CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox placed shortstop Tim Anderson the 10-day injured list with a right high ankle sprain and designated first baseman/designated hitter Yonder Alonso for assignment before Friday night's game against the Minnesota Twins.Chicago also recalled outfielder Daniel Palka and purchased the contract of left-hander Ross Detwiler from Triple-A Charlotte. Detwiler was slotted to start against the Twins.Anderson, who is hitting .317 with 11 homers and 37 RBIs in a breakout season, was injured fielding a grounder in a 6-3 loss Tuesday at Boston. CHICAGO (AP) — It was a very special Father's Day for Zack Collins.Collins didn't know what was happening when he was pulled from Triple-A Charlotte's game at Rochester on Sunday, but he got back to the clubhouse and manager Mark Grudzielanek told the catching prospect he was headed to the majors with the Chicago White Sox. Collins then called his dad Pat."He was crazy and crying and jumping up and down," Zack Collins said. "It was a pretty special moment. I honestly was just in shock. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what to say. I was just extremely happy and gave my manager a hug."The 24-year-old Collins was added to the roster before Tuesday's 3-1 victory over the crosstown Cubs. CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox have brought up catching prospect Zack Collins from Triple-A Charlotte and placed Welington Castillo on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique.The White Sox also reinstated Jace Fry from the IL before Tuesday night's game against the crosstown Cubs. The reliever had been sidelined by left shoulder soreness.The 24-year-old Collins was selected by Chicago with the 10th pick in the 2016 amateur draft out of the University of Miami. He hit .250 with nine homers and 39 RBIs for Charlotte.Collins also can play first base and is highly regarded for his discipline at the plate. He ranked among the International League leaders with 36 walks in 50 games with the Knights.The White Sox optioned reliever Thyago Vieira to Charlotte on Sunday to make room for Fry, who is 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA in 28 appearances this year.The 32-year-old Castillo departed in the fourth inning of Sunday's 10-3 loss to the Yankees. CHICAGO (AP) — Carlos Rodón and Nate Jones will miss the rest of the season with arm injuries, leaving the rebuilding Chicago White Sox without two key pitchers.Rodón is scheduled for Tommy John surgery to replace the ligament in his left elbow Wednesday in Los Angeles. The left-hander started on opening day and made six more appearances before he was placed on the injured list on May 2 with elbow inflammation."Given that he has yet to undergo the surgery, it's still too early to give you a precise timeline in terms of his potential return," general manager Rick Hahn said. "However in general given the timing of the surgery it is reasonable to expect Carlos to be able to rejoin us during the second half of the 2020 season."Rodón was selected by Chicago with the No. 3 pick in the 2014 amateur draft.
