed yet another quality season at the plate in 2021, further cementing himself as one of fantasy baseball's best at his position, alongside the likes of Jose Ramirez and Manny Machado. The 25-year-old hit .279 with a .352 on-base percentage, 38 home runs and five stolen bases in 664 plate appearances. What's more, he turned in a 9.3% walk rate and a 21.5% strikeout rate. The walk rate represented a new career-high for Devers, while the strikeout rate was the second-lowest of his career. Fantasy managers who miss out on Ramirez in drafts and want to select a third baseman early should consider the Red Sox slugger. Devers should once again be hitting in the top four of a lineup that also features Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinezand Enrique Hernandez.

Sun Oct 17 202121:07Rafael Devers Joins Grand-Slam Party In Game 2
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (forearm) saw teammate J.D. Martinez deliver a grand slam in the first inning of Game 2, and he followed up with a slam of his own in the top of the second. Devers also walked and scored a run in five plate appearances. He's gone 9-for-29 with three homers, 10 RBI, and seven runs scored this postseason, which is especially impressive considering he's been dealing with a sore forearm. It doesn't seem to be slowing him down at all, and he isn't expected to miss any time despite appearing to aggravate it on a missed swing.

Tue Oct 12 202122:25Rafael Devers Homers In Series Clincher
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (forearm) led the way in the clinching Game 4 Monday, going 3-for-4 with a three-run home run to knock out the Tampa Bay Rays. Devers now has two homers and six RBI in his 20 postseason at-bats this year, and he's driven in 20 runs in 65 career postseason at-bats. He's doing plenty to show that that nagging forearm injury won't slow him down, and DFS players can continue to deploy him as long as the Red Sox hang around.

Sat Oct 9 202120:53Rafael Devers Homers Friday In Game 2
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (forearm) has been the subject of much speculation regarding his forearm in the past few days, but on Friday he showed just how much he's still capable of, going 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, two walks, and two runs scored. Devers finished the season with three homers in his last two games, and continued his power surge here, so he appears to be no worse for wear. He'll be grinding it out every day the rest of the way.

Fri Oct 8 202113:15Rafael Devers Dealing With Forearm Discomfort
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (forearm) is experiencing right forearm discomfort, according to Michael Silverman and Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. The Globe reporters stated that the injury has only been flaring up when Devers swings and misses. The expectation at this point is that Devers is going to continue to play through the injury. Red Sox manager Alex Cora has yet to comment on the situation. The 24-year-old struck out twice in the team's Game 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays and went 1-for-4 overall.

Sun Oct 3 202100:59Rafael Devers Hits Solo Shot Saturday

With a .875 OPS, 36 homers, five steals, 98 runs, and 109 RBI this year, Devers has solidified himself as a star, both on the field and on fantasy rosters.

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers had two hits in Sunday night's game against the New York Yankees, going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and a stolen base. Devers now has five steals on the season, a number which doesn't seem impressive at first, but does a lot to separate him from other bat-first players in roto and head-to-head formats. Devers is slashing .393/.414/.571 in his last seven games, and appears set to finish a very strong fantasy campaign on a high note.

It's Devers' 35th homer of the season, though just his third in September. With an .881 OPS, 95 runs, 108 RBI, and four steals, Devers appears ticketed for selection in the top two rounds of 2022 fantasy drafts, and deservedly so - he's a superstar.

Sun Sep 19 202111:04Rafael Devers Scores Three Runs Saturday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers scored three runs in Saturday's 9-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. This is Devers' second time scoring three runs in a game this season, and it's also his first multi-hit game since September 6. Devers has just four extra-base hits in 59 September at-bats, but with 34 homers, 36 doubles and one triple on the year, he should be back to his slugging ways soon, and fantasy managers can proceed with confidence.

Tue Sep 14 202112:23Rafael Devers Breaks Extra-Base Drought With Homer
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers hit his 34th home run of the season Monday night, a solo shot off Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Paul Sewald. It was his only hit in four at-bats. He also struck out twice, giving him 18 whiffs in his last 12 games. This also breaks a seven-game extra-base drought for the slugger. There's been some boom and bust for Devers lately, but with a .273/.350/.536 slash line in 524 at-bats this season, there's no way he's coming out of fantasy lineups.

Sun Sep 12 202100:19Rafael Devers Strikes Out Three Times Saturday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers endured a frustrating game Saturday, going 1-for-4 with a walk, a run, and an RBI with three strikeouts. He also made a costly error in the field which led to three unearned runs. Devers has gone six games without an extra-base hit, striking out in eight of his 19 at-bats during that span. Fantasy managers aren't going to bench Devers in any circumstance outside of injury, however, so there's little to do but hope he rights the ship.

With 96 RBI and 82 runs scored, he's been an excellent contributor for fantasy managers all season and shows no signs of slowing down.
