Fri May 15 201516:33Rasmus not in lineup Friday against Blue Jays
Rasmus is not in the lineup Friday against the Blue Jays.
Rasmus' bat has gone cold of late, as he's managed just one hit in his last four games (15 at-bats) and seven base knocks in 40 at-bats to begin May. He will sit Friday against right-hander R.A. Dickey, and it's possible Rasmus could lose out on more time to Preston Tucker if he doesn't pick it up soon.
Tue May 5 201516:48Rasmus out of lineup for Tuesday's game against Rangers
Rasmus is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
With the Astros facing yet another southpaw, Robbie Grossman will get his second consecutive start in left field. Rasmus hasn't been used as a strict platoon player, but he figures to be frequently held out of the lineup against lefties. The Astros are oddly facing a southpaw for a fifth time in the last six games Tuesday night. They're slated to face the Angels' Hector Santiago on Thursday, but the schedule then lines up for a long stretch of right-handed opponents.
Mon May 4 201516:36Rasmus not in lineup Monday against Rangers
Rasmus is not in the lineup Monday against the Rangers.
Rasmus is coming off of an 0-for-3, three strikeout performance against the Mariners on Sunday, but has otherwise been swinging well as he sports a slash line of .257/.329/.554 with five homers. Robbie Grossman will give him the day off Monday, filling in as the left fielder in his stead.
Thu Apr 30 201516:19Rasmus out of lineup for Thursday's game against Mariners
Rasmus is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.
While he hasn't exclusively been used as a platoon player this season, Rasmus will likely find himself out of the lineup more often than not when the Astros face a left-handed starter. With James Paxton taking the hill for Seattle on Thursday, it'll be Robbie Grossman starting in left field for the Astros. Rasmus thus far has a ridiculous strikeout rate (39.1) that's unsustainable even for him, yet he still has a .254/.319/.524 slash line, thanks to four home runs and an also-unsustainable .375 BABIP.

Rasmus hit his fourth home run of the season -- a two-run shot off Padres' starter Andrew Cashner -- during Wednesday's 7-2 win.
Rasmus went 3-for-13 (.231) with four runs, two homers, five RBI and a stolen base during the three-game series with the Padres that ended Wednesday. He also fanned seven times during the series while walking only once.

Rasmus hit his second home run of the season Monday against the Mariners.
Rasmus hit a solo shot in the fifth inning off Mariners' starter Hisashi Iwakuma that traveled 424 feet over the wall in right center field. It was his only hit of the game in four at-bats. Through 11 games, the 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .200/.273/.500 with a double, triple, two home runs and three RBI for the Astros.
Sun Apr 19 201511:17Rasmus back in lineup Sunday against Angels
Rasmus is back in the lineup Sunday against the Angels.
Rasmus has been spelled by Robbie Grossman three times in the last five games after a cold start to the year, but will get the starting nod in center field over Jake Marisnick on Sunday. Grossman will hold down left field while George Springer maintains his regular role in right.
Sat Apr 18 201515:32Rasmus out of lineup Saturday against Angels
Rasmus is out of the lineup Saturday against the Angels.
Manager A.J. Hinch will turn to Robbie Grossman to man left field Saturday, sending Rasmus to the bench for the third time in five games. Rasmus is 2-for-12 with six strikeouts in his career against Saturday's starter C.J. Wilson, and he figures to continue sitting against all lefties.
Wed Apr 15 201516:25Rasmus isn't in lineup Wednesday against Athletics
Rasmus isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Athletics.
Rasmus will get the day off Wednesday with the left-handed Drew Pomeranz on the mound for the A's. The move comes as no surprise given his career .213/.286/.360 against south paws, with Robbie Grossman starting in left in his place.
Mon Apr 13 201516:26Rasmus not in lineup Monday against Athletics
Rasmus is not in the lineup Monday against the Athletics, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports.
With lefty Scott Kazmir slated to start for the A's, Rasmus will once again take a seat. He didn't start the last time the club faced a lefty, but still ended up with a pinch-hit home run. Robbie Grossman will start in left field, batting second.

Fri Apr 10 201512:29Rasmus not in lineup Friday against Rangers
Rasmus is not in the lineup Friday against the Rangers.
Rasmus, who hit .195 against lefties last season, will sit with Derek Holland on the hill for the Rangers. Robbie Grossman will start in left field and bat eighth in his stead.
Wed Apr 1 201508:01Rasmus hit third home run of spring Tuesday against Braves
Rasmus hit his third home run of the spring Tuesday against the Braves.
Rasmus is hitting .241 (7-for-29) in 13 Grapefruit League appearances, but his three home runs are tied for the team lead and he has more walks (nine) than strikeouts (seven). The 28-year-old figures to split time with Jake Marisnick in center field and draw most of his starts against right-handed pitchers.
Tue Jan 20 201516:26Rasmus expected to sign with Astros
Rasmus is expected to sign with the Astros, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Rasmus and the Astros reportedly have a one-year deal in place that's worth more than $4 million, though nothing has been made official. Rasmus appeared in 104 games for the Blue Jays last season but hit just .225 and saw his playing time dwindle later in the year. He's proven to be a productive player in the past, however, as he hit .276 with 66 RBI and 22 home runs in 2013. Rasmus should compete for the everyday center field position in Houston.
Sun Sep 14 201410:56Rasmus in lineup for Sunday's game against Rays
Rasmus is in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, according to John Lott of the National Post.

Sun Sep 7 201412:12Rasmus out of lineup Sunday against Red Sox
Rasmus is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
Rasmus appears to be a mainstay on the bench for the Blue Jays at this point even after Melky Cabrera suffered a season-ending injury Friday. Anthony Gose has taken on the duties in center field, while Kevin Pillar is the starter in left.
Sat Sep 6 201416:12Rasmus not in lineup for Saturday's game against Red Sox
Rasmus is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox, according to Sportsnet's Barry Davis.
An injury suffered by Melky Cabrera apparently was not enough for Rasums to get back into the lineup, as both Kevin Pillar and Anthony Gose will start the game over him. Including Saturday's game, Rasmus has started just two of the last 10 contests for the Blue Jays.
Fri Sep 5 201416:36Rasmus out of lineup again Friday
Rasmus is out of the lineup again Friday, Barry Davis of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Despite his late-game heroics Thursday night -- he homered to break a scoreless tie in the 10th inning -- Rasmus will find himself on the bench for a fourth straight game Friday and for the seventh time in the last nine games. Rasmus now has 17 homers on the year, but he's getting on base at just a .289 clip and it seems manager John Gibbons is intent on evaluating some of the team's other options over the remainder of the year, with Rasmus set to become a free agent in 2015.
