Tue Sep 23 201416:38Moss out of lineup Tuesday against Angels
Moss is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Moss will ride the pine for a second straight day, with another lefty (Wade LeBlanc) toeing the rubber for the Angels. Another southpaw, Hector Santiago, is set to start Wednesday's finale for Anaheim, so Moss, who's batting .167/.265/.357 so far in September, may very well sit yet again.
Mon Sep 22 201417:54Moss out of lineup Monday against Angels
Moss is out of the lineup Monday against the Angels.
Nate Freiman will get the start at first base against the Halos, as Moss gets a day off after starting four straight games. Moss has had a significant collapse in the second half, but he hit two home runs last week, which may give owners hope that he can be a useful piece over the final week of the season.
Wed Sep 17 201417:34Moss out of lineup Wednesday against Rangers
Moss is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rangers.
Moss has provided home runs in back-to-back games to snap a massive power outage, and it looks like manager Bob Melvin doesn't want his run of success to end against lefty Derek Holland. Nate Freiman will enter the lineup in Moss' place.

Moss clubbed his 25th home run of the year Tuesday, while going 1-for-2 at the dish with a walk and an RBI and two runs scored.
Moss has now hit home runs in back-to-back games and is in the midst of a four-game hitting streak after struggling for most of September. He now has a .240/.335/.451 slash line in 475 at-bats this year.

Moss homered Sunday for the first time since July 24 in the A's win over the Mariners.
Because so many things have gone wrong for the A's in the last month, it was easy to blame the Yoenis Cespedes trade on their struggles. Getting Moss back to where he was, or at least a close facsimile of that, would help assuage their power concerns.
Fri Sep 12 201417:46Moss out of lineup Friday against Mariners
Moss is out of the lineup Friday against the Mariners, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
With another lefty (James Paxton) due up for the opposition, Moss will sit in favor of Nate Freiman at first base for a second straight day. Moss will likely continue to play exclusively against right-handers over the remainder of the season.
Thu Sep 11 201411:11Moss out of lineup Thursday against White Sox
Moss is out of the lineup Thursday against the White Sox, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Manager Bob Melvin has all but rid his lineup of lefty-only bats to face White Sox ace Chris Sale, as per usual, with the lone exception being Sam Fuld in right field. Look for Moss, who's just 1-for-17 to begin September, to continue platooning at first base with Nate Freiman.

Moss will get the night off with the A's employing a righty-heavy lineup against White Sox starter John Danks. Nate Freiman will man first base for the A's on Tuesday night.

Moss is out of the lineup Friday against the Astros.
With lefty Brett Oberholtzer on the hill for Houston, Moss will once again sit in favor of Nate Freiman at first base. It looks like Moss will remain in a strict platoon role for the foreseeable future, meaning he'll continue to sit whenever the team faces a southpaw.
Tue Sep 2 201416:11Moss out of lineup Tuesday against Mariners
Moss is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners.
The M's are trotting out a lefty in James Paxton, so manager Bob Melvin will stack his lineup with righty bats, with the starting nod at first base given to Nate Freiman. Moss went 0-for-3 Monday to lower his second-half line to .178/.316/.248, and it looks like he'll continue to play exclusively against right-handed pitching for the foreseeable future.

Moss was 0-for-2 on Friday night to further extend his post All-Star Break slump.
Moss cannot seem to get out of his slump and is now hitting under .200 in August after hitting only .233 in July. Moss had at least four homers in every month this season prior to August, but he has zero so far this month with only four RBI in 69 at-bats. Moss will continue to play against righties as the A's need his bat in the lineup, but fantasy owners have to think about benching him until he shows any signs of life.
Tue Aug 26 201417:39Moss out of lineup Tuesday against Astros
Moss is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Astros.
Moss will ride the pine for the third time in five games with another lefty (Dallas Keuchel) on the hill for the opposition, opening the door for Nate Freiman to make another start at first base. The 30-year-old Moss has hit just .189/.308/.261 with two homers since the All-Star break, after posting an .879 OPS with 21 homers in the first half, and it appears as though he'll play exclusively against right-handers over the remainder of the season.
Sat Aug 23 201416:57Moss out of lineup again Saturday
Moss is out of the lineup again Saturday.
The slumping Moss will once again start the game on the bench for the second straight game. He'll likely make a pinch hit appearance, but Moss has hit below the Mendoza line in the second half and has just two home runs in 28 games since the All-Star break. Nate Freiman will get the start at first base.
Fri Aug 22 201416:12Moss out of lineup Friday against Angels
Moss is out of the lineup Friday against the Angels.
After a huge first half, where he hit 21 home runs and batted .268 in 89 games, Moss has been ice cold, hitting just .190 with two home runs in 27 games after the All-Star break. Nate Freiman will get the start at first base Friday in his stead.

Moss is out of the lineup Friday against the Braves.
With lefty Alex Wood on the hill for Atlanta, Moss will head back to the bench for the second time in three games as Nate Freiman steps in at first base. Although Moss is batting .282/.356/.462 against lefties this season, he's batting just .213/.314/.303 since the All-Star break and manager Bob Melvin will likely continue to shield him from southpaws until he's fully back on track.
Wed Aug 13 201416:10Moss out of lineup Wednesday
Moss is out of the lineup Wednesday vs. the Royals, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Moss has quelled the discussion of his recent slump with Tuesday's four-hit performance, but he'll find himself on the bench Wednesday with lefty Jason Vargas starting for the Royals. Nate Freiman will cover first base for the Athletics as a result, but expect Moss to slot back into the lineup Thursday with righty James Shields on the mound.
Wed Aug 6 201419:52Moss continued struggles on Wednesday, going 0-3 and now holds 1...
Moss continued his struggles on Wednesday, going 0-for-3 and now holds a 17 at-bat hitless streak.
After a great first half with 21 homers and 65 RBI that earned Moss his first All-Star berth, he has hit a very rough patch since the Break. Moss is 10-for-64, a mere .156 average, with two homers and six RBI since July 18. This slide should not affect Moss' playing time for now with the A's needing his bat in the middle of their order, but could lead to him sitting against almost all left-handers.
Tue Aug 5 201417:57Moss out of lineup Tuesday versus Rays
Moss is out of the lineup Tuesday versus the Rays.
After emerging from an outing July 26 with a .266/.345/.520 slash line, Moss has tallied two hits (both singles), one RBI, one run, and three walks versus 10 strikeouts in 28 at-bats. While he attempts to work out of his slump, newcomer Jonny Gomes is covering left field and batting cleanup.
