RHP Dan Straily was announced as the starter for Friday's series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Straily pitched seven shutout innings on Sunday allowing just three hits over his 99 pitches.

"I was able to throw my fastball whenever and wherever I wanted to. I felt good all day on the mound. Had good command of everything."

RHP Dan Straily got a quality start on Friday, allowing three runs in six innings. Still, though, Straily (4-6) picked up the loss as Miami prevailed 3-1. Straily, who has a 4.35 ERA, allowed six hits and two walks, striking out two.

RHP Dan Straily (4-5,4.34 ERA) makes his 19th appearance of the season, 16th start and first career appearance against the Marlins as the Reds open a three-game weekend series in Miami. Opponents are batting just .214 against him. His eight quality starts rank second on the staff next to Brandon Finnegan's nine. Straily allowed three runs and two hits in a seven-inning no decision last Saturday at Washington.

It's just tough to take but you got to take it and come back tomorrow and win the game tomorrow and take three out of four from them. "

RHP Dan Straily will start on Saturday in Washington. He is 8-9 with a 4.38 ERA this season, 0-0 with a 3.34 in his only appearance against the Nationals -- last month in Cincinnati.

RHP Dan Straily lasted only 3 2/3 innings on Monday night, allowing a career-high seven earned runs. "So much of it comes down to pitch accuracy," manager Bryan Price said. "He just wasn't crisp with his command. You saw a lot of balls on the barrels. (Straily) just wasn't real sharp."

RHP Dan Straily dropped to 3-3, 4.65 ERA in 10 career games (nine starts) against Texas. Opponents are hitting just .207 (62-for-300) against him this season. He matched his career high for earned runs (10) allowed in a two-game stretch (also May 10-13). He is 0-2, 8.71 ERA in his last two starts to raise season ERA from 3.15 to 3.83.

RHP Dan Straily (4-3, 3.66 ERA) makes his 16th appearance and 13th start of the season Wednesday. It will be his 10th career appearance and ninth career start versus the Rangers and his sixth career start in Arlington. Opponents are hitting .211, ninth-best mark in the National League. Straily has the only scoreless outing by a Reds starting pitcher this season (May 15 at Philadelphia, five innings). His seven quality starts rank second on the staff.

RHP Dan Straily gave up six runs, seven hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings on Thursday against the Braves. It was his shortest start since going 4 2/3 against the Cubs on April 23. Straily also struck out and the team's pitchers are hitless in 43 at-bats dating to May 22.

RHP Dan Straily will make his 12th start of the season and his first career appearance against Atlanta. Straily has allowed a combined three runs over 14 innings in his last two starts. Opponents are batting only .199 against Straily, fifth-best in the National League.

RHP Dan Straily held the Nationals hitless for 5 2/3 innings following Anthony Rendon's two-run homer in the second which accounted for the only two runs Straily allowed. He retired 11 straight in one stretch. But, Danny Espinosa's solo homer in the eighth off Ross Ohlendorf tied the score 3-3 earning Straily a no-decision.

RHP Dan Straily struck out a career-high-tying 11 batters Wednesday, doing so for the first time since April 5, 2013, at Houston as a member of the Oakland Athletics. Straily recorded his fifth quality start but still took the loss, his second of the year, giving up three earned runs on three hits and walking one in seven innings. Straily is tied with LHP Brandon Finnegan for the team lead in quality starts. "I don't think hitters see (Straily) very well," manager Bryan Price said. "I think there's some natural deception and movement, and he's got a slider that's a swing-and-miss pitch and a really nice changeup. ... He's taking advantage of an opportunity that most people don't get. He sees this opportunity, and really, he's made himself our best starting pitcher."

RHP Dan Straily pitched five scoreless innings on Friday against Seattle before running out of steam in the sixth. He allowed one earned run and four hits over 110 pitches. "I didn't have my best stuff," Straily said. "I worked with what I had to get as deep into the ballgame as I could. I've got to work on cutting down my pitch count early in the game so I can go deeper into the game."

RHP Dan Straily threw five innings of shutout ball to pick up the win in a 9-4 victory over Philadelphia. He gave up six hits and three walks while striking out six. It was his second win in three May starts, after picking up no-decisions in six of his first eight starts of the season. It wasn't a terrific start, as he labored through 109 pitches, but afterward he said he had a blood blister on his hand that had limited him to mostly fastballs and changeups. "It was more frustrating than tough, because I just expect better of myself," he said. "At the end of the day, I was able to get through five (innings)."

RHP Dan Straily will make the 51st start of his career on Sunday but his first against the Phillies. In five starts this season, he has a 3.54 ERA and has held opponents to a .216 batting average.

RHP Dan Straily earned a no-decision Monday when he allowed two earned runs and four hits in six innings. He cruised through five innings on 72 pitches, holding the Pirates to two hits. Both of his runs allowed came in the sixth. "I'm just trying to fill up the strike zone with quality pitches," Straily said. "That's the consistency I'm looking for."

RHP Dan Straily pitched well again on Wednesday, allowing three runs, two on solo homers, and six hits in 6 1/3 innings in a 7-4 win over the Giants. It was a much-needed respite for the Reds' struggling bullpen.

RHP Dan Straily had his longest outing in three starts since being moved to the rotation from the bullpen, pitching six innings and allowed two runs and five hits with three walks and five strikeouts. The Reds claimed Straily off waivers from the San Diego Padres on April 1, just two days after he had been acquired from the Houston Astros in a trade. "He was good," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "Good tempo, did some really good things with his breaking ball. They were swinging the bat really well coming out of their road series and he gave us a chance to win the game."

RHP Dan Straily will make his third start since moving into the rotation Friday night, when he takes the mound for the Reds in the opener of a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Straily didn't factor into the decision last Saturday, when he allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five over 4 2/3 innings in the Reds' 13-5 win over the Chicago Cubs. This will be Straily's sixth appearance of the season overall. He is 1-0 with 3.55 ERA in four previous appearances (one start) against the Pirates.
