Plouffe will get an x-ray on his left foot Sunday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Plouffe apparently fouled a ball off his in Saturday's game and is the likely reason he is out of the lineup Sunday for the first time since July 25. The team will likely release the results of the x-ray some time Sunday or Monday.

Plouffe is out of the lineup Sunday against the Athletics, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Plouffe is hitting .394/.487/.545 in the month of August. He hasn't taken a day off since July 25 but will get one Sunday. Eduardo Nunez will start in his place at third and bat seventh for the Twins.

That makes him 7-for-10 in his last two games after his 0-for-16 slump, and his batting average has jumped from .235 to .248.

Plouffe hasn't really been any good since April. The Twins aren't going to replace him during the season, but he'll be a candidate to be non-tendered this winter if he doesn't step it up.

The average will go down -- he's just a .243 career hitter -- but the homers should increase, keeping him on fantasy radars in deep mixed and AL-only leagues for another year.
