Strickland gave up three runs (one home run) over an inning of work in his spring training debut against the Athletics.
Strickland has an overpowering fastball, but his issue last postseason was his inability to limit the long ball. This proved to be an issue in his first appearance of spring training when Jason Pridie went yard off the hard-throwing righty. The Giants want Strickland to work on developing his slider so that opposing hitters don't simply sit on his fastball. He is expected to be part of the Giants' Opening Day bullpen, but he will have to limit his home runs allowed if he wants to be used in high pressure situations.
