"We kind of talked yesterday, but he [specialist] said he wasn't going to determine anything until today," said Farmer, who still hadn't had that conversation deep into Friday evening.

Farmer (forearm) underwent an MRI on Thursday, which revealed no structural damage, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.

Farmer exited Wednesday's game with tightness in the forearm, but it doesn't look to be anything serious. He'll join the Tigers in Cleveland in advance of Thursday's game, but it's unclear whether he'll be available out of the pen.

His ERA now stands at an ugly 8.21, and the only silver lining to Farmer's start was that the bullpen pitched even worse behind him in what ended up being a 15-1 rout by the Blue Jays. Assuming the Tigers don't try someone else in his place, his next start would come Friday, at home against the Indians.

Farmer allowed three hits, three earned runs and three walks in 5.1 innings of work Monday. He struck out three and two of the hits were home runs.

If there's any consolation, the effort dropped his ERA to 7.80. But that still doesn't make him fantasy worthy, even in streaming situations.

The Tigers will be forced to turn back to Farmer to fill a starting role with Daniel Norris (oblique) landing on the DL. Farmer was clobbered for 15 earned runs on 23 hits and four walks in three starts for Detroit earlier this season (14.2 innings), and will make for an extremely high-risk option Monday in Great American Ballpark.

Well, at least he's more successful coming out of the pen than as a starter. But he still has a distance to go to provide fantasy value in that role.

Farmer has struggled in his earlier outings with the Tigers, allowing 12 runs over 10.1 innings in his two starts and another two in 3.1 innings of relief earlier in July. His recall Tuesday and subsequent demotion of Kyle Ryan could put him in line for another start if Alfredo Simon (groin) can't go.
