Mon Mar 3 2014 | 16:56 | Austin Jackson knocks in three for Tigers |
Austin Jackson went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI in the Tigers' 8-5 win over the Cardinals on Monday. |
A World Series preview? Jackson is tearing it up so far this spring, having started off 7-for-11. Unfortunately, he's been doing it as a No. 5 and No. 6 hitter in the Detroit lineup. He might be stuck batting behind a couple of slow-pokes in Victor Martinez and Alex Avila against right-handers, which wouldn't be much of a boon for his RBI numbers. And, of course, he'll lose a ton of runs scored. |

Thu Feb 27 2014 | 16:48 | Austin Jackson goes 2-for-3 in victory |
Austin Jackson went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the Tigers' 5-2 defeat of the Braves on Thursday. |
Jackson hit fifth yesterday and sixth today, even though likely leadoff hitter Ian Kinsler was out of the lineup. It seems Brad Ausmus views him as more of a middle-of-the-order guy, which could do a number on his fantasy value. If there's one positive, it's that he might be more comfortable stealing bases hitting ahead of Andy Dirks and Alex Avila than he was with Miguel Cabrera due up. |

Austin Jackson went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox. |
Jackson has responded well to the move down to the No. 8 spot in the batting order, reaching base six times over the last two contests. There's a chance Tigers manager Jim Leyland could move him back up to the leadoff spot for Game 6, or he could just wind up sticking with what's worked. |

The first walk came with the bases loaded, bringing in the Tigers' first run of the game. Jackson also drove in a run with an infield single in the fourth inning. The runs batted in were his first of the series, and he also stole his first base of the ALCS in the game. |

His previous career high is 103, which he's done twice. |

Austin Jackson went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and two RBI against the Mariners on Tuesday. |
Amazingly enough, the stolen base was just Jackson's eighth of the season in 12 attempts. His numbers are down across the board from his breakout 2012, but the 26-year-old has still scored 95 runs batting leadoff on a good Tigers offense. A 100-run season this year would be his third in four major league seasons. |

Sun Sep 1 2013 | 10:05 | Austin Jackson not in starting lineup Sunday |
Austin Jackson is not listed in the Tigers starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Indians. |
Jackson suffered an injury scare during Saturday's game when he crashed into the center field wall trying to chase down Carlos Santana's would-be inside the park home run. While he was able to finish the game, that seems the probable cause for his rest on Sunday. Don Kelly will get the start in center field in his place. |

Austin Jackson went 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk and two runs scored versus the Indians on Thursday. |
Jackson hasn't been hitting very well at all for the surging Tigers, but there won't be any taking him out of the leadoff spot. It is disturbing the way he's regressing in the strikeout department. He had a 42/27 K/BB ratio in 49 games over the first three months, but since the beginning of July, he's at 44/9 in 33 games. |
