Mon May 7 201209:37Bourjos losing significant playing time
Peter Bourjos started in the outfield just once during the Angels' recent seven-game homestand.
Bourjos has only five total at-bats since Mike Trout was promoted from the minor leagues. "We didn't use Peter as much as we want," explained Halos manager Mike Scioscia on Sunday. "He's got to play to contribute. And he will." The 25-year-old speedster is batting just .180/.255/.280 in 20 games this year.

Thu May 3 201217:57Bourjos sitting Thursday vs. Blue Jays
Peter Bourjos is not in the starting lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays.
Bourjos went 1-for-2 with an RBI double and a walk Wednesday night in his first start since Saturday, but he's right back on the bench again. Mike Trout will make the start in center field while Vernon Wells plays left. Bourjos is already struggling, so it's tough to rely on him in mixed leagues if he continues to see limited playing time.

Wed May 2 201216:35Angels not thinking of demoting Bourjos
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said that the club has given "no thought" to sending Peter Bourjos to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Bourjos hasn't started since Saturday due to the presence of Mike Trout and is batting just .167 with a 14/1 K/BB ratio over 48 at-bats this season. A demotion doesn't appear imminent, as Scioscia insists that the speedy outfielder "still has a huge role on this team," but sporadic playing time won't make it any easier for Bourjos to get out of his slump.

Mon Apr 30 201218:19Bourjos not in Monday's lineup
Peter Bourjos is not in Monday's lineup against the Twins.
Back-to-back days off for the struggling Bourjos, as Mike Trout will make another start in center field Monday. We wouldn't give up on Bourjos in deeper mixed leagues, but fantasy owners will have to watch the lineup card carefully in the coming days.

Sun Apr 29 201210:23Bourjos not in Sunday's lineup
Peter Bourjos is not in Sunday's lineup against the Indians.
Mike Trout is starting in center field and hitting leadoff. Trout will play regularly, so Bourjos could start to lose some playing time going forward as the Angels attempt to mix all of their outfielders into the lineup.

Fri Apr 27 201214:53Bourjos not in Friday's lineup
Peter Bourjos is not in Friday's lineup against the Indians.
The Angels are trying to work Mark Trumbo into the lineup as much as possible, so Bourjos will continue to sit on occasion until he starts hitting. The 25-year-old is hitting just .178 with 12 strikeouts over his first 45 at-bats this season. Trumbo will make the start in left field Friday while Vernon Wells slides into center.

Wed Apr 11 201223:07Bourjos rips inside-the-park HR in loss
Peter Bourjos legged out a three-run, inside-the-park home run in Wednesday's loss to the Twins.
Bourjos made it home in 14 seconds after Josh Willingham misplayed a fifth-inning laser off the wall in deep left-center. It was his first "bomb" of the season, and 19th of his career. Bourjos' slow start (.214/.214/.429) isn't yet a concern, but he'd be well served not to struggle into the summer with Mike Trout biding his time at Triple-A Salt Lake.

Mon Feb 27 201213:56Bourjos likely for hip surgery after season
Peter Bourjos acknowledged Monday that he's likely to require right hip surgery after the 2012 season.
The speedy center fielder told reporters that his hip currently feels "good, normal, 100 percent," but recent tests revealed some fraying of his labrum. "As long as I keep it strong and loose, it should be all right," said Bourjos. "Once I get going, it's fine. It's usually after games that it's sore. That's why I soak in an ice bath."

Sun Dec 11 201118:09Angels to keep Bourjos, possibly Abreu, too
Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto said the team won't trade Peter Bourjos and wants to keep Bobby Abreu.
"Peter Bourjos is a guy we're going to hold," Dipoto said. "He's one of the better defenders in the league, a 0-to-3 (in years of service time). He's a good player who fits in very well on a good team, makes our pitching staff better. We're not that motivated to move him right now." As for Abreu, who appeared expandable after the club reeled in Albert Pujols, Dipoto said: "He can still fit. There's value in Bobby. Bobby brings a veteran left-handed bat. His on-base skills have never gone away. The way our lineup looks today, I don't want to say he fits better, but he projects better than maybe he did four days ago. He can hit 2 or 3 at the top, can hit in back of Albert."

Peter Bourjos went 3-for-6 and hit his seventh homer Saturday as the Angels edged the Orioles 9-8 in 12 innings.
The Angels fell behind 8-6 in the top of the 12th, only to come back and win it on a Bobby Abreu sac fly. Bourjos has four homers in August after hitting three during the first four months. He has two homers, a double and three singles the last two days.

Sat Aug 20 201101:50Peter Bourjos homers, doubles in win
Peter Bourjos went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and a steal Friday versus the Orioles.
Bourjos is up to .301 with three homers, six steals and 18 runs scored in 83 at-bats since the All-Star break. It's safe to say he won't be do much sitting to create at-bats for Mike Trout.

Tue Jul 26 201117:57Report: Nationals interested in Peter Bourjos
Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports that the Nationals have expressed interest in Peter Bourjos.
Bourjos, 24, is just the latest name to surface in the Nats' never-ending search for a center fielder. However, it would be surprising if the Angels gave up on someone who projects to be under team control though 2016. According to Ladson, the Nationals are also scouting Denard Span, Colby Rasmus, B.J. Upton and Michael Bourn.

Fri Jul 22 201122:28Angels activate OF Bourjos from DL
Angels activated OF Peter Bourjos from the 15-day disabled list.
Bourjos went through a full workout Friday and is expected to return to the Angels' starting lineup for Saturday's game. The speedy center fielder was batting .272/.323/.397 with three homers, 17 RBI and 11 stolen bases prior to injuring his right hamstring on July 7.

Fri Jul 22 201117:40Bourjos (hammy) to return from DL Saturday
Peter Bourjos (hamstring) went through a full workout Friday and is expected to return from the disabled list on Saturday.
Bourjos ran the bases at full speed and had no issues with his hamstring. He is expected to start in center field Saturday. Interestingly, Angels manager Mike Scioscia said there is a "probability of some overlap" with Mike Trout staying on the active roster a little while longer.

Tue Jul 19 201120:42Peter Bourjos likely to be activated Saturday
Peter Bourjos (hamstring) is running at just 60 percent but is expected to be activated from the disabled list Saturday.
60 percent doesn't sound like a guy that's nearly ready, especially for someone that relies so much on his speed. But, until we hear differently, it appears Bourjos will be back on the roster this weekend. He's been out since July 7 with a strained right hamstring.

Fri Jul 15 201119:53Bourjos suffers setback, disabled list looms
Peter Bourjos is likely headed to the disabled list after his ailing hamstring "tightened up" near the end of a workout on Thursday.
A bad break for Bourjos owners, but a brilliant one for those who scooped upon Mike Trout upon his stunning recall last Friday. Any placement of Bourjos on the disabled list would be made retroactive to July 8, though for someone who relies on his legs for his value, it doesn't seem terribly likely that Bourjos would be activated when first eligible on July 23. Trout will continue to start in his place.

Thu Jul 14 201119:40Bourjos (hammy) aiming to return this weekend
Peter Bourjos (hamstring) is aiming to return to the Angels' lineup at some point this weekend.
Bourjos suffered a hamstring strain a few days before the All-Star break and spent the past week rehabbing in Arizona. He was able to shag fly balls and take batting practice Thursday at an optional team workout and told reporters that the injury is "feeling much better."

Fri Jul 8 201119:54Scioscia says Peter Bourjos is still his CF
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Peter Bourjos is his starting center fielder once his hamstring heals.
It sure seems like Mike Trout's first stint in the big leagues will be a short one. Though he won't play this weekend, the Angels haven't placed Bourjos on the DL yet, suggesting he could be back for the start of the second half or shortly after. Trout could come out on fire and change the Angels' way of thinking, but it looks like it might just be a three-game audition for one of the game's best prospects.
