Josh Childress replaced Grant Hill on Wednesday after Hill left the game with a sore knee.
Childress had eight points and four boards in 21 minutes and could be worth a deep-league look if Hill's knee injury lingers.

Tue Jan 31 201207:27Josh Childress works way back into rotation
Josh Childress has worked his way back into Alvin Gentry's rotation.
"Athletically, he (Childress) kind of gave us something," he said. "He's really the one guy who hadn't had an opportunity to be out there and be out there with the starters. I went back with him, and I liked what I saw." Childress played a season-high 18 minutes on Monday, but he's averaging just 2.8 points and 2.0 rebounds this season in the eight games he's played.

Mon Jan 9 201215:41Josh Childress out of the rotation
Coach Alvin Gentry confirmed that Josh Childress has fallen out of the rotation.
Childress is behind Grant Hill, Jared Dudley, Shannon Brown and Hakim Warrick on the wing. "He's got every right to be upset," Gentry said. "I just don't know how I can get him into games. He comes to practice real professional and works his butt off." Childress hasn't had a real NBA role since the 2007-08 season while with the Hawks.

Sun Dec 25 201109:31Josh Childress could lose job to Warrick
Josh Childress may lose his backup SF job to Hakim Warrick.
Warrick has looked good during training camp and the Suns want to get him into the rotation, but there's very little room behind Channing Frye and Markieff Morris at PF. Neither Childress nor Warrick are likely to have value in average leagues this year.

Fri Dec 23 201111:48Gentry: Childress needs to be more active
Alvin Gentry wants Josh Childress to be more active.
"I told him, at that position, Grant gets a couple layups a game just because of the effort he runs with. He's just got to crank it up." Not exactly a ringing endorsement from Gentry, and the coach also added that he needs to defend better, so clearly the swingman has something to prove.

Tue Dec 20 201116:46Childress starting at SF for PHX
Josh Childress is getting a chance to run with the Suns' starting lineup in the small forward slot for as long as Grant Hill is sidelined.
Suns coach Alvin Gentry has set his starting lineup for Tuesday's preseason game at Denver. With Grant Hill sitting out due to his sore knee, Gentry will start Marcin Gortat, Channing Frye, Josh Childress, Jared Dudley and Steve Nash. Most observers think this will be the Suns' starting lineup for Opening Night, but Gentry has said he might look at a different lineup in the Suns other preseason game on Thursday night.

Thu Dec 15 201110:43Josh Childress feeling comfortable in Phoenix
Josh Childress is feeling more comfortable now that he's in his second season with the Suns.
I'm more relaxed mentally. Obviously, I'm going to be intense. The more calm you are, you're able to play off instinct instead of feeling like you're running around with your head cut off." Childress also added that he plans to be more assertive, and it sounds like the team might have a real idea as to how to use him this season. Regardless, he's not on the fantasy radar currently.

Sun Apr 3 201110:02Josh Childress in Suns' rotation down stretch
Josh Childress figures to stay in the Suns' rotation during their five-game roadtrip, while Mickael Pietrus rehabs back in Phoenix.
As fantasy owners are aware, it hasn't been a good season for Childress. He has battled a broken finger and a glut of swingmen, while shooting 1-of-13 from downtown on the season, after making 36% of his threes in four season with the Hawks.

Tue Mar 15 201101:13Josh Childress goes off in loss to Houston
Josh Childress came off the bench to hit 7-of-10 shots and a 3-pointer for 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block on Monday.
He basically rendered Mickael Pietrus and Jared Dudley useless, while this was the kind of line we thought Childress might put up on a regular basis this season. However, he hasn't gotten enough run to do so and we're guessing this was more of a fluke than a sign of things to come. Keep an eye on him.

Wed Jan 12 201102:17Childress ho-hum in start for injured Hill
Josh Childress started for injured Grant Hill (knee, ankle) on Tuesday, and scored five points on 2-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, two assists, and a block in 25 minutes.
It was rumored that a strong performance could knock Mickael Pietrus (15 minutes, eight points, three rebounds) out of the rotation completely, and we won't know until Alvin Gentry comments if that will be the case. Either way, there's no fantasy value to speak of for either guy.
Tue Dec 21 201000:39Childress sighting on Monday vs. Spurs
Josh Childress got extended run with the Suns shorthanded on Monday, and scored 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting with five rebounds, no assists, one steal, and one block in 29 minutes off the bench.
He could end up being valuable for the Suns, but there are way too many wings on the Suns right now for him to be picked up in most leagues. Just keep an eye on how things shake out in the next week or so.
Wed Dec 8 201007:40Childress still playing with splint
Josh Childress (finger) will still have to wear a splint on his right (shooting) hand for two more weeks.
The splint is on Childress' right-index finger, just about the worst possible spot for a shooter. He's averaging just 5.5 points a game, leaving him way off the fantasy radar.

Fri Dec 3 201010:00Josh Childress may play PF off Suns bench
Josh Childress, who is just 0-of-4 from downtown this season, may soon play some PF off the Suns bench.
Childress is readjusting to the rigors of the NBA and has been dealing with a splint on his fractured finger, so a slow start is to be expected. Suns coach Alvin Gentry explained, "I need to play him more in positions where he can be closer to the basket...We've just got to find a way to get him on the court more."

Wed Dec 1 201017:03Childress to continue playing with splint
Josh Childress is expected to continue playing with a splint on his hand for two more weeks.
Regardless of how much the splint is hindering him, Childress is averaging just 6.1 points in 18 minutes per game this season and belongs on the waiver wire in standard-sized leagues.

Tue Nov 16 201002:17Childress nears double-double on Monday
Josh Childress neared a double-double on Monday, scoring 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting with eight rebounds and a block in 21 minutes off the bench.
He's a jack-of-all-trades type coming off the bench, seeing time at multiple positions, and has strung together a couple of (relatively) decent games now. His production isn't at a level where he should be owned, but he's worth watching in deeper leagues.
Sun Nov 7 201021:25Childress productive in return to Atlanta
Josh Childress played 22 minutes off the bench on Sunday, contributing 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting with six rebounds and two assists.
While it's a nice story for Childress that he had his best game as a Sun in his return to Atlanta, he remains largely useless to fantasy owners.
Thu Nov 4 201001:49Josh Childress returned to action on Wednesday November 3
Josh Childress returned to action on Wednesday November 3.
Wed Nov 3 201014:50Update: Childress will play on Wednesday
As expected, Josh Childress (hip) will play on Wednesday.
Childress is averaging just 3.3 points per game off the bench thus far and belongs on the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues right now.

Tue Nov 2 201016:02Josh Childress (hip) expects to play Wed.
Suns swingman Josh Childress sat out Tuesday's practice with a sore hip, but he expects to play vs. the Spurs on Wednesday.
Childress is already playing with a fractured right index finger, and his role off the Suns' bench is too small for use in typical fantasy leagues.

Tue Nov 2 201004:47Childress to play with splint for four weeks
Josh Childress said he must play with a splint on his right-index finger for at least four more weeks, which includes 14 games.
"I'm trying to not think about it and just play," Childress said. "There will be a play where I go up for a rebound or I try to go for a steal, and I start thinking about it again. It's probably going to bother me until it's healed." Owners in standard sized leagues can do better on the wire.
