"The way Mark's swinging and Ian, both right-handed bat, it might just take a little bit of pressure off CarGo. Probably not -- he's CarGo. But mentally, it might be good for him. We'll see."

RF Carlos Gonzalez was back in the lineup after missing two games with right calf tightness and went 0-for-4, dropping his average to .192 (20-for-104). He developed cramping in the calf on Thursday at San Diego and was removed from the game before the ninth inning. Rockies manager Bud Black said he spoke with Gonzalez after the game Saturday night about playing Sunday, and Gonzalez said he felt well enough to do so.

He has one hit in his last 12 at-bats and was 4-for-24 on the road trip.

RF Carlos Gonzalez was given a planned day off. He's hitting .211 with two homers and five RBI. Gonzalez struck out against Joe Roark to end the fifth Wednesday night and Roark's 41-pitch inning with runners on first and third and the Rockies trailing 5-2, he struck out, missing a curveball. Gonzalez's bat then splintered when he smashed it to the ground. Manager Bud Black said, "He was frustrated. He wanted to get the knock. That's great. He wanted to get the knock for the Rockies."

RF Carlos Gonzalez played his 1,000th game with the team and became the sixth player in franchise history to reach that milestone. The others are Todd Helton, who played 2,247 games, Larry Walker (1,170), Vinny Castilla (1,098), Troy Tulowitzki (1,048) and Dante Bichette (1,018). Gonzalez is one homer shy of becoming the fifth player in franchise history to hit 200 homers with the Rockies. The others are Helton (369), Walker (258), Castilla (239) and Bichette (201).
