Herrera could be in line for increased playing time this spring if Daniel Murphy's left hand is injured after getting hit by a David Price fastball Friday.
Herrera is slated to open 2015 at Triple-A Las Vegas due to the presence of Murphy. With Murphy a free agent after the season and the Mets not inclined to sign him to a long-term deal, Herrera would seem to be next in line at second base. If Murphy's hand keeps him out for any time, Herrera could slide into the position sooner than expected.

Herrera (quad) is expected to be shut down for the remainder of the season, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Herrera left Saturday's game with a strained hamstring, and with only a handful of games remaining, the 20-year-old will be shut down in an effort to avoid further injury. He spent most of the season in High-A and Double-A before joining the Mets in late August. In 18 games (59 at-bats), Herrera hit .220 with 11 RBI and three home runs.

Herrera (quad) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Braves.
Herrera suffered a strained right quad in Saturday's game, which may end up putting the rest of his season in jeopardy. He had been seeing relatively consistent playing time at second base, but look for Wilmer Flores to pick up the majority of those reps he leaves behind during the Mets' final seven games. In his brief taste of the majors this season, the 20-year-old posted a .710 OPS with three home runs.

Herrera's season may be over after suffering a strained right quad Saturday night against the Braves, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.
Herrera left in the sixth inning while running to first base, and given that there's only seven games left in the season, Herrera will likely be done, although no official move has been made. He has hit .220 with three home runs and 11 RBIs since he was called up to the majors from Double-A Binghamton at the end of August. In Saturday's game, he was 2-for-3 and had a two-run homer before leaving.

Herrera left Saturday's game with a right quad strain.
Herrera was able to walk off the field under his own power, so early indications seem to denote that this injury shouldn't be too alarming. However, the recently promoted Herrera might be given some time off as a precaution for his long-term future with the Mets.

Herrera is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com reports.

Herrera is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Wed Sep 10 201415:28Dilson Herrera: Will Play Second Base Wednesday
Herrera will start at second base Wednesday and bat seventh.
It was expected that Herrera would see his playing time cut significantly now that Daniel Murphy (calf) is healthy, but with David Wright (shoulder) getting shut down for the year, Murphy will play third base Wednesday. If the Mets like Murphy as an option at the hot corner, Herrera could end up seeing more at-bats than anticipated down the stretch.

Herrera will see his playing time heavily reduced with Daniel Murphy (calf) expected to come off the disabled list Tuesday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Herrera, who was drafted as a shortstop, will see a game or two at that position but Wilmer Flores is set as the starter at the position for the balance of the season. Murphy will play almost daily, relegating Herrera to spot duty.

Herrera had the best offensive game of his very young career Monday, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
The homer was Herrera's first of his career. The young infielder has handled the bat well in his first four Major League games, but has struggled defensively. Even so, with Daniel Murphy on the shelf the Mets should continue to give Herrera looks every day.

Herrera notched his first major-league and drew a walk in the Mets' 7-2 loss to the Phillies on Saturday.
Herrera should start daily at second base with Daniel Murphy (calf) on the disabled list. He is batting towards the bottom of the order, but could get bumped up to the two-hole later in the month.
Fri Aug 29 201416:58Dilson Herrera: Will Play Friday
Herrera, promoted Thursday after Daniel Murphy's calf injury landed him on the disabled list, is in the starting lineup, batting seventh and playing second base Friday, Adan Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
It was announced Friday that Murphy may be out a while, giving Herrera a real chance at showing what he can do. In addition, Herrera, who broke in as a shortstop, will not play there this year in the majors, focusing his attention rightfully on second base.
