Sun Mar 30 201412:58White Sox' Beckham (oblique) lands on DL
White Sox placed 2B Gordon Beckham on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.
The White Sox had conceded last week that Beckham was going to need some down time. He's slowly ramping up baseball activities but isn't unclear when he might be ready for rehab games. Marcus Semien will handle the second base duties while Beckham is sidelined.

Wed Mar 26 201415:16Gordon Beckham (oblique) to begin year on DL
Gordon Beckham (oblique) will begin the season on the disabled list.
Jeff Keppinger (shoulder) will also begin the year on the disabled list, so the White Sox will have Marcus Semien start at second base and Leury Garcia on the roster as a backup infielder. Beckham is slowly ramping up baseball activities as he works his way back from a strained left oblique and should have a chance to rejoin the team at some point in April.

Tue Mar 25 201408:48Beckham (oblique) doing limited activity
Gordon Beckham (oblique) has performed limited baseball activities over the past two days.
However, Beckham has yet to test his oblique and the White Sox are preparing for the possibility that he'll begin the year on the disabled list. "It's tricky," said White Sox manager Robin Ventura. "We have to wait and make sure he's ok, doesn't go out and hurt himself again, then you lose him for 15 more days. Just being very careful with him." Marcus Semien will likely play second base if he begins the year on the DL.

Sun Mar 23 201413:36Beckham (oblique) likely to start year on DL
White Sox general manager Rick Hahn sounded skeptical about Gordon Beckham's ability to be ready for Opening Day.
Beckham has been dealing with a strained oblique since March 15, but the second baseman said he's confident he'll be ready during an interview Friday. Hahn is less sure. If Beckham does start the year on the disabled list, Marcus Semien will likely get the first shot at holding down the keystone in his absence.

Fri Mar 21 201412:11Gordon Beckham remains confident for opener
Gordon Beckham (oblique) said Friday that he remains confident he'll be ready for Opening Day.
Beckham has been shut down for a week with a strained left oblique, but he'll "move around a little" on Saturday. He's obviously going to have to do more than that before being cleared to return to action, so we'll just have to see how he feels over the next week.

Sat Mar 15 201416:51Beckham sidelined by left oblique strain
Gordon Beckham won't do any baseball activity for seven days after sustaining a strained left oblique.
It's a blow to Beckham, who's probably on his last chance with the White Sox. The injury also hurts the team, as they're also missing Jeff Keppinger at the keystone. Even if healty, the 27-year-old isn't a player to target outside of deep AL-only leagues.

Fri Mar 14 201408:18Beckham-for-Cervelli deal a possibility
Joel Sherman of the New York Post writes that a trade built around Gordon Beckham and Francisco Cervelli is "not impossible."
The White Sox have been connected with Cervelli, who is on the trade block, and Beckham would make sense as a piece going the other way given the Yankees' needs at second base. It seems likely that the Yanks would have to give up more in the deal. Cervelli could be helping his stock with three homers this spring.

Tue Mar 11 201419:15Beckham homers against the Rangers
Gordon Beckham went 1-for-4 with a home run against the Rangers on Tuesday.
Beckham hit a solo homer off of Joe Saunders in the third inning, his first of the spring. Unfortunately, he is hitting only .217 in the Cactus League and is coming off of four consecutive seasons with a sub-.700 OPS, which makes him one of the more unappealing options at second base in fantasy leagues.

Mon Mar 3 201411:14Gordon Beckham out Monday with soreness
Gordon Beckham was scratched from Cactus League action on Monday because of general soreness.
Beckham told reporters that it's nothing major. He batted just .267/.322/.372 with five home runs and 24 RBI in 103 games last season for the White Sox and is not a great fantasy bet for the 2014 campaign. Second base is deeper this year than it has been in a long time.

Fri Jan 17 201413:45Gordon Beckham, White Sox avoid arb.
White Sox avoided arbitration with 2B Gordon Beckham by agreeing to a one-year, $4.175 million contract.
Beckham was arbitration-eligible for the second time. The former first-rounder posted a sub-.700 OPS for the fourth straight season in 2013, hitting .267/.322/.372 with just five homers.

Fri Sep 27 201323:01Gordon Beckham hits solo homer vs. Royals
Gordon Beckham smacked a solo homer in a loss to the Royals on Friday.
It was the only offense of the evening for the White Sox. Gordon only has five home runs in 400 plate appearances this season. His hamate bone surgery is likely a big reason for the drop in power, but the White Sox could decide to finally turn the page this winter.

Beckham hit .335 in 158 at-bats in the first half, but he's reverted to old form now. The White Sox may give serious thought to non-tendering him this winter and going with Marcus Semien at second base next year.

Fri Aug 16 201318:16Gordon Beckham could return on Saturday
White Sox manager Robin Ventura indicated Friday that Gordon Beckham (quad) could return to the lineup as early as Saturday.
Beckham has done a nice job for the White Sox, hitting .310/.361/.418 in his 67 games, however the ineptitude of the rest of the lineup has led to just 31 runs and 17 RBI. Jeff Keppinger will continue to fill-in at second base in his absence while Conor Gillaspie mans the hot corner.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura expects Gordon Beckham to miss "a couple days."
Beckham's right quad has been bothering him for a while now, and it finally became bad enough that he had to leave Thursday's game. While it's not serious, it sounds like he might not play this weekend.

Thu Aug 15 201321:36Gordon Beckham leaves with strained quad
Gordon Beckham left Thursday's game against the Twins with a right quad strain.
The White Sox are calling the removal precautionary, so it appears to be a mild strain. Still, Beckham will likely be re-evaluated on Friday before it's determined how long he might be out. Jeff Keppinger took his spot at second base Thursday.

Thu Aug 8 201301:00Beckham homers, doubles in win over Yankees
Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run against the Yankees on Wedensday.
Beckham now has three straight multi-hit games, raising his average to .310 in the process. The homer, just his third of the season, came off starter CC Sabathia, and the double started a ninth inning rally against closer Mariano Rivera. He's seeing the ball well right now.

Tue Aug 6 201323:49Beckham picks up two hits against Yankees
Gordon Beckham went 2-for-3 with a run scored against the Yankees on Tuesday.
Beckham picked up his 13th double of the season in 206 at-bats and registered multiple hits in his second straight game. He's cooled some since his fast start but is still hitting .306/.342/.408 for the year. The issues with his wrist seem to be in the past.
