Shawn Kelley (elbow) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Tuesday without any issues.
"All fastballs, felt great," is what Kelley reported on his personal Twitter account. The right-hander is making his way back from partial Tommy John surgery and hoping to contribute out of the M's bullpen by June.

Shawn Kelley (elbow) was scheduled to throw off flat ground Thursday.
Kelley was to throw for 10 minutes at a distance of approximately 120 feet. Assuming all goes well Thursday, he'll begin throwing a "soft" bullpen session. The 26-year-old right-hander is currently working his way back from "modified" Tommy John surgery. The hope is that he could see the big leagues again sometime later this season.

Shawn Kelley is aiming to return from elbow surgery by mid-May.
Kelley posted a 3.96 ERA in 22 relief appearances last season before undergoing partial Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow. "I would love to push it and be ready for the season," the right-hander said Tuesday. "But that's not very realistic or smart. Sometime in May would be a realistic goal for me. We don't know how the throwing progress will go."

Shawn Kelley will undergo exploratory surgery on his right elbow Wednesday.
Dr. Lewis Yocum will perform the surgery. Kelley previously underwent Tommy John surgery in 2003 and is prepared to have it again if necessary. The 26-year-old right-hander posted a 3.96 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over 22 relief appearances before going on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation on June 16.

Mariners reliever Shawn Kelley will undergo exploratory surgery on his ailing right elbow later this month.
"There is going to be an operation," Kelly said Monday. "I'll go in hoping it won't be Tommy John, but it might be the case." The right-hander will miss the rest of the season no matter what exact procedure he requires. He threw up a 3.96 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 25 innings for Seattle this season.

Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu said that Shawn Kelley is likely to need elbow surgery.
The manager said that it's possible Kelley could be back for spring training, but that the team is still waiting to find out what exactly is wrong with the right-hander's elbow. Tommy John surgery would seem to be a possibility, as well, which could knock Kelley out for the entire 2011 season.

An MRI on Shawn Kelley's ailing right elbow Saturday was inconclusive.
The Mariners also gave him a CT scan and are waiting for the results of that test. Kelley was placed on the disabled list in mid-June with inflammation in his right elbow and might eventually need surgery.

Shawn Kelley (elbow) will have an MRI Friday and meet with Dr. Lewis Yocum.
Kelley has been out since late June with elbow inflammation and threw a scoreless inning Monday in a rehab appearance. An MRI would seem to indicate that he might have suffered a setback, but that's not clear at the moment.

Shawn Kelley (elbow) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Saturday.
Kelley will throw another bullpener on Tuesday. If that goes well, he may be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment, or at least a simulated game. "It's definitely right where I need to be to get there," the reliever said Saturday. "I couldn't be happier with how I felt today."

While M's manager Don Wakamatsu said things were "looking up" with his rehab, he also added that Kelley is a "ways away" from going out on a minor league rehab assignment. He will likely need to complete a few bullpen sessions and a simulated game first. Kelley has been on the disabled list since mid-June with inflammation in his right elbow.

Kelley entered June with a 2.25 ERA in 20 innings, but he had struggled of late, giving up runs in three of his last five appearances. He was probably dealing with the sore elbow the whole time.

Kelley, 26, was optioned to Tacoma just a few days ago to clear a spot on the 25-man roster for starter Cliff Lee. He's back now, though, and will try to build on the 2.57 ERA that he posted over six appearances.
