Athletics and RHP Brad Ziegler avoided arbitration Saturday by agreeing to a one-year, $1.25 million contract.

Ziegler was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter as a Super Two. The 31-year-old sidearmer posted a 3.26 ERA and 41/28 K/BB ratio over 60 2/3 innings last season. While Ziegler's ERA and WHIP look pretty solid, his walk rate, strikeout rate and ground ball rate have all fallen off.
