Norris went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's victory over the Dodgers.

Norris got off to a bit of a slow start, but he has picked up the pace of late, picking up 12 hits and seven RBI over his last seven games. Norris will continue seeing most of the action behind the plate for the Padres.

It's been a fantastic start to the season for Norris, who is slashing .317/.339/.450 with eight doubles in 60 at-bats. Considering his .373 BABIP and how brutal he was in the second half last year, it's reasonable to expect those numbers to trail off. There's also reason to be slightly concerned about the lack of homers, but some of those doubles should start going over the fence when the weather heats up, especially on the road.

Norris will bat sixth Wednesday against the Rockies.

Norris has hit primarily in the two-hole to this point (36-of-56 at-bats), but after his third straight multi-hit effort Tuesday, manager Bud Black has decided to move him to a key RBI producing spot. Norris has yet to hit s home run on the season, but he is hitting .321 and batting in the second spot in the lineup should give him plenty of opportunity to score runs this year. Start him with confidence.

The Padres' top three hitters (Wil Myers, Norris, and Matt Kemp) combined for eight hits, nine runs, and six RBI on the evening, ruining the season debut of Rockies hurler Jorge De La Rosa. Norris seems to have found a home in the two-hole, and with the likes of Myers, Kemp, and Justin Upton all hitting the ball well right now, the counting stats should continue to roll in.

Norris took a broken bat off the arm when he was behind the plate in the second, but showed no ill-effects as he doubled in the next inning. He also came around to score on a Matt Kemp double in the fifth. Look for Norris to remain in the second spot in the lineup.

Norris hit his first home run of the spring Wednesday in San Diego's 9-5 loss to Los Angeles.

Norris has bumped his average nearly 80 points over his last two games after starting the spring 2-for-29. He came into Wednesday's game with just three hits, all singles, but was able to get his first multi-hit game of the spring against the Dodgers.

Norris entered Monday's game against the White Sox batting .069 with 13 strikeouts compared to two walks in 29 at-bats.

Norris was brought acquired this offseason to be the Padres' starting catcher, and though it looks like he's in no danger of losing that job, his performance at the dish this spring is concerning. He has an elevated strikeout rate this spring at nearly 45%, but that should come back down to a slightly more palatable number once the season gets underway.

Norris was traded to the Athletics on Thursday, Mark Feinsand of New York Daily News reports.

The exact terms of Norris' trade are unclear at this point, but he is obviously the biggest piece of the deal. He will now move into a lineup for the Padres that is coming together with the additions of Wil Myers and Matt Kemp. Norris will likely take the starting catching duties for the Padres, with the veteran Ryan Hanigan now being relegated to a backup role.

The A's will take a calculated risk and Geovany Soto, who hasn't caught Jon Lester before in his career. Despite his inexperience with Lester, Soto did finish with the regular season with seven hits in his final 20 at-bats, whereas Norris hit just .245/.314/.324 after the All-Star break and is 0-for-5 in his career against Royals starter James Shields.

Norris is out of Sunday's lineup at the Rangers.

It's the second start in a row for Geovany Soto, who could very well be the starting catcher for the A's going forward into the playoffs. Norris has had an almost decent September, hitting .261/.338/.304 after a disastrous August, but the fact remains he is still a shell of the hitter he was earlier in the year.

Norris has been pressed into nearly everyday duty behind the plate thanks to injuries to John Jaso, Stephen Vogt and now Geovany Soto. Soto has shown improvement recently and could help in the catching duties soon, but the A's will continue to lean heavily on Norris.
