BOSTON (AP) — Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez had to leave Saturday's game in the sixth inning after tumbling over Toronto's Lourdes Gurriel Jr. attempting to cover first on a grounder.Rodriguez, off to his third straight scoreless start, got to the bag at nearly the same time as Gurriel with one out in the inning and fell after his left leg hit the player's helmet as he was diving in headfirst when first baseman Blake Swihart's throw sailed wildly past the bag.There was no update yet on the injury.Both players stayed on the ground for a bit. RHP Heath Hembree gave the Red Sox a lift, throwing 3 1/3 scoreless innings after RHP Steven Wright faltered in his start Saturday against the Orioles. Hembree struck out five and gave up just one hit and was able to keep the Red Sox in the game. "(He was) outstanding," Boston manager John Farrell said. "He gave us a chance."

RHP Heath Hembree struck out the first two batters he faced in the eighth trying to protect a 5-4 lead but walked the next two and ultimately took the loss when both came around to score. "I felt like I executed pitches early on," Hembree said. "Got some swings and misses, got those two outs. And I still feel like I threw some pretty good pitches to the next two guys. They had some good takes off some pitches and didn't go my way."

RHP Heath Hembree was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket. He pitched 1/3 of an inning for the Red Sox Monday and didn't allow any hits or runs. Hembree is 4-1 with a 2.38 ERA in 41 2/3 innings with Boston this season.

Hembree, 27, is 4-1 with a 2.40 ERA over 41 1/3 innings in 30 appearances over three major league stints this season. He has held right-handed hitters to a .204 batting average and has posted a 0.77 ERA in seven outings against AL East opponents. With the PawSox, Hembree has a 0.82 ERA over 11 innings with 20 strikeouts in 10 appearances, converting all seven of his save opportunities.
