Ubaldo Jimenez (ankle) is scheduled to begin his minor league rehab assignment with Class-A Aberdeen on Tuesday.

The big right-hander tossed two innings in a simulated game on Friday without any issues. If all goes well on Tuesday, he'll progress to a second minor league rehab start with a higher level affiliate. Before hitting the disabled list on July 11, he posted a troublesome 4.52 ERA and 1.54 WHIP over his first 18 starts.

The throwing session was supposed to be the last step before a rehab assignment for Jimenez, who has been on the disabled list since July 11. Jimenez called it a step forward but said he didn't know where or where his next step would be. The right-hander will likely embark on a rehab assignment in the coming days, with a more clear return date to be known at that time.

Jimenez gave up four hits, walked one and struck out seven in his first win since May 8 and third overall in 17 starts this season. He's still walked at least one batter every outing this year, and that poor command has prevented him from working deep into games. Still, this makes five starts out of his last seven in which he's allowed just one or two runs.

Ubaldo Jimenez got a no-decision, allowing four runs over 6 1/3 innings as the Orioles defeated the White Sox 5-4 in 12 innings on Wednesday.

Jimenez was in line for a league-leading ninth loss, but Nelson Cruz bailed him out in the eighth inning with a game-tying grand slam. Jimenez, who had put together four solid outings out of his last five trips to the hill, was shaky, allowing eight hits and two walks while striking out two. He'll take a 4.70 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP, and a 77/53 K/BB ratio into next week's home start against the Rangers.

Jimenez held the Yankees to one run in six innings, but it wasn't easy. He loaded the bases three times in six innings. The Yankees were unable to capitalize on these chances, though, allowing Jimenez off the hook repeatedly. Jimenez's final line was one earned run in 5 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and six walks. He would have earned his third win had Zach Britton not blown the save.

Jimenez lived dangerously in this one, giving up three hits and five walks, but the only damage against him was a two-run homer by Juan Francisco in the second inning. Still, it was enough to put him on the losing side. The high-priced right-hander fell to 2-8 with the loss and owns a disappointing 4.86 ERA and 68/45 K/BB ratio through 76 innings this season. He'll get the Rays next on the road.

Ubaldo Jimenez was done in by walks and big hits against the A's on Sunday, allowing six runs in 2 1/3 innings of work in the loss.

Jimenez' control continues to be a major problem, as he walked five on the day. He only allowed two hits before being removed, but they both went for extra bases -- a two-run double by John Jaso, and a grand slam by Brandon Moss. That was it for the right-hander. He's now 2-7 with a 5.01 ERA and 1.53 WHIP, and he'll face one of the league's best offenses in the Blue Jays on Friday.

On the downside, Jimenez also issued four free passes on the evening, an issue that's plagued the right-hander all year. He didn't last long enough to pick up his third win, but he was able to lower his ERA to 4.39 in the no-decision. He's now turned in two pretty good starts in a row, but he's so inconsistent that it's tough to trust him outside of AL-only leagues right now. He'll try to keep rolling Sunday against the A's.

Jimenez bounced back from a pair of rough outings, allowing only three hits and walking three while striking out eight. The right-hander has been hit-or-miss so far, with his success very much tied to his control. Jimenez owns a 4.65 ERA and a 59/31 K/BB ratio in 62 innings. He'll try for his third win in his next start against the Rangers on the road.

Jimenez issued five free passes and struck out three on the abbreviated afternoon. He cruised through the first four innings virtually unscathed, but the train came off the tracks in the fifth inning where the first five hitters reached and Jimenez was chased without recording an out. Now 2-6 on the season, he'll carry a disappointing 4.98 ERA and 1.54 WHIP into Thursday's start against the Astros in Houston.

After three straight strong outings to begin the month, Jimenez tied his season high for runs allowed in this one. Still, he did end the game with seven strikeouts and one walk, so this wasn't a complete return to his poor form of April. He'll get his former team, the struggling Cleveland Indians, in his next start.

Ubaldo Jimenez pitched well enough for the win but got a no-decision in Tuesday's start, shutting the Tigers out over seven innings, but the Orioles lost 4-1.

Jimenez turned in his second-finest outing of the season, limiting the Tigers to three hits and two walks while striking out seven. Jimenez's shot at his third win was squelched when Tommy Hunter blew the save in the ninth inning. Over his last three starts since the month of May began, Jimenez has allowed one run in 19 2/3 innings with a 20/5 K/BB ratio. He'll look to keep it rolling against the Royals on the road in his next start.

That makes two solid starts in a row for Jimenez, though he tossed 117 pitches without escaping the sixth inning. Against the Rays, the right-hander allowed seven hits, walked two, and struck out three. Paired with last Friday's start, Jimenez has allowed just one run in 14 2/3 innings in May, perhaps a sign that change is coming following a tough April. He'll take his 4.72 ERA into next week's start against the Tigers at home.

Ubaldo Jimenez enjoyed his best outing with the Orioles on Friday night against the Twins, striking out 10 batters over 7 1/3 scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory.

Now this is what the Orioles had in mind when they gave him a four-year, $50 million contract over the winter. Jimenez held the Twins to just three hits and one walk. He had walked at least two batters and allowed at least three earned runs in each of his previous five starts with Baltimore, so it was nice to see. He'll attempt to build on this one when he takes on the Rays in Tampa Bay next week.
