Norris went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's victory over the Dodgers.
Norris got off to a bit of a slow start, but he has picked up the pace of late, picking up 12 hits and seven RBI over his last seven games. Norris will continue seeing most of the action behind the plate for the Padres.
Thu Apr 23 201512:15Norris out of lineup Thursday
Norris is out of the lineup Thursday, Padres' radio announcer Bob Scanlan reports.
It's been a fantastic start to the season for Norris, who is slashing .317/.339/.450 with eight doubles in 60 at-bats. Considering his .373 BABIP and how brutal he was in the second half last year, it's reasonable to expect those numbers to trail off. There's also reason to be slightly concerned about the lack of homers, but some of those doubles should start going over the fence when the weather heats up, especially on the road.
Wed Apr 22 201517:11Norris will bat sixth Wednesday against Rockies
Norris will bat sixth Wednesday against the Rockies.
Norris has hit primarily in the two-hole to this point (36-of-56 at-bats), but after his third straight multi-hit effort Tuesday, manager Bud Black has decided to move him to a key RBI producing spot. Yangervis Solarte will slot in behind leadoff man Wil Myers on Wednesday, though it's uncertain whether this move for Norris is permanent or temporary.

Norris went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI Tuesday in a 7-6 win over the Giants. His eighth inning two-run double put the Padres ahead for good in this one.
Norris has yet to hit s home run on the season, but he is hitting .321 and batting in the second spot in the lineup should give him plenty of opportunity to score runs this year. Start him with confidence.

Norris went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three runs, and an RBI in Monday's 14-3 win over the Rockies.
The Padres' top three hitters (Wil Myers, Norris, and Matt Kemp) combined for eight hits, nine runs, and six RBI on the evening, ruining the season debut of Rockies hurler Jorge De La Rosa. Norris seems to have found a home in the two-hole, and with the likes of Myers, Kemp, and Justin Upton all hitting the ball well right now, the counting stats should continue to roll in.
Sat Apr 18 201511:19Norris not in lineup for Saturday's game against Cubs
Norris is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs, Padres announcer Bob Scanlan reports.
Chalk it up to a catcher's day off, with Norris sitting against Kyle Hendricks and Wil Nieves getting the start. So far this season, Norris has hit .244/.279/.317 with no home runs.
Sun Apr 12 201514:05Norris not in lineup Sunday against Giants

Norris was 2-for-4 with a double and a strikeout batting from the second spot in the lineup Monday against the Dodgers.
Norris took a broken bat off the arm when he was behind the plate in the second, but showed no ill-effects as he doubled in the next inning. He also came around to score on a Matt Kemp double in the fifth. Look for Norris to remain in the second spot in the lineup.

Norris hit his first home run of the spring Wednesday in San Diego's 9-5 loss to Los Angeles.
Norris has bumped his average nearly 80 points over his last two games after starting the spring 2-for-29. He came into Wednesday's game with just three hits, all singles, but was able to get his first multi-hit game of the spring against the Dodgers.

Norris entered Monday's game against the White Sox batting .069 with 13 strikeouts compared to two walks in 29 at-bats.
Norris was brought acquired this offseason to be the Padres' starting catcher, and though it looks like he's in no danger of losing that job, his performance at the dish this spring is concerning. He has an elevated strikeout rate this spring at nearly 45%, but that should come back down to a slightly more palatable number once the season gets underway.
Thu Dec 18 201420:59Derek Norris: Traded To Padres
Norris was traded to the Athletics on Thursday, Mark Feinsand of New York Daily News reports.
The exact terms of Norris' trade are unclear at this point, but he is obviously the biggest piece of the deal. He will now move into a lineup for the Padres that is coming together with the additions of Wil Myers and Matt Kemp. Norris will likely take the starting catching duties for the Padres, with the veteran Ryan Hanigan now being relegated to a backup role.

Norris is not in the lineup for Thursday's AL Wild Card game against the Royals, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The A's will take a calculated risk and Geovany Soto, who hasn't caught Jon Lester before in his career. Despite his inexperience with Lester, Soto did finish with the regular season with seven hits in his final 20 at-bats, whereas Norris hit just .245/.314/.324 after the All-Star break and is 0-for-5 in his career against Royals starter James Shields.
Sun Sep 28 201412:59Norris out of Sunday's lineup at Rangers
Norris is out of Sunday's lineup at the Rangers.
It's the second start in a row for Geovany Soto, who could very well be the starting catcher for the A's going forward into the playoffs. Norris has had an almost decent September, hitting .261/.338/.304 after a disastrous August, but the fact remains he is still a shell of the hitter he was earlier in the year.
Sat Sep 27 201419:32Norris removed from lineup for Saturday's game against Rangers
Norris was removed from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers, according to MLB.com's Jane Lee.
Norris was in the original lineup for the A's, but the Rangers scratched lefty Derek Holland (head) and are now starting righty Scott Baker, so A's manager Bob Melvin switched from a righty-heavy lineup to a lefty-heavy one. Norris was replaced as the DH by Adam Dunn.
Thu Sep 25 201417:02Norris out of lineup Thursday against Rangers
Norris is out of the lineup Thursday against the Rangers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Norris resumed duties behind the plate Wednesday after missing a couple days with shoulder soreness, so it would appear he's just receiving Thursday off to recover. Geovany Soto will serve as the battery mate for starting pitcher Jason Hammel.
Tue Sep 23 201419:22Norris (shoulder) will be available to catch Tuesday
Norris (shoulder) will be available to catch Tuesday, if needed, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Norris will be restricted to DH duty again Tuesday due to a bout of shoulder soreness, but it sounds like he will be an option to step in behind the plate should anything happen to Geovany Soto. If he feels well enough Wednesday, Norris will likely catch the series finale against the Angels.

Norris is dealing with shoulder soreness but is feeling well enough to DH, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Norris was not in the lineup Sunday due to the shoulder issue, but he received a shot and is OK to serve as the DH on Monday. There's no word on whether or not the shoulder issue is something that will affect him in the longer term, but continue to monitor his status over the next few days.

Norris went 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI against the Phillies on Friday night.
The 25-year old catcher has really cooled off after the All-Star break, but overall Norris has had a decent season for the Athletics. Norris didn't meet power expectations, however, although 2014 was his first full MLB season as he neared 400 at-bats.
Tue Sep 16 201415:41Norris (hip) in starting lineup Tuesday
Norris (hip) is in the starting lineup Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Geovany Soto remains sidelined, and the A's other injury issues behind the plate may continue to lead Norris to everyday work as the team's primary catcher despite his lack of health.
Mon Sep 15 201412:11Norris dealing with hip issue
Norris is dealing with a hip issue, and it's starting to affect his play, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The Mariners stole four bases against him and Jon Lester on Sunday, and he's also having trouble blocking balls in the dirt.
Norris has been pressed into nearly everyday duty behind the plate thanks to injuries to John Jaso, Stephen Vogt and now Geovany Soto. Soto has shown improvement recently and could help in the catching duties soon, but the A's will continue to lean heavily on Norris.
