Mariani failed to catch any of his three targets in Sunday's win over the Chiefs, but did gain 20 yards on three punt returns.
Mariani was nearly credited with his first points of the season when he hauled in a target from Jay Cutler on a fourth-quarter two-point attempt, but after an official review, it was determined that the receiver failed to break the plane of the goal line with the ball. Since the reception came on a two-point attempt, Mariani officially has no catches on the season, but it was merely surprising that Cutler even targeted him in such a crucial scenario. Due to his low placement on the Bears' receiver depth chart, Mariani will continue to provide most of his utility on special teams. He's averaging 9.7 yards on seven punt returns and 26 yards on seven kickoff returns this season.

Young recorded his first sack of the season in Sunday's 18-17 win over the Chiefs.
After an outstanding 10-sack season with the Bears in 2014, Young found himself on the roster bubble through most of training camp with the team transitioning to a 3-4 system that made the longtime down lineman an awkward scheme fit at outside linebacker. As a result, Young had seen limited snaps through the Bears' first four games while assuming a backup role, but he gradually seems to be getting a little more comfortable. Although it appears Lamarr Houston and Sam Acho will serve as the primary replacement for the recently-traded Jared Allen, Young will continue to rotate in off the bench in pass-rushing situations.

McClellin left Sunday's win over the Chiefs in the third quarter with a left knee injury and didn't return, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Though the Bears were able to escape Sunday with their second straight win, injuries are beginning to mount down the middle of the defense. Nose tackle Jeremiah Ratliff and safety Antrel Rolle have already missed action this season due to various ailments, and now McClellin could be facing a similar fate. The Bears called on undrafted rookie LaRoy Reynolds to fill in at the right inside linebacker spot, and he'd presumably be in line to start next week's game against the Lions if McClellin is sidelined due to the knee injury.

McPhee (shoulder) recorded two tackles, including his third sack of the season, and blocked a 27-yard field-goal attempt in Sunday's win over the Chiefs.
Through five games, McPhee has been worth every penny of the $40 million that the Bears doled out to him this past March. Along with being the Bears' top pass rusher, McPhee has shown a penchant for making plays that can alter the landscape of a game, as the blocked kick ultimately did with the Bears winning by just a one-point margin.

Bellamy snatched six of eight targets Sunday for 31 yards in Sunday's win over the Chiefs.
The absences of Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) and Eddie Royal (ankle) paved the way for Bellamy to enter the starting lineup for the second time this season. Despite the decent target volume, Bellamy failed to come through with many notable plays, as his biggest gain on the afternoon went for just eight yards. Even when the Bears' receiving corps finds itself at full health, Bellamy should still remain active due to the contributions he offers on special teams, but for fantasy purposes, his upside appears fairly limited.

Bennett caught four passes on 11 targets in Sunday's win over the Chiefs, accumulating 32 receiving yards.
As was expected Sunday with both Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) and Eddie Royal (ankle) out, Bennett led the Bears in targets, but failed to do much with those opportunities. While it was a disappointing effort for Bennett on the heels of his season-best performance a week earlier against the Raiders (11 catches, 83 yards, one touchdown), the fact that he's been seeing so much volume in the passing game the last two weeks bodes well for his future production. He should be considered one of the top fantasy options at tight end heading into the Bears' Week 6 matchup against the 0-5 Lions.

Forte accumulated 71 yards on 18 carries and hauled in five passes for 38 yards and the game-winning touchdown in Sunday's 18-17 triumph over the Chiefs.
As has become commonplace of late, Forte was bottled up in the run game, finishing with less than a four-yard-per-carry average for the third straight week. During that span, his production has also been devoid of big plays, as he's failed to gain more than 12 yards on any of his 63 carries. That said, Forte remains one of Jay Cutler's favorite check-down options in the pass game, and the running back's prowess as a receiver paid huge dividends in the fourth quarter. With the Bears trailing 17-12, Forte reeled in a seven-yard dart from Cutler with 18 seconds remaining, taking it into the end zone for the go-ahead score. It marked just his second touchdown of the season, with his first coming all the way back in the Week 1 loss to the Packers. Despite Forte's relatively disappointing production over the last four weeks, he'll remain a focal point in the team's attack, and looks like a dependable fantasy option heading into the upcoming week's matchup against 0-5 Detroit.

Cutler (hamstring) completed 26-of-45 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in Sunday's 18-17 victory over the Chiefs. He picked up an additional 15 rushing yards on four carries.
During his tenure in Chicago, Cutler has often been chided for his inability to produce in big moments, but he's done his best to rewrite that narrative by leading the Bears to comeback victories in both of the last two weeks. Though his first quarter fumble directly resulted in a Chiefs touchdown, Cutler did well in protecting the ball the rest of the way, finishing without an interception for the first time this season. More importantly, he showed incredible poise on the Bears' final two drives of the game. He first found Marquess Wilson for a 22-yard touchdown pass with 3:05 remaining in the fourth quarter, and then after a Chiefs three-and-out, Cutler commanded the offense on a eight-play, 67-yard drive that culminated in a go-ahead touchdown reception by Matt Forte with 18 seconds left. Cutler continues to play through a hamstring injury that was initially expected to sideline him for both of these last two games, but he's shown no signs of obvious rust and has improbably put the Bears in strong position to get back to the .500 mark with a road win next week against the 0-5 Lions.

Garcon caught three of eight targets for 51 yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons.
Garcon tied for the team lead in targets but was only able to haul in three catches. DeSean Jackson is close to returning and could cut into Garcon's targets.

Brock rounded up a season-high eight tackles (six solo) along with his second pick of the season in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
Brock has never recorded more than 37 tackles in a season, and he is well on pace to surpass that number if he can stay healthy this year. He is also on pace to surpass his career-high of five picks, which was set in 2013. Brock has been the 49ers' best corner this season.

Bethea collected 10 tackles (six solo) in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
Bethea currently sits nine tackles ahead of his pace from last year's 86-tackle season. He has still yet to record an interception, but those will come. If he continues his tackling pace, he should restore his status as a top-tier IDP safety.

Wilhoite recorded a career-high 16 tackles (11 solo) in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
Eli Manning completed 41 passes, which created many opportunities for the entire 49ers' defensive roster to rack up the tackles. Wilhoite isn't known for his ability to collect double-digit tackles, so Sunday's output should be considered an outlier as opposed to the what you can expect from him in the future.

Bowman recorded a whopping 16 tackles (13 solo) in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Giants.
Bowman finally had that signature performance we had come to expect from him in years past. He exhibited great movement and the minor knee tweak he suffered two weeks ago seems like a distant memory. He continues to be a solid IDP play.

Dawson hit both of his field goal attempts (22, 43) along with three PATs in the loss to the Giants.
Dawson has been a low-end kicker this season due to the 49ers' inability to move the ball into their opponent's territory. Still, he is a safe kicking option, as he is pretty much automatic from under 50 yards, which is more than can be said about the wave of new kickers who entered the league this year.
Mon Oct 12 201502:53Celek got start with Vernon Davis (knee) sidelined SundayGarrett CelekTE49ersFree Agent
Celek got the start with Vernon Davis (knee) sidelined Sunday. He made the best of his opportunity, securing three catches for 26 yards and his first touchdown of the season in the loss to the Giants.
Celek has usurped Vance McDonald as Kaepernick's favorite tight end behind Vernon Davis. Despite finding the endzone Sunday, it would be hard to recommend Celek in anything other than the deepest leagues, as he doesn't generate huge yardage gains, and there is a chance Vernon Davis (knee) could return by next week's game against Baltimore.

Boldin had a huge day against the Giants, hauling in 8-of-12 targets for 107 yards and a score in the 30-27 loss Sunday.
Colin Kaepernick finally got things going in the second half, and the 49ers' playmakers reaped the benefits. It is tough to trust San Francisco's offense this season, but it has become apparent that when Kaepernick is on his game, Boldin is his favorite target. Next week's matchup against his former team could prove to be another fruitful matchup, as Baltimore has surrendered 285.2 passing yards per game this season.

Jennings had 11 carries for 46 yards and four catches for 21 more yards Sunday night.
Jennings is the team's best all-around running back and should see the bulk of the work on the ground. He'll lose catches to Shane Vereen, however, and goal-line carries to Andre Williams.

Vereen caught all eight of his targets for 86 yards, including some key grabs on the team's game-winning drive. He also rushed five times for 24 yards.
Vereen is good for only a handful of carries per game, but his heavy use in the passing game makes him far more valuable in PPR leagues.

Randle caught five of his six targets for 42 yards Sunday before leaving with a hamstring injury, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
After the game, Randle told reporters it was just a tweak and that he wasn't too worried about it, but unlike Odell Beckham, who also hurt his hamstring, Randle was unable to return for the team's game-deciding drive. We'll learn more in practice this week, but the injury had to have bothered him significantly for Randle to sit out with the game on the line.

Maclin caught eight of his 12 targets for 85 yards in Sunday's game against the Bears.
The 28-year-old produced a relatively strong showing, but his production waned against a beatable secondary after 19 catches, 289 yards and a touchdown in his previous two games. The Chiefs could lean a bit more on the passing attack because of the likely loss of Jamaal Charles to a knee injury, but Maclin will continue to be heavily targeted either way. Kansas City will travel to take on the Vikings in Week 6.
