Pachulia is the consolation prize for the Mavericks after missing out on DeAndre Jordan previously this week. He's no where near the talent of Jordan, but he's about the best the Mavericks could get at this point. Pachulia started 45 of 73 games for the Bucks last season, finishing with averages 8.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals over 24 minutes per game. He'll slide into a starting role and should see the majority of the center minutes in the Mavericks' rotation. He has one more year left on his contract, so he'll be an unrestricted free agent following the 2015-16 season.

For the second straight season, Pachulia was the beneficiary of trouble surrounding Larry Sanders. The Bucks' one-time franchise center walked away from the game mid-season, leaving Pachulia to take over as the starter. While he's not the ideal center for Jason Kidd's system, he's a better floor-spacer than John Henson and proved once again that he's a deceptively serviceable rebounder and defender. Pachulia closed the regular season on a strong note, averaging 11.2 points and 8.7 rebounds in March and 7.8 points with 7.1 boards in April, but he struggled in the first round of the playoffs. The size of Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson gave Pachulia problems, as he shot just 40 percent for the series and failed to reach double-digits in any of the six games. Henson ended up emerging as the go-to center in the series, leading to the belief that the starting spot may be up for grabs heading into next season. Henson will enter the fourth year of his rookie deal, while Pachulia will move into the final season of the three-year, $15.6 million contract he signed prior to the 2013-14 campaign.

Pachulia could face a suspension for Game 3 against the Bulls.

Pachulia was involved in two separate scuffles with Chicago's Nikola Mirotic on Monday night, the second of which occurred late in the fourth quarter. Pachulia and Mirotic fell to the floor battling for a loose ball, and Pachulia appeared to throw an elbow at Mirotic's head. Both players were hit with technical fouls, and Pachulia was ejected after receiving his first technical earlier in the game. While we've certainly seen more egregious on-court scrums, Pachulia could be slapped with a one-game suspension. As of Tuesday afternoon, the league is yet to comment on the matter.

Pachulia was ejected in the fourth quarter of Game 2 Monday against the Bulls after receiving his second technical foul. He finished with seven points (3-8 FG, 1-2 FT) to go along with six rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks.

This was a physical game and Pachulia often found himself in the heart of the fray. Expect him to be back in his normal starting role for Game 3 Thursday.
