RHP Heath Hembree was sent down to Triple-A Pawtucket after Monday's game. That was to make room for LHP Eduardo Rodriguez, who will make his first start of the year on Tuesday in Baltimore. Hembree is 2-0 in 12 games out of the bullpen for the Red Sox with a 2.14 ERA.

RHP Heath Hembree, recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket earlier in the day, was summoned from the bullpen to replace injured RHP Joe Kelly in the first inning, and he struck out Desmond Jennings to strand the two Kelly runners. He pitched through the fourth, yielding two hits and no runs while striking out a career-high-tying four.

He's spent a bit of time with the Red Sox this season, giving up six earned runs in 6.1 innings across four appearances. He and Matt Barnes will be called up to replace Garin Cecchini and Ryan Cook.

Hembree (shoulder) was activated from the DL on Saturday and optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

Hembree has spent more than a month on the disabled list due to a sore right shoulder, but with only four appearances with the Red Sox this season, it's no surprise he's been relegated to the minors. In those outings, he's conceded a whopping six runs on eight hits and two walks to go with three strikeouts in 6.1 innings.

Hembree (shoulder) began a rehabilitation assignment at Low-A Lowell on Tuesday. He pitched a scoreless first inning, giving up two singles.

Hembree has been up with Boston three times already this season before being placed on the disabled list June 15. He's pitched primarily at Triple-A Pawtucket, where he's allowed just two earned runs in 18 appearances, spanning 21.1 innings.

Hembree has been placed on the DL with right shoulder soreness, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.

Hembree has been dealing with the issue for a few days, and it prevented him from entering Wednesday's game out of the bullpen. He'll head to the DL as infielder Travis Shaw comes up from Pawtucket to take his place on the major league roster.

Hembree mopped up Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays, pitching two scoreless innings.

There's been a few mop-up opportunities for Hembree since being called up from Triple-A Pawtucket. He's tossed four scoreless innings in two appearances.

Hembree was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday.

Hembree's stay with the big league club will likely be short, as he comes up to take the spot of Craig Breslow, who was placed on the paternity list Friday. Breslow figures to return in short order, possibly as soon as Sunday's series finale in Houston.

Hembree will be optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday to make room for Eduardo Rodriguez on the roster, the Boston Globe reports.

Hembree was used just once this week in his brief trip back up with the big club. He'll be back the next time the Red Sox need an extra arm at the back of the bullpen.
