The flap pushed into his nose from the force of the pitch, but prevented the ball from hitting his jaw or orbital socket, he said. Broxton laid sprawled in the right-handed batters box for a few moments, then was helped to his feet and off the field by a member of the Brewers' training staff. He appeared to suffer a bloody nose and was able to walk off the field with a towel held to his face. Broxton might have been saved by the elongated flap attached to his helmet. In Sept. 2016, Broxton suffered a broken right wrist in the third inning of a game at Wrigley Field. He crashed into the brick, ivy-covered wall to make a catch. Broxton, 26, had a strong spring for the Brewers.
