Hechavarria jogged Tuesday for the first time since injuring his left hamstring last Wednesday, but has yet run at full speed, Fox Sports South Florida reports. "He jogged a little today, and that's the beginning of the test," manager Dan Jennings said. "He has not tested it in terms of opening up and running. Probably another day or two away from doing that to see where exactly it is."
While it does appear he'll be back at some point this season, Hechavarria doesn't appear ready to rejoin the lineup in the near future. "Oh, I think he'll be back, yeah," Jennings said. "We just don't want to put him out there before he's ready and he potentially does tear it and he's lost for the year. It'll be a process. He did test it a little bit today jogging and (there was) some improvement, but not ready to open up yet." Given the Marlins' current place in the standings, the team will take things slow with their 26-year-old to ensure they don't cause long-term issues.

Hechavarria singled twice and added a double across four at-bats in Sunday's loss to the Nationals.
Hechavarria hasn't showcased an abundance of power or speed from the shortstop spot, but his steady contact skills have at least made him useful enough as a buoy in the batting average category for fantasy owners. Unfortunately, as a bottom-third hitter in a weak Marlins lineup, run-scoring and RBI opportunities don't come nearly often enough to accompany the solid .282 average.

Hechavarria carried the Marlins' offense Friday, driving in a pair of runs and scoring once in a loss to the Braves.
Hechavarria smacked a two-run triple in the seventh that would tie the game at two before scoring to give the Marlins a brief lead. The bullpen could not hold, however, and the Braves scratched across four runs in the bottom of the frame and cruised to a 6-3 win. While he's not the flashiest fantasy option, Hechavarria's is locked into steady at-bats and has produces a .276 average with 47 runs, 44 RBI, five home runs and five steals over 108 games this season. At an extremely weak shortstop position, he's developed into a useful fantasy piece.

Hechavarria went 2-for-3 with a walk-off three-run home run in Sunday's victory over the Padres.
The glove-first shortstop continues to show modest improvement at the dish and while his .279/.311/.375 slash line is not all that far off from the .276/.308/.356 line he put together in 2014, Hechavarria's batted ball profile shows a 5% increase in fly balls, helping to lead to his improved home run total. Hechavarria's mediocre speed and low batting position will limit his ability to pile up counting stats, but he remains a steady source of at-bats that can provide a bankable batting average for deep league players.
