Thu Aug 13 201511:51Carter-Williams has spent offseason working on outside shot
Carter-Williams has spent the offseason working on his outside shot, Jamieson Welsh of Believe the Hype reports.
This should come as no surprise. Over his two-year career, the point guard claims a 40-percent field-goal mark and 25 percent accuracy from behind the three-point line. His free-throw shooting vastly improved once he became a Buck, leaping from 68 percent in 111 games with the Sixers to 78 percent post-trade-deadline. Carter-Williams' development heading into his sophomore season was stymied by right shoulder surgery and attempting 3.0 three-pointers per game. With a full offseason to develop his touch, he may not convert a league-worst 29 percent of his mid-range jumpers this season. Based on the video, it appears Carter-Williams' simplified shooting motion is much more fluid and repetitious. Under coach Kidd, Carter-Williams barely attempted one three-pointer per game, instead focusing on posting up and converting in the paint. One offseason won't fix his weakness, but it should provide a solid foundation for Carter-Williams' career and improve his stock in rotisserie leagues.
Tue May 5 201517:27Carter-Williams split season between Philadelphia and Milwaukee,...
Carter-Williams split the season between Philadelphia and Milwaukee, appearing in 76 total games. In 25 games for the Bucks, Carter-Williams averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 42.9 percent from the field.
Despite the trade to a better team, Carter-Williams' per-game numbers took a slight dip after he arrived in Milwaukee. That was due in part to a slight reduction in minutes nearly four fewer per game as well as a slower-paced system and more reliable supporting cast. While his counting stats took a hit, Carter-Williams posted the best field goal percentage of his career with the Bucks and recorded a 16.3 PER, up from 12.8 in 41 games with the Sixers. A frequent target for criticism, Carter-Williams must improve his outside shooting after making only 4-of-28 attempts as a member of the Bucks. With another poor three-point shooter, Giannis Antetokounmpo, poised to play a major role for the team going forward, Milwaukee, for spacing reasons, simply can't afford to have three non-shooters in the starting lineup. Entering the third year of his rookie contract, Carter-Williams is the favorite to open next season as the starting point guard.

Carter-Williams only played 18 minutes in a blowout Game 6 loss to the Bulls, and had just three points (1-6 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and one assist.
This was a terrible game for everyone on the Bucks' roster, but Carter-Williams really dropped off Thursday. In the five other games in the series, he had three games with 12 or more points and had nine assists twice.

Carter-Williams downplayed the ankle injury he suffered in Game 5 against the Bulls on Monday, CF Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Carter-Williams rolled his ankle in Game 5 and briefly left the game to go back to the locker room. He was able to return a few minutes later and went on to have his best game of the playoffs, scoring 22 points to go with nine assists and eight rebounds in 38 minutes. Carter-Williams admitted that the ankle is "a little bit tight," but he told Gardner that he'll be "good to go" Thursday evening.
