RHP Chris Tillman's struggles against Toronto plagued him again early with a 38-pitch first inning Thursday. He eventually settled down, lasted six innings and kept the Orioles in position to win the game. Tillman allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Entering Thursday's game, Tillman was 4-10 with a 5.79 ERA in 20 outings against the Blue Jays. "Every time I throw a pitch, I have the same mentality," he said. "I'm trying to make a good quality pitch. I've struggled in the first inning throughout my career, I think."

RHP Chris Tillman allowed six runs in his 5 1/3 innings Thursday, but probably deserved a better fate as several of the nine Rangers hits against him were softly hit. The RBI double Mitch Moreland had in the sixth was on a blooper and Ian Desmond's RBI single didn't get out of the infield. Tillman isn't dwelling on the loss. "They were OK pitches," he said. "They could have been better. Those were the same swings I was getting all night. The pitches definitely could have been a little better, but you can't defend the kind of stuff that they did late in the game."

RHP Chris Tillman, 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in two starts (just seven innings) this season, faces the Rangers in Arlington in the opener of a four-game series on Thursday night. He is 3-1 with a 4.67 ERA in six career starts against the Rangers.
Thu Apr 14 201601:27Rangers head home off winning trip
SEATTLE -- The Texas Rangers are scheduled to open the season with 14 consecutive games without a day off, so manager Jeff Banister showed no signs of panic when the team closed a seven-game road trip with a 10-inning, 4-2 loss to the struggling Seattle Mariners on Wednesday."I like the way we played -- 4-3 (on the trip)," Banister said after the loss dropped the Rangers to 5-5. "Winning a series against division foes (2-1 against the Mariners), I like the way we went about it."I like our approaches at the plate, and offense got going a little bit. We will take the 4-3 and go back to work at our ballpark."The Rangers won two of three against the Los Angeles Angels last weekend in Anaheim before taking the series in Seattle.Talented young right-hander Taijuan Walker helped limit the Rangers to six hits Wednesday, but Texas racked up 15 runs the previous two days in Seattle. RHP Chris Tillman often struggles versus Tampa Bay but the right-hander bounced back after a shaky start. He allowed hits to four of the first seven batters but nothing else, giving up just one run on four hits in five innings as the starting pitching continues to look good early. "It was OK," Tillman said of his start. "The command was a little off, especially early. It kind of got better right towards the end."

RHP Chris Tillman might get a chance to start earlier than his next scheduled appearance since he needed to come out after only two innings due to the second rain delay. Tillman struck out five of the six batters he faced in his two perfect innings. "We're going to contemplate it a little bit but we're still going to need a fifth starter on the 10th," manager Buck Showalter said.

Tillman will start Sunday's season finale for the Orioles, MASN Sports reports.
Tillman did not get to make a start Friday due to a rainout. Rather than have him pitch in Saturday's doubleheader, Tillman is now slated to start Sunday. Tillman has two quality starts in a row after failing to notch a quality start in his prior four starts. Still, Tillman had a 5.73 ERA for August and he sported a 7.03 ERA in September with a 1.44 ERA over the two month period. Depending on how things shake out in Saturday's doubleheader, the Yankees may start a strong lineup or rest most of its starters before the Wild Card game.

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman will start the final regular season game Sunday against the New York Yankees, according to MASN. Tillman was originally set to pitch Friday, but after that game was rained out he will instead pitch Sunday rather than in the make-up doubleheader Saturday.

Tillman surrendered five hits, two earned runs and a walk over 7.1 innings against the Orioles on Monday. He struck out three but did not factor into the decision.
Despite turning in his best outing of September, Tillman left without a victory after Darren O'Day eventually allowed a game-tying single to Jose Bautista. The 27-year-old was sharp on Monday, throwing 69 of his 104 pitches for strikes and notching first-pitch strikes on 19 of the 27 batters he faced. As customary, Tillman pitched to contact--inducing only four swings-and-misses-- but largely stayed out of trouble by coaxing 11 ground balls out of the potent Blue Jays offense. Tillman figures to have one more opportunity to finish 2015 with a .500 record when he takes the mound this coming weekend against the Red Sox.

Tillman (10-11) gave up three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five over six innings during Wednesday's win in Washington.
Despite being on the other end of a dominating outing by Max Scherzer, Tillman ended up keeping the O's in the game long enough for the win. He's still walking too many batters while striking out relatively few, which isn't a formula for sustainable success. Tillman's next start comes against the Jays, who scored six off him back on Sept. 6.

Tillman gave up three runs on five hits and three walks in 5.2 innings against the Rays on Thursday.
It's been an awfully bad run for Tillman over his last five starts, as he's given up 24 runs -- all earned -- in 24.2 innings over that span. After a hot stretch in July, Tillman has simply imploded down the stretch. After pitching to an ERA no worse than 3.71 in the last three seasons, it was hard to see a disaster like this year coming, but Tillman's already modest bat-missing ability has faded further, and it's put him in bad situations game after game.

Tillman took a no-decision Saturday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings while striking out three.
He carried a 4-1 lead into the sixth, but then Tillman and the O's bullpen proceeded to cough up five runs in the frame. He'll look for his first win in a month Thursday when Baltimore travels to Tampa Bay.

Tillman gave up seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five in 4.2 innings against the Rays on Tuesday.
After going 12 starts without a defeat Tillman has now lost his last three decisions. There have been stretches this year when Tillman was useful in mixed leagues, but on the whole he has been a pretty big disappointment. Things won't get any easier for the 27-year-old right, as his next start is Monday in Yankee Stadium.

Tillman (9-9) gave up four runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings against the Royals on Thursday, striking out just one en route to a 5-3 loss.
Tillman had turned in consecutive quality starts since his Aug. 11 disaster in Seattle, but his inability to miss bats lately is a major red flag -- he has just 14 strikeouts over 30.2 innings in his last five outings. Fortunately, he has a solid matchup coming up with the Rays, whom he held to one run in seven innings back on July 24.

Tillman took the loss Saturday despite delivering a quality start, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings while striking out six.
He's been solid in his last two starts, but hasn't yet regained the form he was flashing in July before he sprained his ankle. Tillman will next take the mound on Thursday in Kansas City.

Tillman (9-7) showed no ill effects from the batted ball that struck his pitching arm in his last start, holding the Athletics to just two runs in seven innings to earn the win Monday night.
Tillman did serve up two home runs for the second consecutive start, but he allowed just one other hit. Since the All-Star break, Tillman has experienced great success, allowing two or fewer runs in all but one of his outings. He'll look to continue the trend this weekend against the Twins.
Mon Aug 17 201515:16Tillman (triceps) will start in Monday's game against A's
Tillman (triceps) will start in Monday's game against the A's, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun.
TIllman was struck by a ball in the triceps in his last start, which put into question his ability to go on Monday, but he's been given the all-clear. He'll look to bounce back after allowing five runs in just 2.1 innings in his last start.
