Tue Aug 18 201516:53Saunders (knee) will miss remainder of season
Saunders (knee) will miss the remainder of the season, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
Saunders' recovery from knee inflammation has gone at a glacial pace, and manager John Gibbons said Tuesday that there simply is not enough time for him to make it back to the big leagues this season. The 28-year-old went 6-for-31 in his abbreviated 2015 campaign and should be dropped in all one-year leagues.

Saunders (knee) has started to increase his activity but is still "nowhere near a return," Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports. Manager John Gibbons said Friday, "I wouldn't expect to see him before September."
Gibbons' statement gives owners all they need to know about Saunders' progression. Knee inflammation has kept Saunders on the shelf since May with his timetable being pushed back a number of times. Saunders should be ignored in most formats until he starts out on a rehab assignment.
Wed Jul 1 201511:55Saunders (knee) continues on slow progression path
Saunders (knee) continues on a slow progression path, but remains without a timetable for return, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports.
Saunders will likely require long rehab assignment before rejoining the Blue Jays, but he's not even ready for that yet. There's no word on whether or not he's begun baseball activities again, but that is the first step in a fairly long road.

Saunders (knee) could return to baseball activities in as little as two weeks.
Saunders underwent an MRI on Monday which revealed that the bone bruise in his knee is healing well. He'll undergo another MRI in two weeks, and if the bruise is healed at that point, Saunders will be cleared to return to baseball activities. Saunders is on track to exceed the 4-to-6-week timetable he was initially given, and he figures to return to the team in mid-to-late July.

Fri May 15 201519:34Michael Saunders: (Knee) Expected To Miss 4-6 Weeks
Saunders (knee) is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, Sportsnet.ca reports.
The Blue Jays are currently working under the assumption that Saunders simply needs time to let his body rest and adapt after 60 percent of his meniscus was removed in February. However, they will send Saunders to see Dr. James Andrews on Monday to be sure there aren't any more serious issues. Danny Valencia, Chris Colabello and Ezequiel Carrera have seen time in the corners with Saunders out and Jose Bautista limited to DH duty.
Sun May 10 201509:44Michael Saunders: (Knee Inflammation) Lands Back on DL
Saunders (knee inflammation) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
Saunders sat out four games after receiving a cortisone shot in his knee during the past week, and even though he was able to return to the lineup Saturday, it appears he's not feeling well enough to play on a regular basis. The DL gives Saunders time to rehab the injury, but further thins an already weakened outfield corps for the Blue Jays. In addition to Saunders, Jose Bautista has been limited to DH duty of late while he recovers from a shoulder injury, which could force Chris Colabello and Ezequiel Carrera to assume everyday roles at the corner outfield spots.
Sat May 9 201513:02Saunders (knee) in lineup for Saturday's game against Red Sox
Saunders (knee) is in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.
This was expected, but Saunders will indeed slot back in against right-hander Joe Kelly after missing four starts with a knee injury. He will man left field and bat seventh. Saunders reported feeling much better Friday after having the knee drained and receiving a cortisone shot earlier in the week.
Fri May 8 201517:14Michael Saunders: (Knee) Will Start Saturday
Saunders (knee) is available off the bench Friday and will start Saturday's game, SportsNet's Shi Davidi reports.
He said he feels a million times better Friday after getting his knee drained and getting a cortisone shot earlier this week. While Danny Valencia and Chris Colabello will occupy the outfield corners Friday, Saunders will presumably take over one of those spots Saturday.
Fri May 8 201512:17Saunders (knee) will be out again Friday
Saunders (knee) will be out again Friday, MLB Network Radio reports.
Manager John Gibbons said that Saunders has had three days off since his cortisone shot for the knee, but noted that he would be out of the lineup Friday because the Red Sox will be throwing lefty Wade Miley. This suggests that Saunders could be an option the next time a righty takes the bump against the Jays, or perhaps off the bench Friday. Continue to consider him day-to-day, and look for both Chris Colabello and Danny Valencia to be in the lineup Friday.
Wed May 6 201515:42Saunders (knee) not in lineup Wednesday against Yankees
Saunders (knee) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, John Lott of the National Post reports.
It had previously been reported that Saunders would likely be held out until Friday after getting a cortisone shot and having fluid drained from his left knee Monday, and it appears that is still the plan. Chris Colabello will slot into the lineup, getting another start in left field.
Wed May 6 201500:49Michael Saunders: (Knee) Likely Out Until Friday
Saunders (knee) is expected to be held out until Friday after getting a cortisone shot and having fluid drained from his left knee Monday, the Associated Press reports.
He figures to be held out again Wednesday and the Blue Jays are off Thursday, so some combo of Kevin Pillar, Ezequiel Carrera or Chris Colabello will get the start in the outfield Wednesday. Look for Saunders to be back in the mix this weekend.
Tue May 5 201516:07Saunders (knee) out of lineup for Tuesday's game against Yankees
Saunders (knee) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Chris Colabello will surprisingly get a start in left field, as Saunders is out of the lineup for a second straight game. Saunders had fluid drained from his knee Monday, but there's been nothing to indicate that he'll miss an extended period of time. He was said to be available off the bench Monday night, and while he ultimately never made an appearance, he may again be available Tuesday.
Mon May 4 201515:30Saunders in not in lineup Monday against Yankees
Saunders in not in the lineup Monday against the Yankees, John Lott of the National Post reports.
After a slow start to the season, Saunders has been hitting well of late as he's 4-for-7 with a pair of walks and two RBI in his last two games. Danny Valencia will get the start in left field Monday in what appears to just be a regular day off for Saunders.

Saunders went 2-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 10-7 loss to the Indians.
That's now back-to-back games with multiple hits for Saunders as he continues to play himself back into shape after a knee injury cost him the spring. With the outfield shaking itself into shape, Saunders should see plenty of at bats as a corner outfielder. Fantasy owners may want to see if Saunders can continue his (very) recent production over the course of a week before rostering him, but he's not a bad option in AL-Only leagues for now.

Saunders went 2-for-4 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 11-4 victory over the Indians.
Saunders has struggled at the plate since returning from a knee injury, but seeing him collect multiple hits seems like a step in the right direction. He's just 4-for-22 (.167) since returning from the DL, which is too small of a sample size to draw any real conclusions. With Dalton Pompey sent down to Triple-A, there are at bats to be had by Saunders, but he needs to capitalize on these opportunities. He has limited fantasy value until he starts picking up his production at the plate.
Thu Apr 30 201515:55Saunders not in lineup for Thursday's game against Indians
Saunders is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Indians.
With lefty T.J. House on the mound for Cleveland, Saunders will give way to Danny Valencia in right field. Saunders had started the last five games since coming off the DL and went 2-for-16 at the plate with an RBI and six strikeouts.
