F C.J. Miles took a blow to the forehead with 3:55 left in the half, but passed the NBA-mandated concussion test at halftime and returned to the game midway through the third period.

F C.J. Miles scored 17 points and had five rebounds for the Pacers (5-4) on Wednesday.

F C.J. Miles added 18 on Wednesday. "We all know the first two minutes of the second half is big either way," said Miles. "They made some tough shots and we had some breakdowns but you are going to have those in every game."

Miles poured in 14 points in Thursday's preseason win over the Magic, but shot just 5-for-17 from the field and 2-for-9 from three-point range.

With Chase Budinger missing the Pacers' first three preseason contests with left hamstring soreness, Miles seems to have separated himself in the competition for the starting gig at small forward, despite Thursday's less-than-stellar shooting performance. Miles had fared better from both the field and long range in the Pacers' previous two games, and after he converted threes at a 34.5 percent clip last season, he should continue to receive the green light to fire away. While his overall shooting percentage may remain a drain in fantasy formats where that statistic applies, Miles may be able to make up for that deficiency through volume. The 154 three-pointers he sank in 2014-15 placed him 13th in the league, enabling him to finish with a career-high 13.5 points per game.

Miles will compete with Chase Budinger for the starting small forward position, Candace Buckner of the IndyStar reports.

Miles started 31 of the final 32 games when coach Vogel decided to bring Rodney Stuckey off the bench. During that stretch, he provided 14.8 points and 2.5 three-pointers in 28.1 minutes per contest. Now that the Pacers have acquired Monta Ellis and plan to use Paul George at power forward, the incumbent Miles will have to fend off Budinger in order to retain his role.

Miles averaged 9.5 points (40% FG, 35% 3Pt, 81% FT), 1.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks in 26 minutes per game during 70 regular season games in 2014-15.

Miles was in and out of the starting lineup, starting in 40 games and coming off the bench in 30. Prior to the All-Star break, he was the 178th ranked player in eight-category leagues. However, following the break, Miles' production improved, averaging 15.2 points, 2.6 three-pointers, 3.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 28 mpg, making him the 77th ranked player. The Pacers lack depth heading into free agency, so Miles has the potential to absorb a larger role next season depending on what moves the front office makes. Though Paul George will be back at full health next season and will command some wing minutes, the Pacers have talked about using smaller lineups with George at power forward, and that could open up enough minutes to make Miles an intriguing sleeper candidate going into next season. The 28-year-old guard could be worth a late-round pick in standard leagues for 2015-16.

Miles scored 25 points (9-22 FG, 4-13 3Pt, 3-4 FT) and grabbed eight boards in 42 minutes in the double-overtime win against the Wizards on Tuesday.

Miles has been on a great scoring streak with 79 points in his last three games. He has knocked down 15 3-pointers in that span. Miles should get plenty of shots on Wednesday against Memphis as the Pacers try to force their way into the lineups.

Miles posted 24 points, five rebounds, and two assists in 28 minutes of action Friday against the Pistons.

Miles is averaging 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.6 three-pointers made over the last five games. He's been contributing enough in scoring and treys to be worth owning in standard leagues, in spite of the fact that he's playing just 27.8 minutes per game during that span.

Miles (ankle) did not go through shootaround but ultimately was able to play Friday against the Hornets. He posted 12 points, six rebounds, and two blocks in 28 minutes of action.

Miles is averaging 15.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 three-pointers made over the last five games. He's been getting many minutes and a lot of scoring opportunities, which has allowed him to post decent scoring numbers in the process. He's limited in other categories, but still contributes enough to be owned in competitive 14-man leagues.

Miles (ankle) did not go through shootaround but plans to play through an ankle injury Friday against the Hornets.

Miles sprained his ankle Tuesday against the Celtics, but he was in the lineup Wednesday and will play through the injury again Friday. While missing shootaround indicates that he'll be at less than 100 percent, Miles played 29 minutes Wednesday, so it may be a situation where the ankle doesn't bother him as much once he has a chance to loosen it up in a game situation.

Miles had 12 points (5-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, two steals, one block and two turnovers in 29 minutes on Wednesday.

Miles sprained his ankle on Tuesday and didn't return. It was great to see him back and playing a full load just one day after suffering the injury.

Miles was initially deemed questionable with a sprained ankle, but he'll gut it out Wednesday. Coach Frank Vogel called both Miles and Rodney Stuckey "pretty banged up."

Stuckey played 25 minutes, but originally wasn't certain if he'd be able to go with a wrist injury coupled with a sore calf that forced him to miss three games last week. If Miles is out for extended time, expect Stuckey and Watson to shoulder the load with George Hill in the Indiana backcourt.

Miles left Tuesday's game with a right ankle sprain and is questionable to return.

Miles went down just minutes into the game and it sounds like he could miss the remainder of the contest. The Pacers figure to lean on Rodney Stuckey heavily in Miles' absence.

Miles saw extra run with Rodney Stuckey (calf) playing only 13 minutes, but despite this temporary bump in playing time, Miles has been a useful fantasy option. In his last six games, Miles has averaged 2.5 three-pointers, alongside 11.8 points, and 3.7 rebounds. His value is mainly limited to triples, but he is a relatively consistent source of that fantasy category.

Miles (foot) registered 14 points, three rebounds, and three assists in 30 minutes against the Bucks on Thursday.

Miles was dealing with some soreness in his feet ahead of Thursday's game but managed to take the court and play a hefty amount of minutes. There's always the possibility that he'll need to rest his feet at some point in the future, although he seems to be in the clear at the moment.
