Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said that there are mechanical issues in Jackson's swing that need to be cleaned up this spring, the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Previously, McClendon worked with Jackson in Detroit. Jackson said that he struggled to make the adjustments of longer travel after being traded to Seattle last summer. He'll look to make the necessary adjustments to his swing during spring training in anticipation of serving as the Mariners' starting center fielder in his first full season with the club.

Jackson agreed to a one-year, $7.7 million contract with the Mariners on Monday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.

Jackson posted another solid season split between the Tigers and Mariners, but saw his numbers drop off with after being traded to Seattle. In 54 games with his new club, he finished with a .229/.267/.260 batting line without a home run and just 14 RBI over 223 at-bats. He will enter 2015 as the everyday center fielder for the Mariners.

Jackson went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases in the Mariners' loss to the A's on Sunday. Since joining the Mariners at the trade deadline, Jackson has hit poorly, with a .244/.278/.386 line in 168 at-bats.

The Mariners were able to run wild against A's starter Jon Lester and catcher Derek Norris, stealing four bases in four attempts, but weren't able to translate that into any runs scored. One positive note about Jackson - since the trade, he has nine stolen bases already, after having nine with the Tigers in 100 games.

Jackson was 1-for-4 with a walk and two RBI in Seattle's win over Boston on Friday night.

The Mariners loaded the bases with two outs in ninth, trailing 3-0, and Jackson lined a double off of the Green Monster to ignite a rally that would culminate in five runs and a Seattle victory. Now in the midst of a playoff run, this is the type of performance that can fire up both a player and all of his teammates.

Jackson had three hits and four RBI on Sunday in a win against the White Sox in his best game as a Mariner since being traded July 31.

Jackson has started slowly for the Mariners since arriving from the Tigers. He entered Sunday's game with seven hits -- none for extra bases -- in 32 at-bats (.219) and three walks to 10 strikeouts. On Sunday, he ripped a bases-loaded double and also had a run-scoring single. He'll continue to play everyday in center field, where he is easily the team's best defensive outfielder.

Jackson will lead off for the Mariners on Friday in his debut with the team, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Jackson was added to the roster yesterday as part of three team trade that also sent David Price to the Tigers. He will likely be the everyday leadoff hitter for the Mariners going forward, and should settle in to center field in place of James Jones.

Jackson is expected to join the Mariners in time for Friday's series opener against the Orioles.

The Mariners' outfield received a much-needed makeover Thursday, as the team acquired not only Jackson but Chris Denorfia as well. Jackson will undoubtedly serve as the starter in center field moving forward and likely the leadoff hitter as well.

Jackson was traded to the Mariners on Thursday in a three-team deal with the Tigers and Rays, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Jackson was 2-for-4 with an RBI against the White Sox on Thursday before he was removed following the news of the trade. He'll immediately slot in as the everyday center fielder and likely leadoff man for the Mariners after James Jones' early-season hot streak at the plate tailed off considerably in July. For their part, the Mariners sent infielder Nick Franklin to the Rays.

Austin Jackson went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Tigers dropped the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Indians.

Jackson got the Tigers on the board with an RBI single in the fifth inning, but they failed to generate much offense against Corey Kluber the remainder of the ballgame. He's hitting .322 (19-for-59) since moving to the leadoff spot in the Tigers lineup on July 1.

Austin Jackson went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, leading the Tigers to a 2-1 victory over the Royals in Kansas City on Friday.

Jackson got the Tigers offense started quickly, leading the game off with a double and quickly coming around to score on an RBI single by Ian Kinsler. He appears to be much more comfortable at the plate since moving back to his customary leadoff spot in the order. With the three-hit attack, he's now hitting .251/.314/.368 with three homers and 24 RBI on the season.

Austin Jackson doubled, tripled and scored a pair of runs in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.

Batting from the leadoff spot for the eighth time in the last 10 games, Jackson tripled and scored in the first before doubling and scoring in the eighth. The move up to the leadoff spot would obviously be nice for his fantasy value, but he's likely to move back down in the order when Victor Martinez (side) returns.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus clarified Saturday that Austin Jackson has no injury to report, he's just resting for Saturday's contest against the Astros.

Jackson was in the team's initial lineup, but scratched from the revised version, leading some to speculate that there may be an injury afoot. With as hot as J.D. Martinez has been, the Tigers other outfielders have had to give up some at-bats in order to keep Martinez in the lineup on a daily basis.

Austin Jackson was a late scratch from Saturday's lineup against the Astros.

No word yet on the reasoning behind the change, but Jackson was in the team's initial lineup. Rajai Davis will start in center field in his absence.

Austin Jackson swatted a two-run homer on Friday, helping to lead the Tigers to a 7-2 victory over the Rangers.

The victory snaps a season-high four game losing streak for the Tigers. Jackson's two-run blast came off Scott Baker in the second inning, tying the game at 2-2. He finished the night 2-for-4, raising his season slash to .260/.331/.420 to go along with three homers and 15 RBI.

Austin Jackson had a nice night at the plate in Friday's loss to the Twins, going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Jackson also swiped his fifth base of the season in the contest. He's off to a terrific start with the bat, slashing .305/.379/.476 with a pair of homers and 10 RBI.

Austin Jackson is not in the Tigers' lineup Wednesday.

It appears to just be a day of rest for the outfielder. Don Kelly is taking Jackson's spot in center field.

The 27-year-old outfielder has taken very well to hitting fifth in the Tigers lineup this season, hitting .314/.381/.543 with two homers, nine RBI and a pair of stolen bases in his first 20 games.

Austin Jackson is not in Tuesday's lineup against the White Sox.

He's presumably getting the day off. Rajai Davis will make the start in center field and bat leadoff while the recently-recalled J.D. Martinez will start in left.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus announced his starting lineup for Monday's opener against the Royals, with Austin Jackson occupying the fifth spot in the order.

The speedy outfielder demolished the baseball in Grapefruit League play, slashing .429/.458/.696 with a pair of homers and 14 RBI. He's been the Tigers primary leadoff hitter during his four years with the team, but should see more RBI chances in his new role. The rest of the Tigers lineup behind Justin Verlander on Monday looks like: Ian Kinsler 2B, Torii Hunter RF, Miguel Cabrera 1B, Victor Martinez DH, Austin Jackson CF, Alex Avila C, Nick Castellanos 3B, Alex Gonzalez SS and Rajai Davis LF.

Austin Jackson went 3-for-3 with a triple on Thursday to raise his spring average to .520.

Jackson keeps hitting even when the rest of the Tigers don't; everyone else combined to go 4-for-30 today. Jackson, who has been hitting fifth and sixth, is 13-for-25 in nine games this spring. Since the switch is "working," it doesn't seem likely that Brad Ausmus will be tempted to put him back into the leadoff spot before Opening Day.
