Sat Jul 30 202219:00San Francisco Giants Listening To Offers On Carlos Rodon, Others
The San Francisco Giants are now listening to offers for veteran players, according to Jon Heyman. With the Giants in a freefall, going 2-8 in their last 10 and falling four games out of the final wild card spot, this change in philosophy makes sense. While Carlos Rodon and Joc Pederson are the obvious trade targets, veterans like Brandon Belt, Mike Yastrzemski, Jakob Junis, Wilmer Flores, Brandon Crawford, Alex Wood, and Evan Longoria all have contracts expiring either this year or next and are out of team control. If the Giants do decide to sell, there are a lot of interesting names available.

Thu Jul 28 202211:54Giants Intend To Keep Carlos Rodon, Joc Pederson
The San Francisco Giants continue to convey to other teams that they aren't sellers, and at the moment they intend to hang on to possible free-agent starting pitcher Carlos Rodon and outfielder Joc Pederson. Rodon signed a two-year deal in the offseason, but he has triggered an opt-out clause after going past 110 innings this year. The Giants have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games and are currently at 48-50 and 17.5 games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. They also sit 3.5 games out of the second wild-card spot in the NL. Rodon and Pederson have both been great for the Giants this year and made the All-Star team, so they'd like to hang onto them if they think a postseason appearance is possible.

Wed Jul 20 202218:31Carlos Rodon To Open Second Half On Thursday
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (finger) will open the second half against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday. The left-hander didn't pitch during the All-Star game due to a blister in his finger. This doesn't sound like an issue that is going to linger into the second half. The 29-year-old holds a 2.66 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 131/35 K/BB ratio over 105 innings in his 18 starts. He'll be key to the Giants success in the second half of the season.

Sat Jul 16 202220:39Carlos Rodon Dealing With Finger Issues
San Francisco Giants pitcher Carlos Rodon (finger) has a blood blister and a split nail. The southpaw allowed one run on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven across five innings in last Thursday's start against the Milwaukee Brewers. He won't pitch in the All-Star game due to his minor finger injuries. The 29-year-old has been terrific this season, posting a 2.66 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 131:35 K: BB across 105 innings. It's unclear if Rodon will miss a start after the All-Star break, but he will have a few days off to fully recover ahead of his next start.

Fri Mar 25 202211:22Carlos Rodon Has Successful Spring Debut
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Carlos Rodon fanned four batters on just 40 pitches and generated nine swinging strikes in 2 2/3 innings in his Cactus League debut on Thursday against his former team, the Chicago White Sox. The left-hander also gave up two hits and a run but didn't walk anyone while throwing 40 pitches. Three of Rodon's strikeouts came on his fastball, which was sitting between 96-98 mph. "I could see what all the hype is about," catcher Curt Casali said. "Between that fastball and slider combination, it's legit. It's probably one of the best, if not the best, left-handed sliders I've ever seen." After posting a 2.37 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 185 strikeouts in 132 2/3 innings over 24 starts last year, Rodon is a solid SP2 target, albeit with some injury risk.

Fri Mar 11 202216:17Carlos Rodon Agrees With Giants
The San Francisco Giants agreed to a two-year, $44 million deal with left-hander Carlos Rodon on Friday, according to sources familiar with the deal. The contract includes an opt-out clause after the first season. It's an excellent landing spot for the 29-year-old southpaw starter in terms of fantasy outlook. Rodon has had trouble with injuries and walks in the past, but he put it all together in 2021 with the Chicago White Sox, posting a 2.37 ERA and 34.6% strikeout rate in 132 2/3 innings over 24 starts in his first All-Star season. He'll be a high-reward, high-risk fantasy starter, and his fantasy ADP will only go up after this signing.

Fri Mar 11 202209:30Carlos Rodon's Medical Evaluation Looking Clean
Free-agent starting pitcher Carlos Rodon has been linked to a number of teams this offseason, and the interest for him may continue to rise. According to Andy Martino of SNY, the clubs who have seen Rodon's medical information have been satisfied, indicating he is healthy going into the 2022 season. The 29-year-old has had a number of injuries over the years, but he's coming off his best season, a year in which he was able to mostly stay healthy. Wed Mar 9 202212:17Yankees Looking At Carlos Rodon
The New York Yankees requested/received medicals for free-agent left-hander Carlos Rodon before MLB's lockout began in early December. Rodon should have plenty of interest around the league once the lockout is lifted, possibly as early as Wednesday, after sporting a 2.37 ERA and 0.96 WHIP while striking out 185 and walking 36 in 132 2/3 innings over 24 starts for the Chicago White Sox in 2021. The 29-year-old southpaw has had trouble staying healthy in the past -- he had a career-high 165 innings back in 2016 -- and also had control issues as well, but if he pitches like he did last year, Rodon could be extremely valuable once again in fantasy. Pitching in the Bronx and the tough American League East has its obvious drawbacks, though.

Sun Nov 7 202119:56Carlos Rodon Doesn't Receive Qualifying Offer
Chicago White Sox left-hander Carlos Rodon did not receive a one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer from the team on Sunday, making him a free agent. An All-Star in 2021, the 28-year-old southpaw went 13-5 last year with a 2.37 ERA to help the team win the American League Central division. There have been indications that the Pale Hose are unlikely to re-sign Rodon after they extended right-hander Lance Lynn at the All-Star break and with Michael Kopech destined to return to a rotation that already includes Lucas Giolito, Dylan Cease and Dallas Keuchel for 2022. Rodon dealt with second-half shoulder fatigue, so despite his excellent campaign, perhaps that played a part in the team not extending him the qualifying offer as well.

Tue Sep 21 202107:40Carlos Rodon Experiences Arm Soreness On Monday

He was removed from the game after the third inning when he first started feeling sore. White Sox manager Tony La Russa told reporters that he was concerned after the game and said that Rodon would be examined further on Tuesday. Rodon allowed two hits, two walks and three runs (two earned) while striking out six in Monday's start. His velocity was down during the start with his last fastball clocking in at 89 mph, down from his season-long average of 95.5 mph. It sounds like the southpaw could be headed for a trip to the injured list, but we should have more clarity after he undergoes further testing on Tuesday.
