Mon Jun 23 201411:23Mets deny report that Chris Young will be cut
A Mets official told Mike Puma of the New York Post that the Mets are not considering dumping Chris Young.
That conflicts a report from ESPN New York, who wrote Monday morning that Young might be released this week to clear a roster spot for Juan Lagares, who is set to return from an intercostal injury on Thursday. Young, 30, is batting just .201/.284/.313 in 58 games this season for the Mets. He's making $7.25 million on a one-year contract.

Mon Jun 23 201410:10Mets might dump OF Chris Young this week
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the Mets might cut ties with Chris Young this week.
Juan Lagares (intercostal) is due back from the disabled list Thursday and the Mets need to open up a roster spot. Young, 30, has batted just .201/.284/.313 in 58 games this season and there's been no indication that a sudden turnaround is coming. The Mets would have to eat what remains of his one-year, $7.25 million contract.

Sat May 31 201412:18Chris Young out of Saturday's lineup
Chris Young is out of the Mets lineup Saturday after Friday's 14th-inning drop that led to a loss to the Phillies.
Bobby Abreu is getting another start in the outfield. Young's drop was bad, but it's not like it's typical for him. If he starts sitting more frequently, it will be his bat -- not his glove -- that's the culprit.

Thu May 29 201422:11Slumping Young homers in win over Phillies
Chris Young went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Phillies.
Young had been in the dregs offensively, as his OPS plummeted ever closer to the .500's as the month of May has worn on, so Thursday's homer was a good sign. The fourth inning blast off of David Buchanan was his fourth of the season and leaves him with a .205/.290/.368 slash line.

Sun May 25 201416:25Chris Young goes hitless Sunday
Chris Young went 0-for-3 while grounding into two double plays in Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
He didn't get a fourth at-bat, as Young was pinch-hit for with the game on the line in the eighth inning. The free agent acquisition is now batting .204/.283/.352 for the season and an even uglier .140/.232/.260 over his last 16 games. The Mets' $7.25 million investment obviously isn't paying off so far.

He's 9-for-22 with eight runs scored, six RBI and two stolen bases in that span.

Mon Apr 21 201415:35Young batting cleanup for first time in 2014
Chris Young is playing center and batting clean-up in Monday night's game against the Cardinals.
This will be Young's first game in the clean-up spot this season. The Cardinals are sending left-hander Tyler Lyons to the hill, so manager Terry Collins is putting his lefty masher in position to potentially drive in some runs. Young has a career .837 OPS in his career against southpaws.

Chris Young was hitless in four at-bats against the Braves on Friday in his return from the disabled list.
Young, out since Opening Day with a quad strain, batted fifth in his return. He should be the regular center fielder for New York until Juan Lagares returns from the disabled list, so he could be worth a pickup in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

Fri Apr 18 201419:12Mets activate Chris Young from disabled list
Mets activated OF Chris Young from the 15-day disabled list.
Young is in the Mets lineup on Friday, playing center field and hitting fifth. With Juan Lagares on the DL, he should get a chance to play everyday, and has the ability to contribute nice power and speed numbers in mixed leagues at the expense of batting average.
