Bourjos will start in center field and lead off Wednesday against the Cubs.

Jon Jay will sit against left-hander Jon Lester, affording Bourjos his fourth start of the year in center and his second start atop the order. Bourjos has posted a reverse platoon split to this point in his career, with a .253/.314/.391 batting line against right-handed pitching and a .240/.288/.384 mark against lefties. He hit just .194/.252/.330 against southpaws last season.

Bourjos went 2-for-4 Saturday with a double and a run scored.

He's started to see semi-regular at-bats over the last week, hitting .400 (6-for-15) since coming off the paternity list last Friday. If he can remain effective at the plate Bourjos may carve out a time share in center field with Jon Jay, giving him more opportunities to steal the bases which fuel his fantasy value.

After the birth of his child Bourjos will once again be a depth option for the Cardinals. He will almost certainly come off the bench Friday as Jon Jay has had great success against Matt Garza in his career.

He's still looking for his first hit of the season, but fantasy owners who picked Bourjos up for his speed have to be happy with his three steals so far. Holliday is expected to be in the lineup on Sunday, so Bourjos will likely head back to the bench.

General manager John Mozeliak commented that Jon Jay is "likely going to be our starting center fielder" but that if Bourjos is healthy and productive this spring he could force a competition with Jay. While it's unlikely that Jay loses the job, it's still something to watch moving forward.

Although he is known more for his glove than his bat, he showed promise in 2013 with the Angels after finishing with a .274/.333/.377 batting line in 55 games, but saw a decline in 2014. He will likely serve as a reserve outfielder behind Matt Holliday, Jon Jay and Jason Heyward in 2015.

Peter Bourjos blasted a two-run homer off Clayton Kershaw on Sunday, but it wasn't enough to lead the Cardinals to victory.

Bourjos finished the evening 2-for-4 and also stole a pair of bases. His blast off Kershaw tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth inning. The two-hit attack raises Bourjos' line on the season to .230/.292/.360 to go along with three homers and 13 RBI.
