Sat May 28 201116:01James Jones (toe) available to play in Finals
James Jones (toe) felt better on Saturday and will be available to play in the Finals if necessary.
Jones has had a few shining moments in the playoffs, like his 25-point outburst in Game 1 vs. Boston, but he's since fallen out of the rotation. It's possible that his outside shooting will get him back on the court, as the Mavericks aren't shy about employing zone defenses.

Thu May 26 201114:44Jones says more time off will help
James Jones (toe) sat out Thursday's shootaround.
No surprise here. Jones is in a walking boot and says his toe needs rest to get back to full strength. He'll be available tonight, but we're not expecting him to see the court.

Thu May 26 201112:09James Jones is in a walking boot
James Jones (foot, toe) sat out practice Wednesday and was spotted in a walking boot.
Jones said he could play if needed, but we're not expecting to see him. With Mike Miller looking sharper than he has all season, there's not room for Jones.

Tue May 24 201111:03James Jones dealing with foot, toe woes
James Jones is battling foot and toe injuries, according to coach Erik Spoelstra.
Jones logged zero minutes in the Game 3 win over the Bulls and two minutes in Game 2. Spo said that his playing time going forward will be "situational," which is another word for sparingly. With Udonis Haslem back and Mike Miller finally giving the Heat something, Jones is getting squeezed out.

Mon May 2 201115:28James Jones sets playoff record in Game 1
James Jones scored 25 points in Game 1 against Boston without attempting a 2-point field goal, setting an NBA record.
The previous record was 21 points by Robert Horry in 1997, as owners of Jones in fantasy playoff leagues are loving life after Sunday's performance.

Sun May 1 201118:45James Jones goes off for Heat in game 1 win
James Jones scored 25 points (5-of-7 shooting, all three's) and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the foul line in Sunday's game 1 win over Boston.
He might have been thought of as Mike Miller's insurance policy prior to this season, but now it looks like it's the other way around. He did his damage in just 28 minutes of activity and may prove to be the defining X-factor in this series for Miami.

Thu Apr 7 201100:18Jones starts for injured Dwyane Wade
James Jones started for injured Dwyane Wade (thigh) on Wednesday, and scored five points on 1-of-5 shooting (1-of-4 from downtown) with five rebounds and one assist in 33 minutes.
We weren't expecting much, if anything, from him. He's a desperation play to load up on threes, at best.

Wed Mar 30 201117:45James Jones to play despite stomach virus
James Jones will play in Wednesday's game against the Wizards despite fighting off a stomach virus.
Miami is a three man show but if anyone is going to have a fantasy splash it would probably be Jones. He's only good for threes and scoring but with Mike Miller(knee) out there's a chance that Jones could see more shots his way. Consider him an outside chance fantasy surprise tonight.

Wed Feb 23 201114:49James Jones misses practice, should play
James Jones (hip) missed practice on Wednesday but is expected to play on Thursday.
The three-point contest champion is averaging just 6.4 points per game and is only a consideration in much deeper leagues.

Sat Feb 19 201122:01James Jones wins 3-point contest
James Jones scored 20 points in the final round of the Foot Locker 3-point Contest on Saturday, upsetting defending champion Paul Pierce as well as Ray Allen.
Pierce pulled off some clutch shots in the final rack of Round 1, knocking Dorell Wright out and sliding into the finals with Allen and Jones. Pierce's 18 in the final round looked like a possible winner, but Jones topped him by two for the win.
Thu Jan 27 201123:08James Jones starts for Bosh, hits five 3's
James Jones started in place of Chris Bosh (high ankle sprain) for the Heat on Thursday, and scored 15 points on five 3's. All nine of his shot attempts were from downtown.
James Jones benefited from the open looks his all-star teammates provide. He may have another nice game or two while Chris Bosh is out, but when all the Superfriends are playing, he won't get enough opportunities to be useful.
Sat Jan 22 201123:30James Jones scores 15 in start for Heat
James Jones started for the short-handed Heat on Saturday and finished with 15 points, four rebounds and two 3-pointers on 4-of-6 shooting.
He had a nice game, but with Mike Miller catching fire tonight, Jones won't be worth a look once Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade are back in action.
Wed Dec 29 201011:37Jones a beast at taking charges
James Jones has taken 20 charges this season, 10 more than anyone else on the Heat.
It's another reason Mike Miller isn't getting burn. Nothing pleases a coach more than taking a charge. Miller has a ways to go to get real burn in this lineup. The Heat have won 15 of their last 16 games.

Sat Nov 13 201023:51Jones hitting threes again after back injury
James Jones got back on track after suffering a back injury suffered on Tuesday, and hit three 3-point shots on his way to 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting with five rebounds and no assists on Saturday.
He just three points on Thursday, but it looks like the folks using him as a three-point specialist can rest a little better after tonight's result.
Fri Nov 12 201002:07Jones (back) plays, scores three points
James Jones, who was dealing with back soreness as a result of a hard fall in Tuesday's game against the Jazz, played 18 minutes on Thursday and scored three points with one rebound and two assists.
Jones was averaging 26 minutes per game before the fall, but he was understandably limited just one game removed from it. Eddie House also played 18 minutes and was significantly more productive, scoring 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting with two three-pointers.
Thu Nov 11 201018:28Heat's Jones set to go for Thursday night
James Jones is reportedly ready to go for Thursday's matchup with the Celtics.
Jones took a hard fall in Tuesday, but owners in daily leagues should feel free to activate the three-point specialist for Thursday night.

Wed Nov 10 201014:54James Jones to be re-evaluated Thursday
James Jones (back) will be re-evaluated prior to Thursday's tilt with the Celtics.
Jones took a hard fall in Tuesday's game against the Jazz. At this time, he should be considered questionable to play. If he can't go, Eddie House would be worth a spot-start as a source of three-pointers.

Wed Nov 10 201000:08James Jones (back) aching after game
James Jones played 28 minutes in Tuesday's overtime loss to the Jazz, and said his back was so sore after the game that he didn't think he could drive home.
He finished with 11 points on 2-of-5 shooting (all threes) and went to the foul line for the first time all year and hit all five FTs. He's getting good run (27 minutes per game) as a threes specialist, but with this news it's possible Eddie House (13 minutes, two points) takes his role.

Thu Nov 4 201010:10Jones has permanent green light
Coach Erik Spoelstra said he has given James Jones the permanent green light to bomb away.
Sometimes, coaching is easy. Jones is absolutely on fire, making 18-of-34 (51.3 percent) 3-pointers so far this season. "The way he's shooting now, I don't care if the ball goes in or not," Spoelstra said. Jones is a fantasy asset right now, but he's really just a one-trick pony.

Wed Nov 3 201000:20Jones hits five threes, House hits four
James Jones hit five 3-point buckets on Tuesday, scoring 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting with six rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes off the bench.
Fellow chucker Eddie House also had four 3-pointers for 15 points and not much else. These two guys are going to have a handful of games like this, and if you are in need of threes and can handle the overall lack of production, they're both worth a look.
