Fri Jul 31 201515:19Jaso not in lineup for Friday's game against Red Sox
Jaso is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox, according to MLB.com's Bill Chastain.
Jaso will be held out Friday with the Rays using an all-righty lineup, and a day off for him could be good with him collecting just two hits since July 22. Joey Butler will serve as the Rays' DH on Friday.
Sun Jul 26 201511:02Jaso out of lineup Sunday against Orioles
Jaso is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
With Evan Longoria receiving a day out of the field and occupying the DH spot, Jaso will be forced out of the lineup. Jaso got off to a sizzling start following his return earlier this month from a long absence due to a wrist injury, but he's since fallen into a minor slump. He's 4-for-13 with four strikeouts over the Rays' last six games.
Wed Jul 22 201509:56Jaso not in lineup for Wednesday's game against Phillies
Jaso is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Jason went 2-for-4 playing left field in Tuesday's game, but with the Rays still playing in a National League park and Jaso not a regular in the outfield, he will sit out Wednesday for the second time in three days. Expect Jaso to resume playing regularly when the Rays resume American League play Friday.
Mon Jul 20 201515:10Jaso not in lineup for Monday's game in Philadelphia
Jaso is not in the lineup for Monday's game in Philadelphia, MLB.com's Bill Chastain reports.
With no designated hitter available in a National League ballpark, the Rays will hold Jaso out of the lineup. He's played one game in left field this season, but has otherwise only been used as a DH. Although his concussion history will likely prevent him from catching, he could start in left field or at first base before the end of the series. After Wednesday, the Rays won't play in a National League ballpark again this season.

Jaso is 7-for-16 with a home run and no strikeouts in his first five games following his return from wrist injury.
The sample size is far too small to be confident that the high-on-base, moderate power model of Jaso has truly returned, but it's extremely encouraging to see a hitter slugging .917 after a wrist injury. One of the bigger unknowns going forward is Jaso's role on defense, as he's played DH and left field in his first games, but can also play catcher and received practice at first base in his rehab assignment. First base will probably be an occasion fill-in role behind James Loney, while time at catcher could be a function of how comfortable the Rays are with the oft-injured Jaso's health.

Jaso went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run and a walk in the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Royals.
Jaso had a pinch-hit single in the first half of the doubleheader, but the homer in Game 2 really signified his return after a three-month absence due to a left wrist injury. It is feasible that Jaso could be used atop the Rays' lineup against righties going forward, as he probably serves as an upgrade over Grady Sizemore at this point.

Jaso will bat leadoff in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Royals, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.
The 31-year-old singled in a pinch-hit appearance in Game 1, marking his return following a three-month absence due to a wrist injury. Jaso will step for his second start of the season in the nightcap, taking over at DH and atop the order, pushing Grady Sizemore to the two-hole. It remains to be seen if Jaso will be a regular option atop the order against right-handed pitching.
Tue Jul 7 201511:20John Jaso: (Wrist) Activated From DL
Jaso (wrist) was activated from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.
10 weeks after injuring his wrist on Opening Day, Jaso is finally ready to rejoin the Rays. He had a solid but unspectacular rehab assignment, tallying seven hits (two doubles) and two walks in 28 at-bats between High-A Charlotte and Triple-A Durham. Jaso figures to get most of his at-bats as a designated hitter, but he could also make appearances as a first baseman, corner outfielder or catcher.

The Tampa Bay Rays activated catcher John Jaso from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday following his recovery from a bruised left wrist, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Manager Kevin Cash indicated Sunday that Jaso (wrist) could rejoin the team in Kansas City this week, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jaso is expected to move his rehab to Triple-A Durham from High-A Charlotte on Sunday, and it appears he may spend minimal time there. The veteran backstop has been on the disabled list since the first game of the season, but could provide an added boost to a struggling Rays offense in the near future.

Jaso (wrist) is expected to move up to Triple-A Durham in his rehab assignment Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jaso has performed encouragingly enough at High-A Charlotte, hitting .286/.348/.381 in 23 plate appearances and receiving playing time at DH, first base, and left field. He is still on track for a early-to-mid-July return and could play several positions as the Rays like to do, including DH, catcher, first base, and left field.

Jaso (wrist) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Saturday, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Jaso is also scheduled to play DH for his first few rehab games, with the positions that come after a bit of mystery. A few games at catcher couldn't hurt, especially if he plays enough to get fantasy eligibility there, and the Rays clearly need some depth at first base even if James Loney becomes healthy again.

Tampa Bay Rays catcher John Jaso is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Saturday while recovering from a wrist injury, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Jaso (wrist) said he's aiming to begin a rehab assignment by the end of the week, but still needs to make hard contact before advancing, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jaso said his wrist is "close enough to the point where I can put up a competitive at-bat," so hard contact shouldn't be too large of a hurdle to clear. It will be interesting to see which positions he plays during his rehab assignment, considering that he's receiving practice at first base.

Jaso (wrist) took batting practice for the second straight day and did some work at first base, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jaso has played a grand total of two games at first base in his career, but given how toxic the position has been (a .213/.261/.284 slash line in the last 30 days), the Rays are going to try anything to makes sure they have a quality first baseman during the final stretches of the division race. James Loney is expected to return before Jaso and take first base back, but Tampa Bay is going to want some depth anyway.

Jaso (wrist) didn't get to take batting practice on the field Thursday because of heavy rain, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jaso was scheduled to take batting practice on the field for the first time since suffering his injury. Heavy rain prevented him from doing so, but he figures to take the next step Friday afternoon. Although Jaso will likely require a lengthy rehab assignment once he's ready, he could be back around the All-Star break.

Jaso (wrist) will take batting practice on the field for the first time since his injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
At this point, owners should just be waiting for a rehab assignment as the best sign that Jaso is nearing his return. A good batting practice session could help spur that, but it's possible that could take some time. Until that happens, a week or two after the All-Star break is probably a reasonable expectation for when he comes back.

Jaso (wrist) will travel with the team and participate in on-field pregame work, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.
After making it through all of one at bat this season, Jaso has slowly progressed through his rehab on his wrist and continues to ramp up his work with an eye on just before the All-Star Game for his return. A full rehab assignment is the next step toward his return, but this is a step in the right direction.

Jaso (wrist) took batting practice and fielded ground balls Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jaso has increased his participation in baseball-related activities within the last week as he attempts to recover from a bruised wrist that has kept him out of the lineup since Opening Day. The 31-year-old could begin a rehab assignment in the next couple of weeks and is expected to return from the disabled list shortly before the All-Star break.
