His 52.2 percent success rate is the best by an Astros catcher in a season with a minimum of 40 games. He has caught 11 of the last 17 would-be base stealers.

C Evan Gattis caught Rays 2B Logan Forsythe attempting to steal second base in the first inning and has caught 50 percent of would-be base stealers this season (11-for-22). In his last 37 games, Gattis has recorded a caught stealing in 10 of 16 attempts. He is also batting .462 with five extra-base hits over his last eight games.

C Evan Gattis belted his 21st home run in the ninth inning, a walk-off blast against Rays RHP Alex Colome. Gattis has two career walk-off homers, the other coming April 21, 2014. The Astros have four walk-off home runs this season, second only to the Mariners who have six.

It marked his 14th and 15th home runs this season and sixth career multi-homer game and third with the Astros. His four RBIs matched a career high last accomplished on June 3 against Oakland.

C/DH Evan Gattis was hit by a pitch on the back of his right hand in the fifth innings and left the game for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning of Houston's 7-0 victory against Oakland on Wednesday. Gattis, who started at designated hitter, said X-rays were negative and that he's day-to-day with a contusion on his hand. Gattis said he was "a little" worried when he was hit. "But it's feeling better. It kind of calmed down quick," he said. "Just a right hand contusion. No fracture."

C Evan Gattis started Thursday for the third time in five games, but manager A.J. Hinch was adamant that the club wasn't implementing a platoon. C Jason Castro remains the primary backstop. "I'm going to be very careful with how much volume I put on Gattis with the catching," Hinch said. Gattis went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

His streak ties the longest of his career, last accomplished on May 1-3, 2015. C Evan Gattis tied his career highs in hits (four) and RBIs (four). He now has three four-hit games (last: June 14, 2015 against the Mariners) and five four-RBI games (last: Aug. 25, 2015 at the Yankees). Gattis has reached base safely in 14 of 16 games since his recall from Double-A Corpus Christi and is batting .292 (19-for-65) with six home runs, 13 RBIs and a .952 OPS during that stretch.

C Evan Gattis recorded another caught stealing when Diamondbacks RF Michael Bourn attempted to swipe second base in the eighth inning. Gattis has thrown out five of 10 attempting base stealers in his six games behind the plate, including 4-for-4 in his last three games.

C Evan Gattis hit his sixth home run of the season in the fifth inning Wednesday. He has five homers and nine RBIs in the 14 games since his recall from Double-A Corpus Christi. He also caught two would-be basestealers for the second time in his career and the first time since April 14, 2014, at Washington.

C/DH Evan Gattis did not start Monday when the Astros played the first of two games in Arizona, where the designated hitter is not used. Gattis caught all 13 innings in a 8-6 victory at the Los Angles Angels on Sunday. "Gattis probably needs a day off after catching the extra-inning game anyway," Houston manager A.J. Hinch said. "We're going to face some left-handed pitching in six or seven of the next 11 games, and I wanted to get some righties in there." The Astros will face Arizona LHPs Patrick Corbin and Robbie Ray in the next two days.
