Thu Jun 14 201209:26James Jones will be available for Game 2
James Jones (migraine) is expected to be available for Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Thursday.
The most playing time Jones has seen in a postseason game this year is 17 minutes, so we're not expecting any miracles. Regardless, he'll be available should Erik Spoelstra choose to deploy him.

Wed Jun 13 201209:12James Jones dealing with migraine issues
James Jones did not play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals due to a migraine.
Miami thought he would be able to play earlier on Tuesday, but it turned out that he wasn't feeling well enough to give it a go. He should be available for Game 2 on Thursday.

Thu Apr 19 201221:15James Jones ejected for Flagrant-2 foul
James Jones was ejected from Thursday's game during the second quarter after intentionally shoving Joakim Noah.
Jones was assessed a Flagrant-2 and it's doubtful there will be any additional punishment from the league. He was clearly trying to send a message to Noah in advance of the playoffs.

Tue Apr 17 201202:35Jones (hand) returns to action on Monday
James Jones (hand) returned to action on Monday, scoring three points on 1-of-5 shooting (including a three) with two assists, a steal, and a block in 30 minutes off the bench.
Jones needs a lot to work in his favor to pan out in fantasy leagues, even for those owners that are simply hunting 3-pointers.

Mon Apr 16 201218:00James Jones ready to play Monday
James Jones (hand) will play in Monday's game against the Nets.
Jones said his Sunday dislocation wasn't a big deal and it turns out he was right. With Dwyane Wade resting, Jones is in line for a start at shooting guard. He's averaged 6.3 points and 1.4 3-pointers in that role this season.

Sun Apr 15 201215:59James Jones needs X-rays on hand
X-rays on James Jones' left hand Sunday revealed a mere sprain.
Jones appeared to sustain the injury when he got pushed into a screen by Iman Shumpert. The damage is on his non-shooting hand. If Jones ends up sidelined, the Heat can simply turn to Mike Miller as their designated sharpshooter off the bench. Regardless, Jones says he will be fine.

Sat Apr 14 201200:45James Jones scores six points in start
James Jones started for a resting Dwyane Wade on Friday, scoring six points on 2-of-7 shooting (2-of-5 from deep) with two assists in 24 minutes.
If Wade misses time down the road, give Jones a look for his 3-point shooting and nothing more.

Sun Apr 8 201222:00James Jones hits six treys in Wade's absence
James Jones got hot and hit 6-of-8 shots (all six were 3-pointers) for 18 points and four steals in Sunday's easy win.
Dwyane Wade was out with an ankle injury and Norris Cole has fallen out of the rotation. Jones could start to get some nice run for the Heat, so keep an eye on him if you need a 3-point shooter. Just beware that he hadn't scored in his previous nine games.

Tue Jan 17 201214:49James Jones expected to start Tuesday
James Jones is expected to start Tuesday's game against the Spurs.
Dwyane Wade (ankle, foot) is out indefinitely. Jones has started three games this season, averaging 23.9 minutes, 9.0 points and 2.3 3-pointers per night in those contests. He'll have to deal with the expected return of Mike Miller (sports hernia) tonight.

Sat Jan 14 201212:46James Jones fallen out of Heat rotation
James Jones played just two minutes on Friday and isn't sure why he's fallen out of the rotation.
Jones fell behind rookie Terrel Harris but said that he's staying ready for the next time coach Erik Spoelstra calls his number. If Miami continues to lose (three straight and counting) we could see more minor shakeups, similar to Spoelstra's replacing Joel Anthony with Dexter Pittman.

Fri Jan 6 201201:25Jones strikes out for spot-starters vs. ATL
James Jones hit just 2-of-7 shots from the field (including one three) in Thursday's triple-overtime win, scoring five points with one rebound and a steal in 27 minutes.
A disappointing result considering Jones was added as a spot-starter in many leagues, and also because of the length of the game. Jones just couldn't get things going and is a desperation option only if LeBron James (ankle) or Dwyane Wade (foot) miss any more time.

Wed Jan 4 201222:55James Jones hits four 3-pointers in start
James Jones started for the Heat with Dwyane Wade out with a foot injury on Wednesday and had 14 points and four 3-pointers on 4-of-9 shooting.
If Wade can't go on Thursday at Atlanta, Jones is probably worth a spot start if you need threes.

Fri Dec 9 201111:13James Jones to re-sign with Heat
Free agent James Jones has agreed to re-sign with the Heat.
Terms of the deal aren't yet known, but Jones' agent said that he is "excited to be there and looking forward to trying to win a championship." Jones will provide his usual deadly perimeter shooting, but shouldn't be relied upon for more than a handful of 3-pointers.

Wed Jun 29 201114:06James Jones opts for free agency
James Jones has declined his $1.4 million option for next season and become a free agent.
This one comes as something of a surprise, as a report last week indicated that the Heat were expecting Jones to opt in. The 30-year-old could potentially have some deep league fantasy value as a three-point specialist in the right situation, but averaged just 5.9 points per game for Miami last year.

Sat Jun 25 201111:31Heat expect House, Jones, Chalmers to return
Heat president Pat Riley expects Eddie House and James Jones to both exercise their player options and return with Miami next season.
Assuming Mario Chalmers also returns, the Heat would enter the offseason with 12 spots already filled in their 15-man roster.

Wed Jun 1 201119:58James Jones ready to get back in mix
James Jones is expected to make his return to the Heat's rotation in Game 2 after sitting out recently with a toe injury.
He hasn't played since Game 2 against the Bulls, but with Mike Miller hurting and Jones finally healthy, that should change in Thursday's Game 2. "I'm rockin' and rollin'," he said after Wednesday's practice. "I'm ready to go."

Tue May 31 201112:22Everyone available for Heat Tuesday
Coach Erik Spoelstra confirmed that all his players are ready to play in Tuesday's Game 1 against the Mavs.
James Jones (toe) is out of his walking boot and available. If the Mavs go to a zone with their second unit, Jones may get some minutes. Mike Miller isn't sleeping much with a newborn daughter at home, but he is ready as well. With Udonis Haslem now healthy, the Heat finally have some depth.

Mon May 30 201112:05James Jones working out without walking boot
James Jones (toe) has shed the walking boot he had been utilizing during the Miami Heat's series against Chicago.
This is a positive development for Jones, who has been hampered by the toe injury as well as a bad back over the last couple of weeks. With the emergence of Mike Miller, Jones probably won't have any 20-plus point outbursts like he did in Game 1 vs. Boston, but a healthy Jones provides depth to a Miami team that doesn't have a lot of it.
