Moss is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Moss has seen regular starts at first base with an occasional fill-in at left field, but he'll get the day off while Stephen Piscotty takes first and Tommy Pham covers left.

Moss went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in a 4-3 loss to the Nationals on Wednesday.

After a dreadful first month in St. Louis, it appears Moss is finally finding his groove. In his current seven-game hit streak, Moss has four homers and seven RBI. His playing time is still in question, but if he continues to hit like this, Moss will be in the lineup nearly every day.

Moss hit his third home run with the Cardinals in exciting fashion, launching a three-run walk-off in the bottom of the night and finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the win over Washington.

Moss also scored the game-tying run in the bottom of the eighth before providing the heroics an inning later. He's hitting .239/.363/.448 since joining St. Louis.

Moss went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and two walks in a 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

This was his first dinger as a Cardinal and it's his first real contribution in all honesty. Since joining the Cardinals, he is batting below .200 and had just one RBI coming into this game. With all the injuries in the outfield, they'll need more games like this out of him.

Moss has been scratched from Friday's lineup against the Padres.

Moss' removal from the lineup is due to the late addition of Jason Heyward to the order, which in turn moved Stephen Piscotty into Moss' spot in left field. Since joining the Cardinals, Moss has struggled mightily at the plate, going 7-for-42 with 12 strikeouts.

Moss will remain out of the lineup for a third straight game Sunday against the Marlins.

Moss was expected to enjoy the larger portion of a platoon at first base with Mark Reynolds for the Cardinals upon being acquired at the trade deadline, but with a 5-for-34 (.147) mark through 11 games, he could be turning into just another bench bat for the club. No longer guaranteed to even play against right-handed-pitching, Moss' fantasy value appears to be on a serious downturn.

The Cardinals continue to use something of a platoon at first base, with Mark Reynolds getting the nod Friday. Moss has just three hits in his last seven games, and has not drove in a run over that stretch, so he may start to see playing time slip if he can't get going at the plate.

Moss isn't in Thursday's lineup against the Pirates.

Moss's absence Thursday likely relates to the left-handed Francisco Liriano toeing the rubber for the Pirates. As a result, Stephen Piscotty will start at first base in his place, batting seventh for the Cardinals.

Moss will get a rare day off against a right-handed pitcher to finish out the season's first half. He's on pace for 26 homers, 86 RBI and 63 runs, but the Indians can't be pleased with his .221/.297/.429 slash line.

Moss has played in every game since May 27, but he'll get the night off Thursday as David Murphy gets the nod in right field. Moss will likely be available as a pinch hitter.
