Morgan's start Saturday against the Nationals has been rained out, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.

It appears that as a result of the rainout, Morgan's start may be skipped altogether. The Phillies will send Kevin Correia to the mound for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader, while Severino Gonzalez will toe the rubber for Game 2. The rotation adjustments will likely be announced in the coming days, which should provide an update on when Morgan's next start will come.

The Phillies had the option to skip Morgan with an off day on Thursday, but they'll keep their rotation in order instead. It might be Morgan's last start with the Phillies for the time being as Chad Billingsley could be back from the disabled list in early July.

Morgan made his MLB debut count Sunday, picking up the win by pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one run on six hits and two walks, striking out six.

Morgan did give up three extra-base hits including a solo home run to Jhonny Peralta. The Phillies provided plenty of offense, though, scoring nine runs in the game. Morgan wasn't overly impressive during his time in the minors this season but may have earned another couple starts with Jerome Williams now on the disabled list.

Morgan has been officially recalled to start Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Jerome Williams (hamstring) was placed on the disabled list, and Cole Hamels (hamstring) has been scratched from Friday's start. The 25-year-old Morgan isn't much of a prospect and has struggled at the Triple-A level the past two seasons, but the Phillies are running low on arms.

The Phillies could also turn to Severino Gonzalez to fill Williams' spot.

Morgan was optioned to minor league camp Monday.

It's not reasonable to think that he might be one of the first starters called up this season if the Phillies need help in the rotation. Health was an issue for Morgan last season, and his stuff has been more crisp throughout the spring.
