LHP Edwin Escobar will start Monday afternoon for the Diamondbacks to begin a four-game, home-and-home interleague series against the Astros. Escobar, who was claimed off waivers on April 29 from the Boston Red Sox, will replace RHP Rubby De La Rosa, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday with right elbow inflammation. A roster move will be announced either after Sunday's game or on Monday to make room for Escobar.

Escobar is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Indians.

The 28-year-old is sitting, along with most of the team's other regulars, after the team secured its first division title since 1985 with a win Thursday. Escobar missed two starts last weekend with an elbow injury, but has collected five hits in three games since returning to action, more than he had in his previous eight games combined.

Escobar (elbow) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

X-rays were negative after Escobar was hit by a pitch and forced to leave Friday's game, and it seems the swelling has now diminished enough to where he can resume his duties as the Royals' starting shortstop. Escobar is hitting just .183/.194/.217 in September, his second straight month with a sub-.500 OPS.

Escobar's elbow still must be hurting from his hit-by-pitch on Friday, but it's only a bruise so his return should come someday soon. Christian Colon will once again fill in at shortstop.

Escobar exited Friday's game early with a elbow bruise and is being labeled as day-to-day after X-rays showed no broken bones. The Royals will use Christian Colon at shortstop Saturday, but Escobar is expected to be ready to return to the field in the near future.

Escobar was forced to leave Friday night's game early with an elbow bruise, but x-rays came back negative for any further damage, Andy McCullough of The Kansas City Star reports.

Escobar took a rough-looking pitch to the elbow in the 10th inning, but did later stay in to run the bases. He was then replaced by Christian Colon at shortstop in the bottom of the 10th. There's a chance he misses time over the weekend, but no injury beyond bruising likely makes this a minor, day-to-day issue.

Escobar is not in the lineup Thursday, Matthew DeFranks of Sports Radio 810 reports.

Escobar will get a rare day off, as the Royals insert September call-up Christian Colon into the lineup at shortstop. Colon will bat ninth in the order.
