Franklin will be called up Tuesday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Tribune reports.

The infielder will return to the Rays' roster with the Triple-A season coming to a close Monday night. In 78 major league plate appearances on the year, Franklin has only 10 hits (.139) with 24 strikeouts.

Franklin was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.

He was given a look in a regular role after returning from an oblique injury last month but failed to capitalize on the opportunity, slashing just .139/.205/.250 in 28 games. Marc Krauss, whom the Rays acquired from the Angels for minor leaguer Kyle Winkler, will reportedly take Franklin place on the major league roster.

Franklin will pick up an eighth straight start Sunday against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

He'll occupy the DH spot and bat eighth in the lineup. Franklin has also seen action at first base, second base, and shortstop during the starting streak, but it's his versatility more than his bat that has resulted in manager Kevin Cash scribbling his name onto the lineup card. Though he's recorded a hit in four straight games, Franklin is batting just .143 with a .226 on-base percentage over 62 plate appearances.

Franklin's start at first base on Saturday went well enough that the Rays are likely going to give him more time there, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Franlin's initial start came when the interim starter at first base, Jake Elmore, moved to third to cover for Evan Longoria, but Franklin's switch-hitting means starts could come when the Rays play right-handed starters. No one the Rays are playing at first base right now are close to ideal fits, so expect them to keep experimenting or make a low-stakes trade.

Franklin has been practicing at first base and could become a starter there against right-handed starters until James Loney (finger) returns, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Franklin figured to see a decent amount of starts at second base when Logan Forsythe was supposedly moved to first, but Forsythe's quick move back to second left Franklin without a clear starting spot. He'll join a list of career middle infielders the Rays have tried at first in the last month, which at this point includes, Forsythe, Jake Elmore, and, at least in one plan, Tim Beckham. Adding another position theoretically increases Franklin's value, but not likely enough to make him truly significant in fantasy.

Franklin went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in the Rays' loss to the Angels on Monday night.

Since returning from the DL in May, Franklin has started eight games for the Rays including five of the last seven. During that span, he's made four appearances at second base and one start at shortstop, so the Rays are using him as suggested with time a both middle-infield spots. For now, he's working from the bottom third of the batting order, as he's hit eighth in all but one of his starts this season.

Franklin, who is hitting eighth and playing second base Tuesday, was seen taking balls in left field before the game, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports.

The Rays Do not have room to give him everyday at-bats at second base with Tim Beckham and Logan Forsythe also in the mix and Ryan Brett working his way back from injury. Franklin has just one career MLB game in the outfield, but if he can get a start or two each in left field each week, that would go a long way toward him being useful in deeper formats.

Franklin is out of the lineup Sunday against the Athletics, Steve Carney of WDAE 620 AM reports.

For the time being, it looks like manager Kevin Cash will stick with Logan Forsythe as his primary second baseman rather than Franklin, who was activated from the DL on May 16. Franklin is 2-for-13 over his first five games of the season and could be ticketed for Triple-A Durham if he fails to heat up or earn at-bats in the games to come.

Franklin is out of the lineup Friday.

The Rays have already said that Franklin will only be getting a few starts per week for the time being, and this is one of those days where he will begin the game on the bench. Tim Beckham gets the start at second and will hit eighth Friday.

Franklin will serve as middle infield backup and receive around two starts a week based on matchups, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Franklin is a switch-hitter, so the matchups plan is probably more to occasionally rest the right-handed Logan Forsythe and Asdrubal Cabrera against right-handed pitchers than it is to get Franklin optimal at-bats. Franklin's OPS against righties is .070 points higher than against lefties, so this should at least help his slash line. However, confirming the back-up role means he isn't of much fantasy use barring an injury.

Franklin is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Braves, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.

Franklin made his season debut Sunday as he went 2-for-5 with a double after returning from an oblique injury, but he'll be held out of the lineup as Logan Forsythe will get the start at second and the Rays lose the DH playing in Atlanta. Franklin figures to draw regular starts going forward, but they may elect to ease him back into the lineup at first.

Franklin made a strong return from the DL, going 2-for-5 in an 11-3 win over the Twins on Sunday.

While Franklin got the start at second base Sunday, the Tampa Bay Times is reporting he will primarily serve as a backup to Logan Forsythe and Asdrubal Cabrera in the middle infield. If he doesn't get regular starts, Franklin's fantasy value in 2015 is negligible.

It's definitely significant Franklin is starting at second base immediately, as the Rays could have stuck with Logan Forsythe there and pushed Franklin into a utility role. However, Forsythe is at DH for Sunday, so there's a chance they're giving him a day off from fielding and still view him as a bat (.296/.364/.488 in 2015) they want starting at second base. The Rays are extremely flexible with lineups, so check back in the next couple of days to see what direction they're going with at second base.

Franklin wasn't expected to join the Rays until Tuesday or Wednesday, but it appears a change of plans has occurred. He'll instead rejoin the roster Saturday, and should be available to play Sunday.

Franklin's rehab seems to have gone smoothly in the last few weeks, hitting .286/.400/.333 with Triple-A Durham. A Tuesday return should be very reasonable and he will likely function as a bench bat in the middle infield when he comes back.

Frankin is naturally going to take some days off while rehabbing an injury as nagging as obliques, missing one game shouldn't be seen as a setback.

Franklin (oblique) went 1-for-3 in his first rehab game with Triple-A Durham on Tuesday. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Franklin's assignment with Durham is expected to last at least two weeks.

Logan Forsythe and Tim Beckham have been productive working in tandem at second base for the Rays thus far, lessening the need to rush Franklin back. Even the production were lagging at the position, the duration of Franklin's absence necessitates a lengthy rehab assignment to get his timing back at the plate.

Given that he's missed the first month of the season, Franklin may need a somewhat lengthy assignment with the Rays' minor league affiliates before he's ready to join the mix for playing time at second base.
