Rasmus swatted a pinch-hit home run in the top of the 10th inning during Thursday's 1-0 win at Tampa Bay.
It was Rasmus' first action since Sunday, as it appears as though Toronto is going to look at other outfielders down the stretch, notably Anthony Gose. Rasmus, who is batting just .228, still has some power, as his game-winning homer was his 17th long ball of the season.
Wed Sep 3 201416:20Rasmus not in lineup Wednesday against Rays
Rasmus is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
It looks like Rasmus' playing time is going to dwindle after the Blue Jays added Anthony Gose, Dalton Pompey and John Mayberry to the outfield mix over the last few days. Given Rasmus' .287 on-base percentage and mounting strikeout totals, it's hard to fault manager John Gibbons for the decision. The talented but enigmatic outfielder could be dealt elsewhere in the offseason, which may help resuscitate a career that remains stuck in neutral.
Sat Aug 30 201411:49Rasmus not in lineup Saturday against Yankees
Rasmus is not in the lineup Saturday against the Yankees.
Rasmus will sit for the third time in the past four games due to an illness. He went 2-for-3 at the plate Friday as the designated hitter, but will yield the start again Saturday to Kevin Pillar, who will man center field in his place and bat ninth for the Blue Jays.
Fri Aug 29 201415:37Rasmus (illness) back in lineup as DH on Friday
Rasmus (illness) is back in the lineup as the DH on Friday, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Kevin Pillar will continue to man center field, but Rasmus owners will at least benefit from his presence in the starting lineup again following a two-game absence.
Wed Aug 27 201416:19Rasmus (illness) not in lineup Wednesday against Red Sox
Rasmus (illness) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox, MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm reports.
For the second straight day, Kevin Pillar will man center field while Rasmus recovers from the illness. Rasmus should benefit from the Blue Jays' open date in the schedule Thursday, and could be healthy and ready to go for the team's weekend series with the Yankees.
Tue Aug 26 201418:25Colby Rasmus: (Illness) A Late Scratch
Rasmus was a late scratch Tuesday with an illness, SportsNet's Shi Davidi reports.
It's not clear how serious the illness is, but Kevin Pillar will replace him in center field Tuesday. Consider Rasmus day-to-day for now.
Sat Aug 2 201416:36Rasmus not in lineup for Saturday's game against Astros
Rasmus is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros, Barry Davis of Sportsnet.ca reports.
With the Astros throwing left-handed Brett Oberholtzer, the Jays will use a righty-heavy lineup featuring the likes of Steve Tolleson, Nolan Reimold and Danny Valencia. Left-handed Anthony Gose, who has now started 14 of the last 15 games, will get the nod in center field over Rasmus. The Jays have typically found room in the lineup for both Gose and Rasmus, but that will start to change as the team gets healthy in August.
Thu Jul 31 201420:13Rasmus scratched from Thursday's lineup due to internal team dec...
Rasmus was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to an internal team decision, which was likely caused by the outfielder's late arrival to the ballpark, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports.
The theory is backed up by MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm, who notes that Rasmus has previously had issues with getting to the park on time. While the presumed lack of an injury is good news for fantasy owners, it isn't a good sign that Rasmus is drawing the ire of the Toronto organization while in the midst of a terrible season. Both Rasmus and Anthony Gose have been regulars in the lineup recently, but Gose may emerge as a threat to Rasmus' playing time once the Jays start to get healthy. That said, Gose offers very little in the batter's box, and Rasmus was productive last season.
Thu Jul 31 201419:49Colby Rasmus: Scratched Shortly Before First Pitch
Rasmus has been scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Astros, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
With Rasmus a last-second scratch, Nolan Reimold will serve as designated hitter while Anthony Gose covers center field and Jose Bautista handles right. No injury has been reported, but the timing hints that Rasmus probably isn't healthy.
Tue Jul 29 201422:26Rasmus belts 14th homer in support of Stroman
Colby Rasmus went 2-for-4, including a solo home run, as the Blue Jays enjoyed a victory over the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Rasmus broke a scoreless tie in the top of the second, taking Rubby De La Rosa out to center field. The 27-year-old outfielder has been quiet as the month of July has gone on, but still maintains a slugging-heavy .223/.285/.459 slash line with 14 home runs and 33 RBI.

Fri Jul 18 201422:16Rasmus smacks solo homer in loss
Colby Rasmus was 2-for-4 with a solo homer Friday against the Rangers.
His solo blast off Yu Darvish in the seventh inning was the only offense of the night for the Blue Jays. Rasmus came into Friday's action with a 2-for-23 slump. He's only hitting .217 this season, but has 13 home runs in just 60 games.

Mon Jul 7 201420:12Rasmus to platoon with Mastroianni
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Monday that he will platoon Colby Rasmus and Darin Mastroianni in center field for a while until someone gets hot.
Rasmus has 12 homers and 27 RBI over 54 games this season, but he's batting just .216/.270/.463 overall and is hitting .167/.286/.333 versus lefties. It's worth a shot, but Mastroianni (a career .218/.283/.300 hitter over 290 plate appearances) is unlikely to do much damage.

Tue Jun 17 201410:00Rasmus (hammy) hitless in latest rehab game
Colby Rasmus (hamstring) went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts Monday in his latest rehab game with Triple-A Buffalo.
Rasmus is now just 3-for-19 with nine strikeouts during his rehab assignment. He's healthy, but the Blue Jays might want to see some better results before bringing him back from the DL. The 27-year-old outfielder has been sidelined for a month with a strained right hamstring.

Fri Jun 13 201418:56Rasmus unlikely to return before Tuesday
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Friday that regardless of how Colby Rasmus (hamstring) performs on his rehab assignment the next few days, he's unlikely to rejoin the Blue Jays before Tuesday.
Gibbons also hinted at the possibility that it could be even longer than that. The team is playing it very cautiously as they bring Rasmus back from a strained right hamstring, in an effort to let it fully heal and avoid the threat of re-injury, especially while playing half of his games on the turf in Toronto.

Thu Jun 12 201415:47Rasmus (hamstring) cleared for rehab games
Colby Rasmus (hamstring) is set to begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Buffalo.
Rasmus has been on the disabled list for close to a month with a strained right hamstring. If all goes smoothly, he should be back with the Blue Jays early next week. The center fielder was batting .222/.266/.489 with nine homers and 19 RBI in 37 games before the injury.

That's what Blue Jays manager John Gibbons told reporters Thursday morning. Rasmus has been on the disabled list since May 15 with a strained right hamstring.
