Moss has seen regular starts at first base with an occasional fill-in at left field, but he'll get the day off while Stephen Piscotty takes first and Tommy Pham covers left.

Moss went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in a 4-3 loss to the Nationals on Wednesday.
After a dreadful first month in St. Louis, it appears Moss is finally finding his groove. In his current seven-game hit streak, Moss has four homers and seven RBI. His playing time is still in question, but if he continues to hit like this, Moss will be in the lineup nearly every day.

Moss hit his third home run with the Cardinals in exciting fashion, launching a three-run walk-off in the bottom of the night and finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the win over Washington.
Moss also scored the game-tying run in the bottom of the eighth before providing the heroics an inning later. He's hitting .239/.363/.448 since joining St. Louis.

Moss went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and two walks in a 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
This was his first dinger as a Cardinal and it's his first real contribution in all honesty. Since joining the Cardinals, he is batting below .200 and had just one RBI coming into this game. With all the injuries in the outfield, they'll need more games like this out of him.
Fri Aug 21 201519:24Moss scratched from Friday's lineup against Padres
Moss has been scratched from Friday's lineup against the Padres.
Moss' removal from the lineup is due to the late addition of Jason Heyward to the order, which in turn moved Stephen Piscotty into Moss' spot in left field. Since joining the Cardinals, Moss has struggled mightily at the plate, going 7-for-42 with 12 strikeouts.

Moss will remain out of the lineup for a third straight game Sunday against the Marlins.
Moss was expected to enjoy the larger portion of a platoon at first base with Mark Reynolds for the Cardinals upon being acquired at the trade deadline, but with a 5-for-34 (.147) mark through 11 games, he could be turning into just another bench bat for the club. No longer guaranteed to even play against right-handed-pitching, Moss' fantasy value appears to be on a serious downturn.
Fri Aug 14 201516:06Moss not in Friday's lineup against Marlins
Moss is not in Friday's lineup against the Marlins.
The Cardinals continue to use something of a platoon at first base, with Mark Reynolds getting the nod Friday. Moss has just three hits in his last seven games, and has not drove in a run over that stretch, so he may start to see playing time slip if he can't get going at the plate.
Thu Aug 13 201516:09Moss isn't in Thursday's lineup against Pirates
Moss isn't in Thursday's lineup against the Pirates.
Moss's absence Thursday likely relates to the left-handed Francisco Liriano toeing the rubber for the Pirates. As a result, Stephen Piscotty will start at first base in his place, batting seventh for the Cardinals.

Moss hit a walkoff, pinch-hit single to help defeat the Rockies on Sunday.
Moss will still sit against lefty starters, but this was his first big impact with the team.
Sun Aug 2 201513:12Moss out of lineup Sunday against Rockies
Moss is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rockies.
Acquired from the Indians on Thursday, Moss hasn't made an impact in his first three games with the Cardinals, batting 1-for-10. He'll sit Sunday with lefty Yohan Flande on the mound for the Rockies, but Moss is set to assume the larger portion of the timeshare at first base with Mark Reynolds.
Thu Jul 30 201516:06Moss not in lineup for Thursday's game against Rockies
Moss is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch reports.
Moss is presumably available for Thursday's game with Matt Holliday (quad) landing on the disabled list, but he will not start with left-hander Chris Rusin on the mound for the Rockies. Strange as it may seem, Moss is hitting lefties (.789 OPS) far better than righties (.644 OPS) this season.

Moss will be added to the Cardinals' roster in advance of Thursday's game against the Rockies, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Moss was acquired from the Indians on Wednesday night, and he's expected to take the roster spot of Matt Holliday, who is headed for the DL after injuring his leg Wednesday night. Moss can play the outfield, as well as first base, but he's hitting just .217 with a .289 on-base percentage this season.

Moss's acquisition by the Cardinals was confirmed by the team Thursday morning.
The deal to send Moss to St. Louis had been reported earlier in the morning, but the Cardinals confirmed the acquisition just a short time ago. Moss will see plenty of playing time between first base and the outfield, though he may not be the everyday player he was in Cleveland, which risks adversely affecting an already-diminished fantasy value.
Thu Jul 30 201509:30Brandon Moss: Dealt To St. Louis
Moss was traded to the Cardinals on Thursday in exchange for pitching prospect Rob Kaminsky, Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Neither team has yet confirmed the report.
Moss is having a down year offensively, posting the lowest OPS (.695) of any season in which he's collected more than 26 at-bats. Even with those struggles, much of the power has still been there, as the 31-year-old is just five long balls away from his third straight 20-homer season. Moss could immediately slot into left field if Matt Holliday's quad injury forces him out more time than expected, and should also be line for reps at first base to share with Stephen Piscotty and Mark Reynolds.
Thu Jul 30 201507:30Brandon Moss: Dealt To St. Louis
Cleveland Indians outfielder Brandon Moss was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Cleveland Indians outfielder Brandon Moss was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Indians acquired pitching prospect Rob Kaminsky in exchange for Moss, who is hitting .217 with 15 home runs and 50 RBI in 94 games this season.
Fri Jul 24 201515:23Moss not in lineup Friday against White Sox
Moss is not in the lineup Friday against the White Sox, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Moss has been mired in a major slump of late, hitting just .169 in July, which has dragged his season average down to .218. He'll get the day off Friday against White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana, despite the fact that he's hitting a respectable .266 against southpaws on the year.
Sun Jul 19 201510:09Moss out of lineup Sunday against Reds
Moss is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
The Indians are down a lineup spot with no DH available in Cincinnati, so Moss will sit for the first time in the series while David Murphy mans right field. Moss connected on a two-run homer in Saturday's contest, giving him 15 on the season.
Sun Jul 19 201501:00Moss 1-4 with two-run homer and walk Saturday in Cincinnati
Moss went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk Saturday in Cincinnati.
Moss came into this game mired in an 0-for-21 slump, but connected on his 15th blast of the season in the third inning. The 31-year-old outfielder's all-or-nothing approach at the plate leaves him susceptible to prolonged slumps, but also has him on pace to break 20 homers for the fourth straight season. Moss is currently slashing .218/.294/.429, as he has declined in all three categories for three years in a row since peaking in 2012.
Sun Jul 12 201510:01Moss not in lineup for Sunday's game against A's
Moss is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the A's.
Moss will get a rare day off against a right-handed pitcher to finish out the season's first half. He's on pace for 26 homers, 86 RBI and 63 runs, but the Indians can't be pleased with his .221/.297/.429 slash line.
Thu Jul 9 201516:10Moss not in lineup Thursday against Astros
Moss is not in the lineup Thursday against the Astros.
Moss has played in every game since May 27, but he'll get the night off Thursday as David Murphy gets the nod in right field. Moss will likely be available as a pinch hitter.
