Peacock (ribs) will throw a live BP session Saturday at Double-A Corpus Christi, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Peacock continues to progress in his recovery from an intercostal strain, and he threw a successful bullpen session Friday, tossing 25 pitches and emerging without significant discomfort. The Astros hope to have him back sometime later this month, but he's currently without a firm timetable.

This was his first bullpen session since landing on the DL. He threw 25 pitches (21 fastballs, four changeups) and said he felt great. He will likely throw a few more such sessions before embarking on a rehab assignment and could be an option to rejoin the Astros' rotation sometime this summer.

Peacock has only done some light throwing from short distances, but he did say that he's feeling better. He still needs to ramp things up before the Astros can think about sending him on a rehab assignment.

Peacock was placed on the disabled list retroactive to Apr. 15, and there hasn't been much in the way of updates on his status. The Astros don't have a scheduled starter for Friday's game against the Mariners, but the most likely solution is to recall Asher Wojciechowski from Triple-A Fresno. Peacock is likely at least a couple of weeks away from returning.

It's unclear when exactly Peacock suffered his injury, as nothing was noted following his start Tuesday. He began the season on the disabled list after undergoing offseason hip surgery, and will return there after just one start. The Astros recalled Asher Wojciechowski to take his place in the rotation.

Peacock took the loss Tuesday after permitting three runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts over five-plus innings against the A's.

Peacock allowed one run through five innings, but Oakland chased him from the game in the sixth after he gave up a walk and a run-scoring double to start the inning. Most importantly, however, he made it through the start without any setbacks after the Astros cut his rehab assignment short to insert him back into the starting rotation. Peacock is likely to make his next start at Seattle on Monday.

The Astros thought better of starting Asher Wojciechowski against Oakland and will instead turn to Peacock, who missed nearly all of spring training while recovering from hip surgery. Peacock struggled mightily in four starts against the A's last season, allowing 13 earned runs on 21 hits and 19 walks in 19 innings, but he didn't allow a hit while fanning five over 4.2 innings in his rehab start for Triple-A Fresno.

Peacock (hip) will start in Tuesday's game against the Athletics.

Peacock was previously on the 15-day disabled list and will actually be returning to the mound for the Astros a bit earlier than expected. Originally Asher Wojciechowski was on tap to pitch Tuesday but he'll head down to Triple-A in order to make room for Peacock moving forward.

Luhnow's comments suggest Peacock has a starting rotation spot waiting for him upon his return from injury, which could mean a short-lived rotation role for Brett Oberholtzer or whomever wins the fifth starter job between Asher Wojciechowski and Roberto Hernandez.

Peacock ran for 20 minutes on the Alter-G treadmill, which allows runners to control the weight bearing on their joints. He experienced "a little bit of awkwardness" in his hip during a similar running session on Monday, but his positive results Thursday indicate he's prepared to move forward in the recovery process. After throwing 20 and 25 pitches in his previous bullpen sessions, Peacock will throw 30 pitches in his next session Saturday.
