Sun Apr 12 201511:28Joseph out of lineup Sunday against Blue Jays
Joseph is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Joseph has started behind the plate for four of the Orioles' first five games, but will give way to Ryan Lavarnway on Sunday for the second time this year. With Matt Wieters (elbow) expected to return at some point in May, both of those players will soon risk seeing greatly decreased roles.
Wed Apr 8 201515:20Joseph out of lineup for Wednesday's game against Rays
Joseph is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Joseph will take the day off for the series finale against the Rays. While he remains the primary catcher in the absence of Matt Wieters (elbow), his run behind the plate likely won't last too much longer.

Joseph figures to begin the season as Baltimore's primary catcher with Matt Wieters headed to the disabled list, MASN Sports reports.
Joseph is a defensive minded backstop who got over half a season of work in 2014 due to Wieters having Tommy John surgery. Offensively, Joseph slashed .207/.264/.354, but at 29 years-old there is not expected to be much improvement from that. Joseph is 6-for-18 with two doubles in Grapefruit League games this spring.

Orioles catcher Matt Wieters will serve as the catcher for the first time in a Grapefruit League game Tuesday, which should mean Joseph will not start any early season games.
Had Wieters not been ready to go for Opening Day, Joseph would have been the favorite for the playing time. Wieters now has nearly three weeks to work with to reacclimate himself to the catcher's role. It still remains to be seen whether Joseph will be the backup, but that is the likely decision. Joseph is 4-for-10 in five spring training games.

Joseph remains the favorite to back up Matt Wieters at the beginning of the season, MASN Sports reports.
Joseph spent half the season as the primary catcher in 2014 after the Orioles lost Wieters for the season. It was a bit of a surprise since Joseph spent most of the prior three seasons at Double-A. Joseph is a defense-first catcher. He hit a measly .207/.264/.354, but had a serviceable nine home runs in 246 at-bats. Playing time will be sparse as long as Wieters is healthy.
Thu Oct 2 201414:02Joseph not in lineup for Thursday's Game 1 of ALDS
Joseph is not in the lineup for Thursday's Game 1 of the ALDS, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.
Joseph went just 4-for-50 in September, after slashing .317/.348/.603 in August, so it seems likely that Nick Hundley will serve as the primary option behind the plate for Baltimore throughout the series.

Sat Sep 20 201415:24Joseph out of lineup Saturday against Red Sox
Joseph is out of the lineup Saturday against the Red Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.
Nick Hundley will man the backstop in place of Joseph, who is currently mired in an 0-for-16 slump. It seems likely the two will split time fairly evenly over the remainder of the season.
Sat Sep 6 201411:20Joseph out of lineup Saturday against Rays
Joseph is out of the lineup Saturday against the Rays, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Joseph will give way to Nick Hundley for the second time in three days, following a 1-for-10 start to September. The 28-year-old Joseph did hit .317/.348/.603 in August, but he could slip into a more even timeshare with Hundley if he doesn't pick it back up soon.
Thu Sep 4 201414:50Joseph not in lineup Thursday against Reds
Joseph is not in the lineup Thursday against the Reds, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Joseph continues to occupy by the top perch on the Orioles' catching depth chart, but he figures to receive more frequent rest down the stretch, particularly as the team closes in on clinching the AL East. Nick Hundley will spell him behind the plate Thursday.
Mon Aug 25 201416:41Joseph out of lineup Monday against Rays
Joseph is out of the lineup Monday against the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Joseph's excellent work in throwing out would-be base stealers has allowed him to garner regular starts for the Orioles since Matt Wieters underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery, but his slumping bat has allowed Nick Hundley to assume more turns behind the plate over the last week. With a 2-for-14 showing over his last five starts, Joseph will be on the bench Monday for the fifth time in eight games.
Sat Aug 23 201411:41Joseph out of lineup Saturday against Cubs
Joseph is out of the lineup Saturday against the Cubs, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.
Joseph will sit in favor of Nick Hundley for the third time in four games, as it seems manager Buck Showalter has settled on a relatively even timeshare behind the plate. Joseph is batting a robust .300/.349/.750 with five homers this month, but he's a rather modest 4-for-19 over his last six games.
Tue Aug 19 201416:59Joseph out of lineup Tuesday against White Sox
Joseph is out of the lineup Tuesday against the White Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.
Nick Hundley will step in behind the plate to catch starter Chris Tillman as Joseph sits for the third time in nine games. Joseph has predictably cooled off since his stretch of five straight games with a homer, but he still owns a .297/.350/.784 batting line for the month of August.
Sun Aug 17 201411:11Joseph out of lineup Sunday against Indians
Joseph is out of the lineup Sunday against the Indians, MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli reports.
Joseph will sit for Sunday's day game following a 1-for-3 night at the dish Saturday. He has a hit in five of his last six starts, but has also struck out at least once each game. Nick Hundley will get the start behind the plate and bat eighth for the Orioles.
Wed Aug 13 201415:07Joseph out of lineup Wednesday
Joseph is out of the lineup Wednesday vs. the Yankees, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
With Tuesday's game postponed, Joseph will effectively earn a two-day rest, as Nick Hundley handles catching duties behind the plate. Joseph's fantasy value is probably about as high as it has been this season, with the backstop recently putting together a streak of five consecutive games with a home run.

Joseph went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer -- his fifth consecutive game with a long ball -- in Saturday's win over the Cardinals.
At the very least, Joseph is a great story, as he was contemplating retirement this winter. As a 27-year-old last season, Joseph hit 22 homers and carried an .840 OPS at Double-A Bowie, but his recent power surge is still surprising as he was very quiet at the plate prior to the past week while contributing in the O's timeshare at catcher in the absence of Matt Wieters.
Fri Aug 8 201415:42Joseph not in Friday's lineup
Joseph is not in Friday's lineup, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.
Nick Hundley will setup behind the dish for the O's on Friday, as Joseph gets his third day off in the team's last six contests. He's still atop the depth chart, but it's pretty close to an even time share with Hundley at this point.

Joseph supplied all the offense in Thursday's 2-1 win at Toronto, slugging a two-run homer in the fourth inning.
Joseph has been on a power binge, homering in four straight games, with seven long balls overall for the season. He's not a former prospect, although he was ultra productive in Triple-A last season, hitting 22 homers with 97 RBI. In any event, he's likely to earn extra playing time over fellow catcher Nick Hundley if he stays hot at the plate.

Joseph was a force at the plate Monday, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a home run.
The Orioles' backstop has now homered in back-to-back games and driven in four runs in those gamesas many RBI as he recorded all of July. Joseph's recent hot streak has finally brought his average above .200
