Goins is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against Cleveland.
After starting each of the last two games, Goins will give way to Jonathan Diaz at shortstop. With Jose Reyes (ribs) on the DL, Goins figures to see increased playing time, though he has not proven to be a major threat at the plate in the majors, as he hit just .188 in 181 at-bats last season.

Goins went 2-for-5 with a triple and a run scored in Tuesday's 11-8 victory over the Red Sox.
Goins will be pressed into near-full-time duty with Jose Reyes' rib injury. Goins wasted no time in making an impact at the plate even though he's known more for his glove than his batting prowess. A career .218 hitter, fantasy owners should be leery of the small sample size presented so far. He has limited fantasy value even as the everyday shortstop.

Goins went 1-for-3 with a walk in relief of Jose Reyes in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Rays.
After being called up earlier in the day, Goins quickly got to play, replacing Jose Reyes at the start of the second inning. Goins is a better defensive shortstop than Steve Tolleson and should see plenty of at-bats against righties in Reyes' absence. His fantasy value is still limited due to very little pop in his bat and he doesn't steal bases.
Thu Apr 16 201514:59Goins recalled from Triple-A on Thursday
Goins was recalled from Triple-A on Thursday.
Goins will serve as a bench bat for the Blue Jays and could get sent down when Michael Saunders is activated from the DL in a week or two. With Devon Travis emerging as a strong option at second base, Goins will probably start most games on the bench.
Sat Apr 4 201511:04Goins optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday
Goins was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet.ca reports.
After losing out to Devon Travis for the starting second base job, Goins will head to Buffalo to log regular at-bats. Even if Travis flops as a starter and opens up an opportunity for Goins to reclaim the role, it's difficult to imagine him providing much fantasy utility. Over 181 at-bats last season with the big club, Goins submitted a lowly .188/.209/.271 batting line while supplying just one home run and no stolen bases.

Goins is fighting for the starting second baseman role and could make the roster even if he loses the starting spot, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Goins is having a strong spring at the plate, batting .313 with a double, a triple and a home run. He has never been known for his bat, as he hit just .188 in 67 games with the Blue Jays last season; however, he is one of the strongest defenders in the organization. If Goins isn't tasked with the second baseman role, he could spell both Travis at second and Jose Reyes at shortstop, Goins' natural position. His meager hitting production at the major league level gives him limited fantasy value, but if he continues his improvement at the plate and wins the starting job, he's not a bad play in deeper and dynasty leagues.

Goins was 2-for-3 the game's only RBI as Toronto defeated the Mariners on Wednesday night.
Goins looped a single into shallow centerfield to bring Munenori Kawasaki - who was running with a 3-2 count and two outs - home with the only run of the game in the eighth inning. He is likely the best defensive infielder on the Jays' roster, but he is hitting an anemic .188 so it's hard them to get him into the lineup every day. They will clearly hope to see better offensive output in 2015.
Thu Sep 18 201416:15Goins out of lineup Thursday against Yankees
Goins is out of the lineup Thursday against the Yankees, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Goins has been manager John Gibbons' preferred option at second base in September, but he'll find himself on the bench after producing only one hit in his last 20 at-bats. Munenori Kawasaki gets the start at second base.
Tue Sep 16 201416:10Goins not in lineup for Tuesday's game against Orioles
Goins is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.
Goins will get a day off after starting nine straight games for the Blue Jays. Munenori Kawasaki will get the start at second base in Goins' place.
Tue Sep 2 201411:46The Blue Jays recalled Goins from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday
The Blue Jays recalled Goins from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.
Goins will return to the Blue Jays after spending the last three weeks in the minors. He posted just a .484 OPS in 43 games with the big club earlier this season, but could see some starts at second base if the Blue Jays fall out of the playoff race.
Sun Aug 10 201420:53Goins optioned to Triple-A Buffalo following Sunday's game
Goins was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo following Sunday's game, Blue Jays broadcaster Mike Wilner reports.
Goins started regularly at second base over the last few weeks, but he tallied just three hits in August, so the Blue Jays decided to send him back to Buffalo. With Goins back in the minors and Adam Lind ready to return, expect Munenori Kawasaki to move to second base and leave third base to some combination of Juan Francisco, Danny Valencia, and Steve Tolleson.
Tue Aug 5 201415:56Goins out of lineup Tuesday against Orioles
Goins is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Goins is sitting for the first time since July 27, a span in which he hit .296 (8-for-27) with six RBI and one run scored. In his stead, Munenori Kawasaki will cover the keystone and bat eighth in the order.
Mon Jul 28 201423:02Ryan Goins knocks in four runs
Ryan Goins went 4-for-5 with a double and four RBI in the rout of the Red Sox on Monday.
There's no way Goins is going 4-for-5 with four RBI in a game in which his team doesn't score 14 runs. The second baseman entered with a .175 average and four RBI in 30 games and 80 at-bats this season. He'll continue to play against righties until Brett Lawrie returns, at which point the Jays will reevaluate their situations at both second and third.

Tue Jul 22 201415:21Blue Jays recall INF Goins from Triple-A
Blue Jays recalled INF Ryan Goins from Triple-A Buffalo.
Goins batted just .150/.203/.217 over 24 games with the Blue Jays earlier this season. He's not fantasy relevant.

Tue Jul 22 201409:15Ryan Goins to be called up from Triple-A
Ryan Goins is expected to be called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.
The Blue Jays will also call up top prospect Aaron Sanchez. No word yet on the corresponding roster moves involved. Goins began the year as Toronto's starting second baseman, but he batted just .150/.203/.217 over 24 games before being demoted. Still, he's highly-regarded for his defense and could have value as a backup infielder.

Mon Apr 28 201419:08Ryan Goins optioned to Triple-A
Blue Jays optioned 2B Ryan Goins to Triple-A Buffalo.
The Jays will announce a corresponding move prior to Tuesday's game. Toronto gave Goins every opportunity to run with the starting job at second base, but his good defense wasn't enough to overcome a hideous .150/.203/.217 batting line. Chris Getz or Steve Tolleson seem likely to be promoted to share time at second with Jonathan Diaz.

Thu Apr 17 201416:22Ryan Goins goes hitless in loss
Ryan Goins went 0-for-3 as the Blue Jays' No. 9 hitter on Thursday and is 5-for-36 with 10 strikeouts this season.
Goins is in there for his glove, but he can't be this inept with the bat and still be an adequate regular. If not for Maicer Izturis's injury, he likely would have been in line to lose a lot of playing time following Jose Reyes's return tomorrow. As is, he'll likely remain the primary second baseman, though he will get some competition from Munenori Kawasaki.

Sat Mar 22 201417:25Gibbons backs away from naming Goins starter
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons refuted the idea that he had named Ryan Goins as the starting second baseman.
After media had reported it as fact on Thursday, Gibbons on Saturday said, "I don't think I said Goins was the starting second baseman." Reminded of his previous remarks that he didn't have any doubts about Goins as a starter, Gibbons replied, "Did I say he's officially the second baseman?" It's an incredibly childish tactic, but Gibbons is obviously trying to keep Goins from getting too comfortable with a few days left in spring. When Gibbons decides to name Goins the starter in the coming days, then and only then will it be official.

Thu Mar 20 201409:32Ryan Goins confirmed as Toronto's starting 2B
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons confirmed Thursday that Ryan Goins will be the club's second baseman.
Goins was a .257/.311/.369 hitter in 111 games at the Triple-A level and hasn't done a whole lot this spring in the Grapefruit League, but the Blue Jays love his defense and will let him handle starting second base duties until they find a better option. He has no fantasy value.

Wed Mar 19 201417:24Ryan Goins goes 3-for-4, triples
Ryan Goins went 3-for-4 and tripled against the Phillies on Wednesday.
It was the first extra-base hit of the spring for Goins, who entered with a .154/.214/.154 line. Because his glove is so strong, he doesn't need to be that impressive with the bat to be a useful regular. Still, a .154 slugging percentage probably isn't cutting it.
