"Any time you get hit in the hand or finger, it's painful," Gonzalez said. "It's not broken. I'll try my best to get (back) as quick as possible."

OF Carlos Gonzalez saw a 19-game hitting streak come to an end on Sunday when he went 0-1 in a pinch-hitting appearance against the Phillies. The streak, which lasted from July 18-Aug. 13, was the longest single-season hit streak of his career. During the span, he batted .361 (26-for-72) with 11 doubles, four home runs and 24 RBIs.

He popped up to end the fifth, however, after the Rockies loaded the bases against Phillies starter Jerad Eickhoff. Colorado, which had 13 hits in all, went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11. "We didn't get the big hit," manager Walt Weiss said. "We had some opportunities. We scattered our hits. We didn't get the big one, to put up a big inning."

OF Carlos Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to 18 games, driving a pinch-hit three-run double to left-center field off RHP Matt Bush to highlight a five-run eighth inning in Colorado's 12-9 victory over the Rangers on Thursday. Gonzalez missed the previous two games with a swollen left ankle. "In the past couple of days, I've been trying to stay in the game, be alert, stay loose and look for situations like the one I had today," said Gonzalez, who hopes to be in the field for the start of Colorado's series with Philadelphia on Friday. "That was the perfect opportunity for me to jump in there."

OF Carlos Gonzalez, riding a 17-game hitting streak, sat out a second straight game on Wednesday, a Rockies 5-4 loss to Texas, while continuing to nurse a sore ankle. His streak is the second longest active going in the big leagues and longest by a Rockies hitter this season. During the streak, Gonzalez is hitting .348 with nine doubles, four homers and 21 RBI. He is day to day, manager Walt Weiss said.

RF Carlos Gonzalez did not play Tuesday. He was lifted for a pinch hitter in the second inning on Monday because of left ankle inflammation. He sprained the ankle on Aug. 3 while coming out of the batter's box in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gonzalez said Monday that the ankle bothered him while warming up for the game and really became painful when he went to back up first base in the first inning when catcher Nick Hundley threw there after dropping a third strike. On Tuesday, Gonzalez said he felt better and thought he would be able to avoid going on the disabled list. "I know it should take a couple days, but I don't think it should be a DL," Gonzalez said. "I felt good today, so that's a good sign. I was wondering how I was going to wake up today because (my ankle) was bigger than it was the day that I sprained it. That's why I was a little concerned last night, but today I feel fine and I'm walking fine." Gonzalez's 17-game hitting streak is intact because he did not have a plate appearance Monday.

Gonzalez sprained the ankle Wednesday coming out of the batter's box in the seventh and had to leave the game. Gonzalez didn't play Thursday but played Friday and Saturday before getting a planned day off Sunday. Gonzalez said his ankle bothered him warming up before the game and felt worse in the second inning when he went to back up first base catcher Nick Hundley threw there after picking up the ball when Adrian Beltre struck out. "I was trying to get everybody's attention to get me out of the game, that I couldn't run," Gonzalez said. "Good thing there was no play in right field. I got to the dugout and tried to take the tape off. Soon as I took the tape off, the swelling got really bad."

RF Carlos Gonzalez was given a planned day off after playing Saturday night. Manager Walt Weiss said he wanted to rest Gonzalez because he's still dealing with soreness in his left ankle, which he sprained Wednesday. Additionally, Weiss said when weighing whether to rest the left-handed hitting Gonzalez, he considered the "extreme reverse splits" of Marlins LHP Adam Conley, who started for Miami. Entering Sunday, left-handed hitters were batting .306 against Conley this season and .301 for his career. It was much different for right-handed hitters, who were batting .225 against Conley this season and .236 for his career.

RF Carlos Gonzalez returned to the lineup. He didn't play Thursday after spraining his left ankle while coming out of the batters' box Wednesday in the seventh inning, forcing him to be helped off the field and leave the game. Gonzalez went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 16 games, which ties his longest in-season streak from Aug. 23-Sept. 8, 2010. He's hitting .344 (21-for-61) during his current streak.
