Wed Jul 9 201400:07Holmberg allows five runs in season debut
David Holmberg struggled in his season debut on Tuesday, allowing seven hits and five runs in 2 2/3 innings against the Cubs.
Holmberg was recalled to start the second game of the teams' doubleheader for lack of a better option, and he was fortunate to escape with a no-decision. The southpaw served up three home runs among his seven hits allowed, and he walked three more on the evening. He'll be returned to Triple-A Louisville promptly, and it may be a while before we see the 22-year-old again.

Sun Jul 6 201416:15Holmberg will start against Cubs on Tuesday
Reds manager Bryan Price announced Sunday that David Holmberg will be recalled to start one of the games in Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
The 22-year-old southpaw has pitched better of late, but owns a 5.28 ERA and 1.85 WHIP over 44 1/3 innings at Triple-A Louisville. He should be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Sun Jul 6 201409:58David Holmberg likely to start Tuesday
David Holmberg is likely to be recalled to start during Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Cubs.
The Reds haven't made an announcement regarding who will start, but they tipped their hand when they removed Holmberg from Friday's start at Triple-A Louisville after just 50 pitches (and no runs allowed). The left-hander holds a 1.21 ERA over his last four starts for Louisville.

Mon Apr 14 201417:57Holmberg shelled in weekend outing
Reds prospect LHP David Holmberg was hammered for six runs on six hits and a walk on Sunday for Triple-A Louisville.
The 22-year-old left-hander managed to record just one out before he was chased from the game. Holmberg posted a 2.75 ERA in 157 1/3 innings at Double-A Mobile last season and even made an uneventful spot start in the majors for the Diamondbacks. He was acquired by the Reds during the offseason as part of a three-team trade and provides the organization with left-handed rotation depth in the high minors.

Tue Dec 3 201314:48Reds to acquire LHP Holmberg from D-Backs
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Reds will acquire left-hander David Holmberg from the Diamondbacks in a three-team trade.
The Rays are the third team in the trade and are set to acquire Ryan Hanigan. Heath Bell is also said to be involved in the deal, though it's unclear where he's headed. Holmberg, 22, posted a 2.75 ERA over 26 starts this season in Double-A and made his major league debut in August. He could have a future as a backend starter.

Wed Aug 28 201302:22David Holberg lasts 3 2/3 in debut
Making his major league debut, David Holmberg lasted 3 2/3 innings and allowed three runs Tuesday in a no-decision versus the Padres.
Holmberg may have a future in the majors, but the Diamondbacks should have plenty of better rotation options going forward. It'd be a bad idea to give him any additional starts this year.
