Sat Mar 15 201415:50Ryan Goins now 6-for-35 this spring
Ryan Goins went 0-for-3 on Saturday to drop his spring average to .171.
Goins is 6-for-35 with no extra-base hits and three walks. He figures to be one of the AL's weakest regulars offensively if the Blue Jays stick with him as their primary second baseman. He is excellent defensively, though.

Sat Dec 21 201310:54Goins the favorite to start at second base
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons indicated last week that Ryan Goins is the favorite to enter spring training as the team's starting second baseman.
While they could still pursue another option through trade, the Jays like what they saw out of the 25-year-old in 2013. During his 34 games, the rookie infielder slashed .252/.264/.345 with two homers, eight RBI and a 28/2 K/BB ratio. Even if Goins ends up winning the job, he offers minimal upside from a fantasy perspective.

Sun Sep 15 201311:44Ryan Goins impressing the Blue Jays
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said that Ryan Goins has "definitely opened up our eyes."
Goins is hitting only .250/.262/.297 over 20 games this season, but the Jays love his defense at second base. With no set starter at the position next season, he's at least put himself in the conversation for the job. "Nobody knows what's going to happen this offseason, but he's put himself in the picture for the simple reason that he's able catch the ball and make not just the routine plays, but some difficult plays as well," Gibbons said.

Thu Aug 22 201309:06Blue Jays recall Ryan Goins from AAA level
Blue Jays recalled INF Ryan Goins from Triple-A Buffalo.
Goins will provide depth on the Toronto infield while Maicer Izturis recovers from an ankle sprain. Goins was batting just .257/.311/.369 in 111 games this year at Triple-A and is not going to hold any fantasy value.

Thu Mar 14 201317:10Blue Jays make series of cuts
Blue Jays optioned INF Ryan Goins to Triple-A Buffalo; reassigned RHPs Chad Beck, Tyson Brummett, and Mickey Storey and C/INF Sean Ochinko to minor league camp.
No deal surprises here, though Beck, Brummett and Storey all pitched in the majors last season. Goins, 25, batted .289/.342/.403 with seven home runs, 61 RBI, 15 stolen bases and a .745 OPS in Double-A last year and will provide middle infield depth in the minors.
