Jimenez will start Saturday against the Angels, Rich Dubroff of CSN Baltimore reports.

With Bud Norris unavailable due to illness, Jimenez will move up a day to oppose right-hander Matt Shoemaker. Jimenez will still be on normal rest thanks to Thursday's team off day. Chris Tillman or Mike Wright will likely follow Sunday if Norris is unable to take the hill.

Jimenez fanned nine and walked two while holding the Blue Jays to two runs on six hits over seven innings in a winning effort Monday night against Baltimore.

Through six starts, Jimenez has had three outings where he's failed to go more than five innings, but one was the result of an ejection on a night where he had tossed 3.2 scoreless innings at Fenway Park. Thus far, he's shown significantly improved control, having issued just 12 walks through 33.2 innings while still missing bats a healthy clip (8.55 K/9). Additionally, Jimenez is getting more outs on the ground than ever, boasting a career-high 57.6% ground ball rate after posting a 41.3% mark last season. At age-31, he appears to have made a few significant adjustments to his approach, but his ERA (2.41) is still more than a run below his FIP (3.56) thanks in part to a .229 BABIP (career .291). Even if the FIP is a better indication of what to expect from him going forward, it's a major improvement from last season's 4.81 ERA (4.67 FIP).

Jimenez (2-2) lasted only four innings in Wednesday's loss to the Mets, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out just one.

Ubaldo didn't get a lot of help from his defense in this one, and he probably would have pitched the fifth inning if not for the game taking place in a National League park. We're willing to give Jimenez a pass for this one, considering how strong he's looked to start the year. However, his next start is slated for Monday against the Blue Jays, who touched Ubaldo up for four runs in five innings on April 22.

Jimenez (2-1) held the White Sox to a pair of unearned runs over seven innings in Wednesday's 8-2 victory. He struck out six and walked one.

Ubaldo dazzled the crowd of zero people (well, maybe a scout or two) in Baltimore, bouncing back in impressive fashion from his one poor game so far this year, last week's loss in Toronto. Outside of that game, Jimenez has given up zero earned runs and just four hits with 16 strikeouts over 17.2 innings. It's looking like this is shaping up to be one of the Good Ubaldo seasons.

Jimenez will square off against Jeff Samardzija and the White Sox on Wednesday afternoon, CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Dubroff reports.

The first two games of the series were postponed due to the ongoing riots in Baltimore, so the third game will be played at 2:05 PM ET in front of an empty stadium. Tuesday's pitching matchup between Jimenez and Jeff Samardzija will simply be bumped to Wednesday.

Jimenez will have his start pushed back again, as Tuesday's game against the White Sox has been postponed.

It's unclear when Jimenez will finally take the mound, as the Orioles are still in the process of making plans for the rest of their homestand. It's possible Jimenez could pitch against the White Sox on Wednesday, but owners counting on a two-start week are now just hoping the right-hander gets a single outing in. The Orioles probably won't skip Jimenez, given that there isn't much difference between the top and bottom of their rotation.

Jimenez, who had his scheduled start Monday against the Orioles nullified by a postponement, is now in line to take the ball Tuesday, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.

Assuming Tuesday's game is able to go on as scheduled, the Orioles won't skip Jimenez, who has rolled to a 2.30 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over three starts to begin the season. Instead, it looks like the struggling Bud Norris, who was on track to make a start over the coming weekend against the Rays, could be most at risk of losing out on a turn.

Jimenez will not make his regularly scheduled start Monday as the game against the White Sox has been postponed.

As of now, Tuesday's contest doesn't appear to be in any jeopardy so Jimenez could be in line to get the start then instead. An official announcement from the club should be forthcoming on how they plan to arrange their rotation after the postponement.

Jimenez (1-1) gave up four runs on a pair of two-run homers over five innings Wednesday in a loss against Toronto. He struck out six while allowing six hits and walking three.

Tough one for Ubaldo, who just needed to prevent the ball from leaving the yard to escape trouble. But hey, that'll happen against the Jays. He's still looked very strong so far, and will make for a better start at home Monday against the White Sox.

Jimenez did not allow a hit, walking three, and striking out two over 3.2 scoreless innings against Boston on Friday night.

The always entertaining but often frustrating Jimenez still has not allowed an earned run this season, but despite dominating early on in this start, he was denied any chance for a decision after being ejected for hitting Pablo Sandoval in the fourth inning.

Jimenez tossed seven shutout innings, allowing one hit and walking one with eight strikeouts in Saturday's win over the Blue Jays.

The Jekyl and Hyde of pitchers, Jimenez delivered a very nice outing in his season debut while carrying over momentum from his strong Grapefruit League performance. Jimenez is available in a lot of leagues right now given his inconsistent track record, but he will prove to be a bargain if he keeps up at this pace.

Jimenez will open the 2015 season as the Orioles' fifth starter, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Jimenez will effectively start Saturday's matchup against the Blue Jays, despite the fact that the team could have waited until April 15 to use a fifth starter. The 31-year-old had a 6-9 record through 22 starts for Baltimore last season, posting a solid 8.3 K/9 but a shaky 4.81 ERA. Through seven spring starts, the veteran right-hander allowed 13 earned runs over 26.1 innings. With Jimenez in the starting rotation, Kevin Gausman will be delegated to the bullpen to open the year.

It still appears Jimenez has locked up a spot in the rotation, though manager Buck Showalter did not commit to Jimenez Friday. He was hit on the ankle in Friday's game, but he remained in the game. Jimenez started spring wild but he finished strong. He had a 23::8 strikeout to walk ratio in 26.1 innings in the Grapefruit League.

Jimenez held the Blue Jays to one run on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts in Sunday's Grapefruit League game.

Jimenez remains consistently inconsistent. He started spring training cold but appears to be finishing hot and appears headed for a rotation spot. Jimenez should be slotted in the latter part of the rotation. He has now walked seven in 22.1 innings this spring, including just one in his last two starts combined.

The Orioles invested too much in Jimenez not to use him as a starter and management wants to control the innings count for Kevin Gausman. If Jimenez does not perform, the two could swap their roles. Remember, Jimenez wound up in the bullpen in August last year when he failed to perform before making a couple of starts down the stretch to rest playoff starters. On the plus side, Jimenez is hot off five shutout innings in his last Grapefruit League appearance.

Jimenez threw five shutout innings, allowed four hits with three strikeouts and no walks Tuesday against the Pirates.

Jimenez had been erratic this spring prior to Tuesday's outing and his overall spring line does not look good even after this performance. Overall, he has allowed 12 runs - 11 earned - on 18 hits with six walks and 15 strikeouts in 16.1 innings. However, he has gotten better as spring has progressed. There is no doubt after the first year the Orioles got a bad contract with Jimenez. Despite that, he has gotten a harder look than Kevin Gausman this spring. It seems Jimenez is the favorite to grab the last rotation spot.

Jimenez allowed one run on two hits, walked three and struck out five in two-plus innings Sunday against the Twins. His fastball topped out at 92 mph, according to MASN Sports.

Jimenez was better than his disastrous first start, but it appears his wildness has not been cured by an adjustment in his delivery. It remains a three man race for two rotation spots, with Jimenez probably on the outside looking in at this point.

Jimenez was wild in his first outing of the spring, allowing six runs - five earned - on two hits with two walks, two hit batters and a wild pitch Tuesday against the Tigers. "I thought stuff-wise he was pretty good," Showalter told MASN Sports. "In fact, he was probably ahead of where he was last year stuff-wise at this stage. I know what it looks like statistically ."

Showalter likely does not want to damage Jimenez's psyche after one spring start, but Jimenez certainly did himself no favors in attempting to win one of the last two spots in the rotation. Jimenez struggled with his rotation in 2014, with 77 walks in 125.1 innings, while his fastball dipped to 90.53 mph. He was in the low-90s in Tuesday's outing.

Jimenez will start the first game of Baltimore's spring training season Tuesday, according to Britt Ghiroli of MLB.com.

The Orioles likely want to take a long look at Jimenez, Miguel Gonzalez and Kevin Gausman as the three players battle for two spots in the rotation. Jimenez figures to land with the team in some capacity, even if it is the bullpen since Gausman and Gonzalez have minor league options. Jimenez was effectively benched in September before making a couple of late starts when the division lead was well in hand. He made an adjustment in his delivery that the team seemed pleased with, but he was still left off the roster. When it rains, it pours with Jimenez. His control remains the key. Jimenez could have a 3.94 BB/IP like 2013 with Cleveland or a 5.53 BB/9 like last year with the Orioles.

Inconsistency lead to the Orioles yanking Jimenez from the rotation in August. Jimenez went on to appear in just three games in September before being left off the postseason roster. It is possible Jimenez can turn it around, but there is always a word of caution when players make adjustments or gain/lose weight. Jimenez had seven walks in 11 innings in September, a sign that his change in mechanics did not produce fruitful results.
